Hah. For your sake, I hope this pans out better than Heyward to the Cubs. Guy was basically Mr. Automatic all season, and into the postseason. Automatic *out*, that is.

This has come to my attention from browsing the Mosts...

On the "Most Chill" thread:

My good sir, if you consider *this* "more chill about sports", then I'd hate to see how *you* reacted to that moment.

Is it just me, or is this like, *the* dullest offseason in a long time? I went over MLB.com's transactions page today, and so far in January, I noticed only two notable signings or trades. Edwin Encarnacion was signed by the Indians, and a player on the Mariners my mother and I liked was traded to the Orioles in exchange for a so-so pitcher. Meh.

I still can't believe one of my favorite teams finally won a championship last year. The Rams winning the Super Bowl was cute, but I live and breathe Blues hockey and Cubs baseball. To see the Cubs pull off that comeback and with that ridiculous Game 7 to boot, that was amazing. Don't know how this year will top it. Just no Red Sox/Yankees stuff, please.

Spring Training. It looks like things are going right back to how they were last year for the D-Backs. First spring training game, first game against the Rockies, first loss to the Rockies, first homer (of probably a dozen more to come) to Trevor Story. Great. :P

Team USA lost again! This time, to the Red Sox. At least they picked a better team to get beaten by, though.

What's truly sad is that this is a team of America's best all-stars -- seriously, this is a lineup that consists of, among others, hitters such as Paul Goldschmidt, Buster Posey, Andrew McCutcheon, Nolan Arenado, and Giancarlo Stanton -- and with the World Baseball Classic happening, and many MLB players opting to play for their home countries, that means they've essentially lost to two B-list teams. Awesome! :P

You guys will still beat Team Canada...

I can't for Tebow to get cut. I'm tired this story carrying on (yes, I realize I'm adding to the problem)

I remember the Love/Hare for Tebow in high school. I can't believe he's still relevant in today's sports world. Granted he's arguably the greatest college football player of all time.

He's better than at least ten QBs in the NFL from when I last watched it. He never should've been blackballed from that.

Anyway, you all will have your Japan, Dominican Republic, or Cuba World Baseball Classic winner and like it. The United States is not good as a whole at baseball. I think they finished 4th in one of these things!

Cuba will be missing a lot of their best players for the tournament.

Not that the US is much better. They don't have Trout, Kershaw, or Sale just to name a few...

I'm going to NYC in April. Got tickets to see the Yankees and Mets, so I'll be 4/30 on my stadium visit list.

Mother of God. The US beat the Dominicans *and* the Japanese? Wow. Of course, they have to beat the as-yet undefeated Puerto Rico to win it all.

But hey, Puerto Rico is technically part of the US, so I guess the US is gonna have this one, one way or the other. :P

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! :P

I'm really surprised they won it. After their abysmal showing in exhibition games and the mediocre early rounds, combined with their mediocre (on paper, at least) pitching lineup, I figured they'd be gone quickly. Glad I was wrong!

And Stroman with the MVP! Hopefully he can continue his success into the regular season and be a Cy Young candidate.
