The Haus of Talk Thread
Re: Twattir Thraed
I was a little worried that we'd have to go into ShoutHaus 2.0 for a minute there.

i've seen two three talkhausers on a certain furry art site/furry porn dumping ground/UNSPEAKABLE TRAUMA
in icelink's defense he linked his profile on his sig
i've seen blivsey on sonic retro
i found learningtimebuster in a rather popular tumblr blog (the blog's owner reblogged a thing from prozdvoices that LAT requested)
i saw kapus in the kirby club (i lurk there once in a blue moon)
i found jayoshi in the comments of a desire drive upload on yt
and i've seen saturn moriya and horikawa on retsupurae comments
EDIT: oh and i found pheonix on 4chan's /vr/ once

Re: Twattir Thraed
It's a lot more difficult on a smaller forum such as the talkhaus but on bigger forums that's not an unusual amount at all. On my main forum there's someone who made something like 25,000 posts over the last year or so. It's absurd. (Though they should be gone. No one likes them because they're an asshole shitposter who refuses to let a toxic attitude that was commonplace in one subforum die but he's a moderator and hasn't done anything to get himself demodded.)metasomnia wrote:I never noticed this until you pointed it out but... how the flying fleep did you get nearly 3000 posts in just over a year?

Re: Twattir Thraed
you know the weird thing about me is that even though i don't think i would be corrupted by the power of being a mod, i still think i wouldn't be able to handle the responsibility of it
like a pichugate would just be me cracking under pressure and me giving up my role
but anyways i don't think i can really handle anything, not like i'm much of a contributor or an 'of-note' person to be considered for a position like that anyway
idk if i'm really even trustworthy i don't think i've been around long enough

Re: Twattir Thraed
I passed up being a mod because it's just unwanted drama if something goes wrong, and there's been enough of that in real life the last year or two to keep me from wanting it when I'm on here. We don't have too many issues on the talkhaus, but I doubt I could've handled any of the blow-ups decently if in charge. No thanks.

Re: Twattir Thraed
I sometimes wish I were mod of something (other than a retired speedrunner's chat), but my sense of humor I think exaggerates the qualities that would make me a bad mod, idk. Also I do firmly believe that communities have a right to expel people they don't like to make the sort of community the community wants to be which apparently is a no-no nowadays. I do however think it should be used sparingly but what do I know

It wasn't sarcasm it was genuine. Like, "what do I know, right?" Because I'm not that brightPikabread wrote:probably more than metovarischkrasnyjeshi wrote:what do I know

I'm not surprised you were asked to be a mod, I was honestly kind of surprised you weren't one yetBean wrote:I passed up being a mod because it's just unwanted drama if something goes wrong, and there's been enough of that in real life the last year or two to keep me from wanting it when I'm on here. You probably made the right move though. You seem to have a perfect track record of not being involved in ANY drama despite being one of the oldest users still around which is impressive
I mod of a few subreddits but modding subreddits really involves no effort.
/r/coaxedintoasnafu which is a subreddit I made a few years ago for people to post dank memes and somehow has almost 15k subscribers now
/r/retsupurae which is just the subreddit for RP.
/r/benfolds which has never been super active but people that post are generally friendly. Not much to argue about so that shouldn't be a surprise

Re: Twattir Thraed
Does telling someone that other drugs exist count as medical advice?
Specifically does telling someone that MAOIs exist as well as SSRIs (but check with a doctor not some internet idiot) qualify as medical advice?
Like is this more like "i prefer acetaminophen because ibuprofen gives me ulcers" or more like "yeah totally mix that bleach with that ammonia"?
Would I be hurting or helping?

Re: Twattir Thraed
Since we seem to be sharing, I was once offered to be a mod for this one guy I watch on Twitch, about 15K followers, usually around 150-200 concurrent viewers. Turned it down because he has a points system in chat where you can time someone out for a minute if you have enough, but if I were mod I would have the responsibility to not use my hoard of them irresponsibly.
Hell, I think I'm one of the few OG viewers still around that hasn't been modded. Not that he needs another mod anyway, it's a pretty friendly chat and save a few games that have popped up here and there, the mods that are there regularly usually know the games being played or are sharp enough to spot a spoiler if someone drops one. Plus, you know, I have that hoard of points so I could pseudo-mod if need be. (Often to their chagrin and the tune of, "Just let the mods handle it if I'm doing something wrong, asshat." "You're not a mod! You don't have the right to do that!" )

It'd probably be best to just say 'ask your doctor about other medication options'. MAOIs are mad dangerous IIRC.tovarischkrasnyjeshi wrote:Does telling someone that other drugs exist count as medical advice?

Thanks, that's pretty much what happened actually. I did what I could to emphasize that I'm not expert, but the person has a lot of personal investment into something that SSRIs typically negatively affect. It's just really scary in retrospect, because it *is* liver-explodey, it's just I don't know if the benefits to the person outweigh the remote but potent chance of that happening. It's hard to do a risk analysis when you're weighing 1/300000 chance of megadeath against personal happiness from different side effects, especially if said person doesn't care about megadeath in general. My own doctor doesn't seem to think what I said is bad, so maybe I'm worried over nothing, but this isn't something to take lightly obviously...

Re: Twattir Thraed
I'm really sorry to hear that, but if she's your closest friend for that long, I'm nearly positive she's not lying to make you feel better. She probably really does care about you and whatever has come up has come up. Look at dummies like me, sometimes people disappear from others for a little bit. It's not a nice feeling, but it happens. So, I'm sorry.Leet wrote:i know she ain't cause she's still posting on the internet websites, which are the very same ones, that i am contacting her on
