Re: ?
Here's a thought: What if we could get ahold of the Psychic Portal from Psychonauts in the real world, and used it to go inside raocow's mind? What strange things would we see there?
Also...
Well. The issue is basically a series of strange occurrences...
-Twice, my PC froze, but I could still move the mouse cursor. It was basically like the system was lagging heavily, but I could never get anything to *work*, so I had to hard reboot and thus have no idea what could've caused it...
-Twice, on starting my computer in the morning, it didn't boot properly; icons from the systray were missing, and the computer was frozen. Again, had to hard reboot.
-And finally, one night, my computer just spontaneously rebooted.
I should note that every one of these oddball incidents happened while I was away, and had nothing up except a paused Winamp and mIRC. No Firefox, no games. Nothing. And since I was away, I... have no idea what could have caused the reboot, either. I've tried the following:
-Running Immunet, Spybot, and Malwarebytes (Clean, clean, and clean)
-Running system diagnostic tests of various types (no problems reported)
-Googled everything that happened (Inconclusive results, at best)
-Checked Windows Event Viewer (nothing shown at or around the time of the crashes except a notice that seems to mean nothing more than the PC wasn't shut down properly)
I can also rule out a broken Windows Update. For various reasons, I have Windows Update disabled (I use Windows 10, not by my *choice*, but it's what I'm stuck with), so it can't be *that*.
Through Google and talking to friends, I feel like it could be anything from a power supply issue, to bad RAM, to the signs of a failing hard drive (I've backed everything up, so I don't really care as much as you'd think about the possibility of that last one, so don't worry about that), but again, nothing is showing up as *wrong*. And these issues *are* fairly infrequent (nothing has happened in the last two days), so it *could* just be random glitches. That they've all happened while I was idle, though, almost makes me wonder if I accidentally toggled some "power save" mode and it's screwed up.
Or. I dunno. Maybe it's just nothing. I'm no computer expert. *shrug*

If you need help getting started, and you use any of those OS, take a look. You could even make a thread there first, but understand that they'll then guide you to the link I posted. It is a do it yourself deal, so look at the list closely. If you're still not confident in your abilities to do this, let me know.

Re: ?
Windows just seems to get broken over time no matter what you do unfortunately. I'm on Windows 10 myself and recently started having issues where explorer just doesn't cooperate. If I open a file then it will properly open it but will also close all currently opened explorer windows. And if I open explorer and try to go into a folder then it will open it twice and both times in new windows. And nothing I search for gives me anything of use in trying to fix the issue so my options are to either deal with it (which I currently am because reinstalling Windows is a huge pain in the ass) or waste a day or two of my time dealing with reinstalling Windows and having to deal with my computer being unusable in the mean time.YelseyKing wrote: ↑7 years agoI can also rule out a broken Windows Update. Yeah, pretty cool to see you again, Calamari! I've seen your stuff on Soundcloud in the meantime while scrolling through stuff, and it's pretty great.
