But why not Nightmare in Dream Land? It's the same game but looks and sounds better!

I've not played the original version but it seems there are some aspects of it that are more charming, like the pause screen picture of Kirby drawing Kirbies or the fact that Meta Knight delivers the invincibility candy (

which is weird when you have to fight him later but he's always been so tsundere~

).

Let's just ignore Kirby's sprite on the title screen because good Lord.

This is going to be entertaining.
Also, raocow, when underwater, you can aim your water spout in four directions.

Ah-herm. But seriously, this was one of the staples of my childhood. What strikes me most of all is how absolutely gorgeous this game looks for something on the NES. The late NES era really does deliver on an æsthetic level in a way one wouldn't think possible. Still, I always thought it weird that the Poppy Bros. Sr. are still in black and white. Yeah yeah, palette limitations, but they still had one more color at their disposal, and in any event, the joonyers are black-and-fleshtone (which looks significantly better), so why are their elders so pale? Is it perhaps a deliberate reference to the fact that the previous game was monochrome? Who knows?

# 4 was always my least favorite to get on the cloud jump mini-game. Why? Because the cloud in the lower-left corner with the two green balloons in front of it looks like a giant creepy bear staring up at you from the bottom of the screen. It always freaked me the hell out.

Kirby's always been a bit of a blind spot in my gaming history. No real reason, I just didn't own any of the games. I did borrow Kirby's Dream Land 2 from a friend to try it - played it in the Super Game Boy; had fun; beat the game; haven't played another Kirby since. Perhaps it's time I rectify that.

Same here. My only real experience with Kirby is Avalanche, which really isn't a Kirby game.

A couple of the later useless secrets are sort of pains in the butt, so this won't be quite the cakewalk rao expects.

Main game is still pretty easy up until Nightmare phase 1, though.

Oh wow, wasn't expecting this.
First time I played this was the Smash Bros. Brawl demo, and I instantly loved it. I never knew a NES game good be so gosh darn colourful! I knew I had to get it myself one day.

I eventually got the 3D Classic version on the 3DS. Worth it. But man is the boss rush a killer.

Also, I never knew about those first couple hidden rooms. Who knew the UFO was in the first level?

I skipped over it for other games until 2008 when I finally played Squeak Squad and enjoyed it. From there, I've played a ton, and it's now one of my favorite Nintendo series. You should try a couple since they vary things up between releases enough that you can pick any one, really!

That one doesn't have 3D rotating towers, however. Do not underestimate the towers!

Today's color is Tropical Indigo!

Which works out pretty nicely, all things considered.

These levels are really short. :?
