Squeegee's Perler Bead Hoarde (MASSIVE UPDATE)

Post by Window Squeegee »

Oh wow... *dust everywhere* This was one of my first posts in the haus, and nothing really happened in it. Well, It's finally the time to update it. And a HUGE one at that. I have brought it upon myself to make EVERY SINGLE KANTO POKEMON ever made. I have currently made it a third of the way through. I though't I'd also share a few other things that I made. (Unfortunately, I also made a Doc Louis, but it is currently elsewhere.)
Image
Here's the big one, Featured in this picture is every single Pokemon up to Vileplume. Also featuring Diglett. And I have bigger sprites such as Omanyte, Mew, and Wingull. I also put up requests such as Drifloon for BKamakaze, Mareep for Fluffi-dono, and Misdreavus for a good friend of mine, Metasomnia.

The rest of my pictures are going to be in these spoilers because 7 images is a little too big for this post.
Image
Here is the time I made Link, His sword, and all of those items from Link to the Past, my favorite Zelda game.
Image
Three cheers for low quality everyone... HIp hip... eh. In this image I have Donkey Kong, Boomerang Bro, Dry Bones, A pirranha plant, A bob-omb, 2 mushrooms, A star, 3 goombas, A ? block, all the playable characters in Super Mario 3D Land, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Image
4 Yoshi's island guys
Image
3 Kirby guys
Image
Assorted Earthbound and other stuff.
Image
Shovel Knight, Pac man, and other stuff.

That is quite a hoard of Pokemon.
Are you going to cover your entire wall in them?

Also that misdreavus is awesome and your art is awesome!

Man, perler beads are great. I remember using them when I was ten. I should get some and make them again, they were so much fun.
Love your perler creations, Squeeg!

I thought I might expand my art thread beyond the perler bead genre. I think I'll update this page later when I get acess to more of my drawrings. For now, have a desperately confused and scared Mr. Saturn. Lazy illusion of flight included!

Update on the big Pokemon project! Now I've finished 103 mini sprites. I'm 2/3 of the way done. It's been a while since the last update.

Metapod and Gloom couldn't fit into the frame at the bottom.

That last post was about two weeks ago.

The project is finished now.

I think I shall celebrate this occasion with my favorite quote.
Image
"We are the scum, Beneath the skin, we are all ready. Was it not your sin, trapped the unicorn? Even now, the evil seed of what you done germinates within you."
- The Almighty Loaf
But seriously, This thing was so big I couldn't fit it into one picture, so I had to separate it into two pictures. Now for something different. I'm thinking Kirby's Adventure...

Man, that dedication! Very nice stuff.

I've never come in direct contact with them before, so I'm just curious... How do perler beads 'work' exactly?

It takes three things, the beads, the varying sizes of pegboards usually sold seperately, and the ironing paper that usually always comes with the other two. You place the different colored beads into pegs on the pegboard until the final design is made. At this point, you put the ironing paper over the design and iron it. After all the beads are attatched and stuck under the paper, you peel the paper off, flip it over, put the paper back on, and iron again. After that, it's finished.

I haven't posted here in a bit because I couldn't think of anything to make next. That was, until I unlocked a special something in Rebirth... potential Isaac spoilers.
Image

You unlocked... inspiration! The run where I got The Mind and The Soul was intense. I ended up getting Holy Mantle in the first item room, got Dead Cat a bit later from a devil deal, and became everyone's favorite cat. I can't wait until I find the Godhead in a run.

Oh yeah, art.

I've still been doing stuff, just been too lazy to post it here.
Here's all the bigger stuff, and by that I mean I've actually been making some MUCH bigger stuff than usual:

Misc. Stuff, featuring the Monado, the Bard, Doc Louis, and the Duck Hunt Dog:
Image
The GREAT substitute for actual boss fights in SMBX:
Image
A bunch of Kirby stuff (Kracko is the biggest thing I've ever made):
Image
And Zelda stuff, again:

Random Question, How do you make them stick to your walls? I'm trying to that with the 9 that I have, and 8 of them have fallen XD

I use tape, even though it isn't very good for the wall. I'm considering painting it at some point.
In your case, since you only have a few, I would reccomend using wall clings. I don't use them because tape is cheaper than them, especially for how many things I made. They're probably sold around the same area in any store that sells wall hooks.

So somewhere like Canadian tire (a general home store) or Michales (which is an art store)
Also for tape ideas, what kind of tape would be the best

Yeah, pretty much. As for tape, I think the best kind of tape may be masking tape, although I haven't tried it. Scotch tape is too weak to hold up anything that isn't paper, but duct tape is a pretty good. That is, if you don't care about peeling paint or wallpaper off a wall accidentally, anyway. Masking tape seems to be the best balance between the two. Not too weak, and not too sticky

masking tape is made for walls so that sounds about right. however, double-sided scotch tape may work nicely as well.

Progress on giant art project that I've been working on since Spring.
It's easily recognizable at this point. It won't even fit on a table at this point.
