It was ham as hell. In other words, fun. Shame about Luke Harper. It felt similar to Santino Marella almost winning the Royal Rumble. Like, it would be an odd choice, but people were actually buzzing positively about the idea. Maybe it's a bad analogy, but in the end, I suppose they went with AJ because booking-wise it would be the safest choice. AJ is pretty much a big name at this point, while Harper had only gotten some development in the past two months or so. And it is Wrestlemania, so you gotta get that big name out to get more people interested.
Again, it would be nice had Harper won, but alas it was not meant to be.
On Fastlane, they're really gonna have to pull out all the stops should Reigns be the winner. I mean, what, these past month Braun has been murderizing his opponents left and right. Clean wins, and coming out on top against Reigns who attacks post-match. The guy has been spamming superman punches left and right, and Braun has powered through them, and left Reigns flat the past few weeks. All Reigns has is he managed to stun the guy a couple of moments. If Reigns gets a clean win... I know for sure that a lot of fan reaction won't be pretty. Moderating in a wrestling forum, one sees a ton of angry comments and this one is gonna look harsh if Reigns wins.
Ideally, the result would be like that championship match with Orton as champ versus Mark Henry during his Hall of Pain run, when Mark more or less stomped Orton flat in the end. Considering it's Reigns, chances are rather dismal.

Spoilers on Fastlane.
Re: All Pro-Wrestling thread
So what are the best wrestling games out there? I'm torn between No Mercy (N64), Wrestlemania 2000 (N64), and the original Day of Reckoning (GCN) myself. I was never much of a SmackDown guy, but 2006 (PS2) was pretty good for its time even though I know almost everyone like Here Comes the Pain more.
Always liked them for the gameplay without the stupidity of the actual shows. Wish the Nintendo ones would've allowed for six people in the ring at once, but it wasn't meant to be. Nowadays, it looks like most of the games are mediocre at best. Eh.

A lot of people are hating on Shane vs AJ, and don't get me wrong, I'd rather see him wrestle someone else that's really good in the ring, but I am still interested to see how this is going to go.

Well, today has been an eventful day on the WWE:
Minor stuff:
-Rumors of RVD making a return.
-Rumors that Smackdown commentator Mauro Ranallo leaving, may had a possible fight/argument with other Smackdown announcer JBL
Major stuff:
-The pic leaks. Paige, Brad Maddox, and most probably Xavier Woods. Word is that there's even more people in the WWE who got hacked. Discussion on this has been heated.
-On a far more lighter note, the glory that is Southpaw Regional Wrestling. Seriously, seriously, and seriously - go watch it.

Re: All Pro-Wrestling thread
I've read rumors that Maryse, Summer Rae, and Nia Jax are coming, but the leakers are having a conflict. Apparently, several of them DON'T want to leak the private lives of celebrities. I've got a bit of an opinion on this after the original Fappening. It really is invasive and fucking wrong to be hacking/leaking celebrities' private lives just because they're, you know, celebrities. On the other hand, they're just fucking naked/sex pictures. A good deal of people have sex. It's a thing human beings do. In general, the celebrity stuff will never be nearly as good as real porn
which in turn is nothing compared to my japanese animes
, so the public's obsession with it is kinda fucking stupid when they could get more out of regular porn. None of the wrestlers have done anything they should be ashamed of (unless one of them is leaking the photos), so I don't like that it's going to end up being a public shaming for the victims.Girls are a hoax created by the Japanese anime industry to scam otaku out of their money.

More or less, yeah.
Like, nothing wrong with filming yourself and your significant other/s/friends/whatever, so long as its consensual. Maybe it's not wise to have these videos and images stored in a place where it might get stolen, but the fact remains that the blame lies on the hacker, not the one who got hacked. It's a freaking invasion of privacy, which is all kinds of scummy and illegal. More scummy stuff from other peeps; heard that Paige's mother made a statement regarding the pics and vids, and some people responded by posting said pics and vids.
Now, from what I heard, the one pic that might land Paige in trouble possibly is the pic where apparently she had the NXT women's title worn. Like, it wasn't a replica belt or something. That'll be at least rather awkward for the later holders of the title.

Current word is that it might be 'Taker's last match on this Wrestlemania. Hard to be sure since that kind of rumor has been going around every year for a long while now.
Still, if it is... dayum. Against Roman Reigns. If Reigns wins, it better be with him as a heel, otherwise the reactions will be downright nasty. The matches after that might have a tough time firing people up.

Also, three nice elbow drops:
The way the legs go up in the air is just beautiful, though it seems like murder on the hips.

Re: All Pro-Wrestling thread
I've been saying for years Kairi Hojo has the best elbow drop in the business. Might even be better than Macho Man's, but I haven't watched any old stuff recently.

I haven't really seen any of her matches but JEEEEZ just from those GIFs I can tell she's legit. I don't know if it's intentional, but with the way she puts up her legs for the elbow drop really makes it look like she's putting all her weight into it. It looks a LOT more devastating. If it really does kill your hips like it looks like it should, that's a dang shame, cuz I'd say that's something more peeps should try to replicate.
I'll have to watch some of her stuff later.

Elbow drops in general look pretty sweet. I generally prefer them over superplexes, and definitely like them more than the diving headbutt. In general, the diving headbutt is pretty damn dangerous, and generally doesn't look that impactful.
That said, Kairi Hojo's sweet elbow drop is real nice, but like I said, it looks nasty to do for her hips, and that's probably why not a lot of people would be willing to do that.

That's what I never really god about the Diving Headbutt. It's dangerous as hell, and I guess somewhat works as a last resort or something, but most of the time peeps just have that in their pocket for whenever, and in the end, it doesn't look that good? It doesn't look like it would hurt any more than any of the other "Diving" type moves, and in fact, it looks like it hurts less!
You don't put your full weight into a diving headbutt, because obviously, but then that just makes it look like it doesn't have proper impact! That move is ending careers and it doesn't even look cool.

Re: All Pro-Wrestling thread
Yeah. As I vaguely recall, Harley Race regrets innovating/inventing the move due to the damage it does to the user.
That said, Jack Gallagher's standing headbutt looks pretty damn impressive. I think he generally aims for the chest instead of hitting it skull to skill, so it's less dangerous on the head, and a bit of thigh slapping goes on to give it a sound similar to a superkick. Like I dunno, if it's safe, go for it. If it's not, ehhhhh...
It looks good. Plus he sells it quite well.

Re: All Pro-Wrestling thread
Ah yeah! Jack's headbutt looks mostly safe, and also, is so snappy that it looks as effecting as it should. It probably is still a LITTLE jarring, but not as much as, say, throwing your whole neck at someone from the top rope. That at least is a comfort. It also helps that they're in a position where they can both sell it. The opponent sells it like death and Jack sells it as if he's absolutely loopy, and it typically brings him to a spot where he can do a follow up move!
It's so good honestly.
Jack is a treasure.

Evidently after Eva Marie's contract expires, she is not renewing her contract. Knew something was up when her 30 day suspension started in August and she hasn't returned yet. I was kinda nervous that the WWE would give Eva Marie a Roman-tier push, so that's a relief I guess.

Yeah. There's definitely no reason to text and drive.
It's a pretty saddening situation. I recall on Jim Ross's twitter when the accident went down that he referred to his wife as his little Angel. To have a long relationship still and call your significant other like that... man, it's just sad to think about.

So, Wrestlemania a few days ago. TV here airs it live for free, but for this PPV they finally stopped inserting commercials in-between, so there was barely a delay as I watched the show with the rest of the world live.
The PPV was okay, I suppose. Improvement over the previous. That said, the production was great. Like, nearly all the entrances were just great to watch. The fact that the wind kept blowing in the stadium just added to the look of things.

I'm more concerned about UFC 210 than Wrestlemania because Daniel Cormier proved he is literally a goddamn wizard.

Re: All Pro-Wrestling thread
My god, the amount of heat the crowd had towards Roman the Raw after Mania was insane. I was legitimately shocked, but since he of all people retired Undertaker, it's not really surprising.
Aside from that, we got a few NXT callups. The Revival is on Raw, and Tye Dillinger and Nakamura are on Smackdown. Oh, also, Finn returned, so that's cool. With the current Universal Title picture, I don't see Finn reclaiming his title any time soon, but let's just hope for the future. Finn was definitely deserving of a monster push when he was called up last year, and it's a shame that it all came to an abrupt end due to an unfortunate injury.
In other news, the "SUPERSTAR SHAKEUP" is happening next week. Let's be honest, we all know it's just a snazzy new name for the draft. However, I'm interested to see if the typical draft formula is changed.
Alberto recorded over an hour long Periscope on a drunken rant, and the most notable thing from that was him insulting Triple H, along with saying that Paige can't return to the WWE unless he says she can. Paige was in the Periscope, but from what I've watched, she seemed uncomfortable and didn't want to be there. I also heard that she tried to end the Periscope on numerous occassions but to no avail. It's a shame that not only is Alberto burning all bridges with the company, but he's bringing Paige down with him. Even with all the leaks and whatnot, I'm still a fan of Paige and have been eagerly waiting for her return, and I seriously hope that this Periscope doesn't mark the end of Paige's tenure with the WWE.
Also, there's been a lot of drama revolving around JBL. We all know about how he used to be the locker room bully, but to this day, it could still stand true? Mauro has evidently suffered from depression for a while, and he's also not very social surprisingly. Supposedly, JBL got to Mauro so bad that he has basically severed all ties with the WWE. It's kinda worrying to say the least, and it's a shame that the WWE is losing one of the best announcers we've had in a long time. The occasional botch aside, you could tell Mauro had passion in his announcer position, and that's what I believe a lot of us loved about him. With this whole JBL vs Mauro thing though, I'm not sure who to side with. I feel for Mauro, and JBL has a history of being a bully, but JBL did state this, and he has a point. JBL is a heel commentator. Heel commentators give the face commentators a hard time, that's their job as a heel. Everyone knows how much shit the announce team gives Byron, even to this day. Corey Graves is also a heel commentator, and he gives Cole and Byron loads of shit. Seeing this, it just seems like Mauro couldn't handle the heat from JBL, but again, we don't know the full story so again, I'm not picking sides. I heard this in a wrestling podcast, and I actually didn't think about this until he mentioned it, but needless to say, it's a good point. Mauro calls the match in a professional way. He's not that goofy like the other commentators usually are, and therefore, he doesn't really know how to react when the heel commentator (in this case JBL) gives him a hard time. JBL is of course a goofy heel commentator who if you notice doesn't even call the matches 3/4 of the time. Right off the bat, you should know that the two won't have good chemistry. Regardless, I wish the best for Mauro, and hope that he and JBL/WWE can settle their differences because I legitimately believe that Mauro could be the next Jim Ross.
The last bit of news I have is that Simon Gotch has been released from the WWE on mutual agreement. It's a shame because for one, I really liked the Vaudevillians and wished they would've won gold at least once, and two, what of Aiden English? Now that the Vaudevillains are over, I don't think Aiden English is going to last much longer in the WWE unless he can manage to show that he's capable as a singles competitor, although even then he'd probably be a jobber, as if the Vaudevillains weren't already.

Re: All Pro-Wrestling thread
The problem with JBL is that he was doing unscripted bullying, particularly on an episode of Talking Smack. Mauro doesn't just have depression, he's extremely bipolar (his nickname is the Bipolar Rock'n'Roller) and JBL's bullying triggered an episode. Sure he has to be a heel on TV, but with someone with the condition that Mauro has, you have to be extremely supportive backstage and very patient. If I were in JBL's position, I'd be sure to give Mauro the biggest hug everyday after work backstage. In other words, you gotta be the exact opposite of JBL. Luckily, Mauro has supportive people like Bas Rutten in his life to help him through this shit. I really hope he goes to UFC (and does commentary for MayMac, if it happens), he doesn't need to be in a place that's going to worsen his illness. And just to make my point a little further, here are some excerpts about JBL from Justin Roberts (former WWE ring announcer) in his book:
JBL later denied having anything to do with the stealing of Justin's passport...right before Johnny Mundo (aka John Morrison/Nitro) made a statement saying JBL tried to coerce him and Joey Mercury into stealing the passport by offering to stop bullying them (he said they didn't do it because that would be a fucked up thing to do, which it is).Someone from Smackdown stole Justin's passport from his bag on the final night of a tour to the UK. It was never returned.
He actually had to go to the US embassy in London to get it reissued.
When they were in Japan on a tour, there was two tour buses - faces and heels.
"Bradshaw had both buses pull over". They wouldn't move until Justin was moved from the face bus to the heel one.
JBL, Benoit and his cronies then bullied Justin for the entire journey.
"I was very comfortable working the RAW tours. I was scared for my life to work SmackDown tours".
"JBL would throw my bags down the street...he typically referred to me as dipshit and numbnuts despite my always trying to do a great job...
Every day I saw him, he asked me why I was still alive and told me to "Go kill myself"."
JBL was once being interviewed by a high-schooler and, after the kid dropped his notes, Bradshaw asked the mother if "she had any children who weren't mentally disabled".
Jaime Noble and Chris Benoit once tackled Justin down to the ground in the airport and put him in a double crossface. He tapped instantly but they refused to release him.
He could barely walk for days afterwards and cried for an entire day.
Justin says a lot of the SmackDown problems changed when the crews joined up with ECW and Tommy Dreamer came on board. Dreamer, let's say, put a few people in their place.
In among that, people like William Regal and the Coach come across really well.
Regal gave his phone number to a very young Justin, long before he ever got to the WWE, and told him to call if he wanted help.
Batista from Justin's account sounds like a lovely chap, and Jericho.
Justin's father had cancer and Batista/Jericho/Coach all called to check on him.
The darkness of Benoit is really out there in this book. He bullied not just Justin but many young guys at the time, even Make-a-wish children at times.
