Well, that ends that. Pretty mean they make you do the level without a midpoint at all. Even a lopsided one is better than what you get. Not the best ending, but the last world itself wasn't great either. There were some charmers for levels around, and also Tofu Man. All around it was entertaining to watch, to say the least.

But hey, it's over. WHO'S READY FOR BIG FISH LEGEND?! HECK YEAH!
I'm an idiot who likes vidya games.
And also maybe makes bad decisions based on those vidya games.

Pretty sure Big Fish Legend is just for side B (not that with Mario games).

OH BOY raocow HAS BEATEN THE FOUR JOB FIESTA USING THE JOB CLASSES OF BOON, SUPER BOON, FIRE/PAIN BOON, AND CAPE/EGGPLANT BOON. THE BEST RUN OF FINAL VIPTASY 5 EVER.

Still though that level was really silly, and I guess Neo VIPDeath existed. The attacks are kind of interesting because they sooooorta match the actual attacks from FFV as close as possible in SMW rules (except Almagest can't petrify and Grand LOLZ is actually Grand Cross but I guess it inflicts a status effect either way). I guess for early 2000s ROM hacking he was kind of a big deal? Oh well, it's all over, next time is something completely different I hope.

The fact that people below are saying JUMP is harder than VIP worries me in a certain way, mostly because I've gotten to World 3 and there was one level I did not find to be "difficult in a fun way" at all (World 2 castle, I will hate it until the end of time, mostly just the second half though, the first half is okay), but other than that... I'm worried? Possibly? I mean raocow's +99% better at SMW than at least half the Talkhaus so I shouldn't be but still.

As for outros, uhh... well they happen occasionally but in more recent times it usually just ends on a quip? I guess? I dunno I'm not super analytic on LPing styles or catchphrases or anything.
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.

I can't change my username but I go by Vali/Claire now (aka call me Vali or Claire at your leisure ^^).

I never update this currently playing section anymore, it's probably an RPG or something.

Morbit conglomerations of assorted collections of stuff will always be one of my favourite boss types visually.
Seeing creative parodies like Neo-VIPDeath never failed to tickle me fancy.

For the outro discussion, I always remember the "join me next time, hopefully/probably/possibly tomorrow, when we'll be doing x" thing from way back. Ironically enough, after skimming through some old videos, I think that was phased out during the original YouTube VIP2 run. I'm not sure quite why it stuck in memory after all this time, perhaps because of the coy nature of the fact that you knew that there would be another video next day, but you could never shake the feeling that maybe one day there'd be a rao shaped hole in your schedule.

So yeah, VIP2 was a thing that happened. I forgot just how distinctly average the game as a whole was; it's creativity still shone through from time to time, but it did get less endearing as time went on. I look forward to when we see VIP3 again, since in my memory, that's when VIP started becoming more interesting, memorable and solid as a whole, but I wonder how well it will hold up. A discussion for another time I suppose.

So what exactly is Neo-VIPDeath made out of? I can see it's mostly the normal VIP enemies.. and an apple? But who are the humans?

My favorite part of all of this has to be the fact that the level that raocow was dreading the most turned out to be the best level in the game.

finality: raocow, you never checked that lower quicksand area next to that pipe. Maybe that's where the midpoint was?

Edit: Am I the only person that laughed hysterically during the chipmunked commentary?

So. I'm going to just say, in conclusion...

Congrats to raocow for beating Vip2 savestate-less.

Great job, Horikawa, on translating Vip2.

And shame on 2ch for *making* Vip2.

So, I just finished watching the initial run of VIP 2, and it's kind of fascinating what raocow says/didn't say and remembered/didn't.

Some things that came to mind:
-Buddhist Temple really stood out. In the original run he was all "lalala" and stuff despite the presence of skeletons. In the redo, that was the first thing he noted and he was freaking out about that. That has me wondering a lot about that...
-When Countdown Goes to Zero... raocow said practically the same thing in both versions. About football. AS A SPORT.
-I was surprised that the FFV reference for the final stage wasn't mentioned even though he said something about it in the original and the Neo VIPdeath was kind of a giveaway...?
(That said, "Cleft of Dimension" was a much cooler name than "Interdimensional Rift." Not a mark on you, Otane, because you were probably referencing the official translation...)
-There were a couple instances where the first runthrough he actually aced a portion in one go without even needing to save-scum (one of the World 8 levels comes to mind, but I can't remember), while the re-do required a couple playthroughs. That said, overall his performance in the re-do's better than in the first run, so there's that.

to note on things thing, my aversion of bones tends to wave around, like sometimes it hits harder than other, even when it's the same 'thing'. I don't know why!

also back then I was a lot more afraid of revealing anything 'serious' about me so you know, don't mention anything.

Oh, it's fine. At the risk of revealing TMI meself, I learned that about myself fairly recently through a third party...

You're not alone. Though *bones* don't bother me, any sort of "internal organ-laden fleshy-walled" area in a game tends to creep me out. But... not always. So. I can't fault you for that.
