ROCKMAN CX: Update #SPECIAL: METSU SHORYUKEN

Post by Heavy Sigh »

I'm probably going to regret this, but it's time for ROCKMAN CX.

Rockman CX is a ROM hack of Rockman 2 by Zenkaku Himajin, completed on August 23rd, 2016. Compared to other Rockman 2 hacks such as Rockman No Constancy, CX is a much larger project, reskinning the entire game into something that kind of resembles the Mega Man X series if you squint, with Megaman X3's intro stage, a MMX-style dash, and an entirely different plot, starring the devilish Rockman CX.

Unfortunately, Himajin has no idea what level design is.

eh, I wouldn't say he has no idea on Level Design, it's just he made the game way too lard that it borders on Kaizo.

man it made me sad how poorly designed this rom hack is, but i love the intro level. it takes a simple title screen and turns it into a full fledged mega man x3 level was just great

the robot master levels, though, are sometimes too hard and sometimes too easy, usually too hard, but whispy woods's is ridiculous in how much nothing is going on

that's not mentioning the bosses which do whatever the hell they want because "woa cool asm!!" i'd still recommend the hack though, the less stupid levels are actually quite nice in a way

I thought at first that was Bass, and questioned why they used Mega Man's model, of all things, but it's apparently copy Mega Man... which just raises even more questions.

Also, betting right now that Fire Mario is the hardest """Robot Master"""" stage. And that Poison Mushrooms will be an obstacle.
Also... Cheat Man. WHY?
I am prone to almost everything... except spontaneous violence.

i've actually never beaten kamen rider guy because of how dumb his lasers are. looks like i didn't miss much!

though i'm curious what the punch does exactly. guessing it does a lot of damage or something?

This, more than anything else, proves that Himajin desperately needed an editor that could tell him one thing.

this is about where i gave up on this game: the boss is blatantly not fun. it's pretty funny to watch but playing it feels like you could get a better experience trying to flip a coin 10 times and get all heads, nothing makes sense! it seems as if the hacksmith made this boss in one night, thought "thats hilarious" and then never touched it.

the only good part is that cheat man is a perfect representation of the game; very impressive and cool to watch but horrible to play and just unpolished

i dig the idea of wily dropping his own mega man into dr light's home to mess stuff up actually; and the cloud effect looked great. though, i wish the level was something more than a retread of wily 1, which doesn't make sense considering that's on a mountain and dr. light's house is on a grassy plain.

the castlevania 3 path choosing looks radical but i know it's just going to be an excuse to use quick beams and guts platforms in an annoying way
