I took the plunge into Discord! Thanks to bkamakaze for the invite. :P

Though I was warned it was like, non-stop chat. It's pretty slow there right now.

Suppose you're standing on the moon, with no air resistance, in a skintight spacesuit that won't restrict your movement in any way. In your hand is a regular piece of paper. If you throw it, would it just fly like a rock?
It's pretty weird to think about...

I have no idea how to answer that, so instead, I'll just bring up that I've been watching that Power Rangers marathon at times on Twitch. Zeo (the only one I watched back in the day), In Space, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, and SPD seemed good. It was all after my time since I was more of an 80s kid, but when you grow up, you don't really care what you do or don't watch anyway. And here we are.

Sooo, anyone in the Portland area been to the Hollywood Theatre? I recently found out they're equipped to show 70mm films and are showing Tron, Ghostbusters, and Interstellar in 70mm during the second weekend in April. I was so overjoyed that I bought a ticket for each film.

Advantage of HTTPS: Security.

The lone disadvantage of HTTPS: I have to use a different build of Lynx to access talkhaus when I want absolute control over advertisements.

Advantages of HTTPS: Security, better Lynx builds

It's good for research, it's a cheap way to break modern paywalls, it bypasses virtually all advertising (which is hella useful on sites like KYM which assume everybody has fifty terabytes of ram available for their ad server to eat up), and it's fast af.

And it's not like I use it as my main - I pretty much only use it for reading stuff on KYM precisely because KYM assumes everybody has fifty terabytes of ram available for their ad server to eat up.

Watch your RAM usage next time you go to Know Your Meme. It's ridiculous how much of it is just ads.

What's annoying is that somehow - SOMEHOW - those ads are getting through ABP and an anti-advertising hostsfile.

I pretty much use AdBlock everywhere except a handful of sites, this place being one where I don't. I mean, these companies don't freaking check what they put on their sites at times, and there's always the potential of malware or worse if you accidentally click on one. Pop-up windows are an instant Ctrl+Alt+Del to the Task Manager to kill the window without even touching the actual window that popped up because even that can cause problems. No thanks.

While I do use Adblock, Adblocker Ultimate is the way to go for me, since not only it blocks some ads, it also removes some features of websites though manual detection, like some things that scroll with the screen, or that ad box that holds ads that bypasses Adblock.

Sounds similar to Brave's adblock payment system.

Personally, I use Privacy Badger. It's quite underpowered for speeding up traffic and decreasing RAM usage, but I feel like it's the most fair option for fair advertisers/websites of the ones I've seen, and it works with firefox electrolysis so who cares if it doesn't speed up traffic by itself.
