So here we are. Plays have been enacted. Empires have come and gone. The mightiest have passed away and withered, alike the least. Fires have burned, thousandfold. Yet, did not the great wind serenely continue its course? Does not the blackbird still sing its song? Does not the mistletoe still dwell in the oak's crown? Forgotten, what once has been told. Veiled, the words that once so rang out. Shrouded, like the larva in its cocoon. Let him hear it, who will.

Do you know which version it is nerfed? I'm pretty sure this translated version isn't as some other levels were in their original state.

There is a newer version that isn't on the site that has the nerfed airship iirc.

speaking of 2chan, yesterday i had to teach a young teenager about the origins of emojis ( kaomoji specifically) and the popularity they have on 2chan. they tried correcting me, saying that i meant to say 4chan. it was then i realized that internet cultural history is really worth protecting, documenting, and sharing. now how they heck are we going to do that?

I remember next to nothing about VIP 2 despite watching both LPs of it, oh well... this'll be fun. Also since it was brought up, just what is the feather replacement?

On the topic of such memes.... there's been one I've been dying to know for a while. What the heck does wwww mean, and why did it only pick up in Japan?

Thanks. That makes sense, thinking about it.

What doesn't make sense though, is why the VIP games passed up a perfect opportunity to put an Eggplant Wizard in there. Instead, they have juvenile jokes.... gaaaaaah.

If my years of watching anime has taught me anything it's that the japanese love their random english words, so it wouldn't surprise me if Boon is intended to be a Noob backwards. :P

I remember the triangle block level, it all came flooding back to me... later levels are going to be a thing without savestates aren't they? :3

at least the ninja running level went by pretty smoothly, and it's an early level I expected to really struggle with. Good sign!

I remember trying VIP2 way back when and stopped just shortly after the wall running level, but it wasn't bad as it was just sorta time-consuming. It could be much worse but it isn't.
IIRC the next level is about where I stopped, and since I never really watched the original two LPs, this'll be new to me. Here comes pain...?
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.

I can't change my username but I go by Vali/Claire now (aka call me Vali or Claire at your leisure ^^).

I never update this currently playing section anymore, it's probably an RPG or something.

Pipe-Lakitu reminded me of Goombella calling Sky-Blue Spiny eggs "pipes" in Thousand-Year Door. Then I remembered that there are in fact Lakitus in pipes.
This fits me far too well:

this episode contained some of the levels I remembered more clearly from the original playthrough. and by that I mean the wall running level, except I remember raocow having WAY more issues with it the first swing around

wait - does that mean that you actually did the

unnecessary doublegrab with a shell thing

to get the secret exit? did you actually fall for the red hering?

oh you silly goose

edit - for anyone interested, here is how you really do the secret exit:

1) get to the final area with the blue p-switch
2) grab the powerup from right before the goal-post
3) press the p-switch to turn coins into brown blocks
4) spinjump-glitch into the muncher area
5) grab the key (you will get hit, but invincibility frames are enough to get out of the area)
6) win at videogames forever

The shell grab is easy, if you know how to do it. The hard part is getting all the way through the enemy spam while carrying the switch. I didn't find it worth my time to item babysit, so I just flew over most of the level the second time.

Hm. My problem was that that the glitch didn't work when I tried it - the silver p-switch still became a blue p-switch ever after I brought it through the pipe with a shell. Also, you have a very low time limit and it's really easy to accidentally despawn the shell if you mess it up. So I happily cheezed it (and the way the whole thing is set up with the coins and the powerup I actually think that my method is the intended one, or at least that the author had both methods in mind).

They need to complete the final special stage, the title screen, and the AA graphics. The thread hasn't been very active recently, but it should get done within a few months hopefully.

If you trust the wiki, the double grab is intended (I think you have to use the shell spawned from the block for it to work consistently). There are a couple of other unintended ways (I do think yours is easiest)
-use the throw block at the beginning to clone the p block to the side, giving you a silver p (double grabbing p switches is easier)
-throw a shell in the box at the end (use yoshi or glitch throw it through the wall) and then cape dive

I thought this level was very well made -- everything is placed to kill you (ie not spammed).
