Jungle is what drum n bass was before the drums got standardized into Kick [Pause] Snare [Pause] [Pause] Kick Snare aka Doof Crack, Doof-Crack. As opposed to Trance, Techno or (most) House's Kick [Pause] Clap [Pause] Kick [Pause] Clap [Pause] aka Doof Clap, Doof Clap. Obviously both can have hi-hats over them for that Uhn-Tiss Uhn-Tiss that Bloodhound Gang sang about.

For general recommendations, my favourite type of Trance is Goa Trance. To get into that I would recommend listening to PsycloneD's excellent YouTube series "This Is Goa Trance", which is a selection of his personal favourites, and he's got good taste. He also does a This Is Acid series which is good too, because hard acid is great.

Also, if you've ever thought to yourself "What would happen if drum n bass got crossed with trance and/or 80s synthpop and became much less serious?" then I would definitely recommend checking out John B. He's a really fun listen. Here's some of my favourites of his:

American Girls
Blue Eyeshadow
Electronic
Russian Bride

Some new favorites I've recently discovered if you're a fan of the Classical type:

Pierre-Gabriel Buffardin: Concerto for Flute No.5 in E minor
Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade / Gergiev

The second one's about 43 minutes, so if you have time I recommend listening to it.

Here's another piece that I've loved for some time now, it's not your usual orchestral music, but damn is it utterly intense. If you look at the score for this one it's really neat how a lot of the sounds heard in this piece are made.

Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima - Penderecki
(Also Warning for those with Headphones as it's pretty loud at the start.)

I've really enjoyed a lot of John Rutter stuff as of late. His stuff is really heart-warming to put it into terms, plus it can make for some nice songs to listen to during the Holiday Season.

Here's some that I've really liked, all performed by the Cambridge singers I think:

Angel's Carol (personal fav atm)
Candlelight Carol
Look to the Day (Best recording of the song I've found)

And now on a completely different tangent: I really love Starbomb, it's so silly and there are just so many parts that are so catchy. Here's one of my favorites:

Crasher-Vania

Also, The Glitch Mob came out with a new single like yesterday or today I think and that's pretty great as well.

I had a case of "why didn't I discover this earlier" today:
Currently listening to Vampire Weekend's album "Modern Vampiresof the City"

ninja e:Oh, still like "Starbomb"'s artistery and arrangements! I really like the multi-part vocals in the choruses.

The entirety of Casey's discography is free right now, so I'd heavily recommend picking stuff up while you can, especially the Paper Heart EP.

One of my favorite artists~

I try and get into noise here and there, mostly I just like Renard's takes on the genre though.

Here's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra; Movement 1 by Philip Glass.
Very minimalist piece and a really great one at that. Although some might not like it for it's repetition, I enjoy it a lot. It's pretty short since it's just the 1st movement, but give it a listen to as it's a tad hypnotic.

October by Eric Whitacre is a majestic piece that I've recently found. The one that's linked is played by a Band, although I have heard a chamber orchestra play it as well and it's just as great (Probably better but I'm biased). Also pretty short, so give it a listen!

I've been listening to a lot of Sabaton lately. It's a swedish power metal band whose songs are mostly related to war and swedish history. I recommend listening to Carolean's Prayer, Twilight of the Thunder God, White Death ( which I can play on the guitar) and Carolus Rex

So just about everybody I talk to knows that I love Jonsi, "Go" is one of my all-time favorite albums from him.

Buuuut I've also been delving into his group work recently! He used to be in a collective called Sigur Ros and they're really amazing too.

I've recently been going through another Hey Ocean! phase. You will definitely want to check out this band if you're into really good infectious indie pop music.

Although they're technically labelled under "pop", their sound goes to MANY different genres. They've got:

Feel-good Pop,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRU0qBUYSKs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTk6eY9EY5g

Blues R&B,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3yNX4AL0a8

Indie,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBnnOXdYPas

Tribal,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRU0qBUYSKs

And everything inbetween.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7ymx64OJiA

Did I mention that they're fantastic live?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuYyYmelsNk

Check 'em out. Their newest album "Is" is easily one of my favorite albums of all time, which is not an easy thing to achieve if you know me.

(Btw sorry for the link dump)

Video game OSTs...
Umm... Classical/Baroque stuff.
...Rush.

...Yeah, that's about it. Well, aside from a wealth of random one-offs I find myself liking here and there. Although, since I started Ergo Proxy I've found myself listening to a bit of Radiohead throughout the week. Might actually have something new to like here. :3
Been trying to get into music more lately and have been having my friends throw random bands and songs at me to see if anything sticks. Hasn't really worked much, but I'm keeping my hopes up that I'll find some. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Haha, me and my current musical tastes... Um, yeah. Mostly. Video game music. Kirby music. And by that I mean Jun Ishikawa. It's so bad that there's a song I acknowledge as being pretty damn close to a rip-off of one of his earlier songs and I still love it more than most of what Hirokazu Ando has written for Triple Deluxe.
