I've never played a Pokemon game in my life despite the fact that people think my username is a reference to the show when in actuality it's not a reference to anything.

This has been my contribution.

I think you misspelled Dragonite there.

Guy's bad-ass AND adorable.

Also I've been replaying Pokémon Red because reasons.

Planning on replaying Crystal and Emerald, then trying out Gen 4 and Gen 5 afterwards.

Guess I'll be the first advocate for Gen II, because Silver was my first Pokémon game. Also, now that I look back on it, I've noticed how many improvements had been made and a lot of glitches had been fixed since Gen I. I especially liked the new Eeveelutions from those games (Umbreon and Espeon), and of course the fact of how the plot tied in with the first games. Something small but cool was the introduction of the HMs' access through the overworld, instead of having to go into the menu to use them.
LukaRamu wrote:I still don't understand why everyone hates Gen 4
Because for some, it was simply the end of "the classics." For me, it ended after Gen II, but I also grew up with R/S/E. Plus, people just plain didn't like the new Pokémon (but that's everyone's excuse for all new Gens). You gotta be honest and admit that the music from Gen IV wasn't too memorable, except for Orebourgh and Snowpoint. Though, it's the same for Gen III, if you don't count Ever Grande, Sootopolis, and the Secret Chamber.
Ashanmaril wrote:I've never played a Pokemon game in my life
Oh. OH. This needs to change.

Also, although many aren't too fond of the console games, I loved XD, and because it's apparently the prequel and a great game, I should find Colosseum and try it.

Well, that took longer than expected

Hoenn is the best region because of its design, the music and the whole environmental awareness story or whatever. And Gen III is the one with the beauty/whatever competitions that are actually fun.

I'd say V is the best Gen so far, it has a good approach like Bartle said, it made a whole new beginning: It started at Route 1 again, there are 150 new pokemon with no older ones mixed in, overall it felt a lot like playing Gen I back in the days. And while we're at it, Gen V doesn't have more dumb pokemon than Gen I, look at Voltorb, Exeggcute, Jynx, Hitmon[MARTIAL ART FIGHTER NAME], the general design is still the same. And the bad guys are actually kinda cool for once!

Gen III is right behind V, then with some distance Gen II, it's really good too.

I and IV are just nothing special, while I still has its nostalgia value, which makes IV overall the worst, but its music is really nice.

Seriously the people who go "THERE ARE ONLY 151 POKEYMANS HERBLERGH" are cancer and should be punched in the face.

Not that the later gens don't have stupid looking Pokémon, but genwunners are extremely obtuse.

Good luck for me. Cause in my young years without Money, i had no one to buy a DS. After i see the IV-Gen i just says to me "Damn are those Pokemon shitty". Later then Gen V came with some intresting Pokemon. So there was the Point where i buy´d my actual 3DS...
I should never do that again and hate a Generation only by the Pokemans...

The only intresting stuff in Gen IV is the Tweaking-Glitch. Unlucky, i dont have an second 3DS to trade an Tweaking-Shaymin into my White 2-Edition.

I actually can´t wait for Gen VI now. And this only for that friggin Fennekin! (Let´s begin the Fire/Fighting-Jokes!)

Other thing is: Some Pokémon-Names sounding in german better as in the English-Version :S
Minccino is an good example. When i see a Chinchilla-Like Pokémon, i do not think on pants of that x.X
Good that i used the german Name of it as my Username there

And sometimes... soem nation really need to go off-track with a worldwide Used Name. Everytime i read Bianca (aka Bell in the rest of the World) in the English posts (or in memebase)... I just think of the Miltank-Bitch from Jotho wich her Name in german IS Bianca too >.<
Otherwise... we germans renamed Iris into Lilia..... dafuq?

You know what I hate, Picochilla?
People who have no idea of Pokemon names and pronounce "Glurak" in an English manner or "Bulbasaur" in a German manner.
But I find the German Pokemon names generally too obvious, Geodude = Kleinstein ("small rock"), as an example.

You underestimate Whimsicott's movepool! Prankster makes his move set incredibly OP. Even in the current metagame, after ~3 years to adapt and develop counters, a support Whimsicott is notoriously hard to deal with. A sub-seeder will wreak NPCs and wreak havoc over anyone who doesn't have a grass type on their team.

Dangerously cute.

I remember getting an Archen from Germany using the GTS, and when I saw the name, I really wanted it to retain it when it evolved.

I don't like the DS Pokemons because it's just the same thing over and over again

Like every game, maybe there's improved graphics, maybe there's more Pokemanz, maybe it's a new place, but it's all the same. Fight wild pokemon and you have rivals sometimes and get the gym badges and go fight the champion and elite four hooray you win. I do think the ending of B/W is unique and I like it and stuff though. But really, they never seem to add any new gameplay besides like the triple battle or whatever, but honestly that doesn't add much, at least for me.

I really liked Pokemon while I was experiencing it for the first time, it's just that with every DS game that came out I got more and more burnt out.

EDIT: Oh yeah, zigzagoon. Best Pokeman.

Many game sequels are the same thing again. Many people still enjoy them.
They make them the same so that kids from this generation can enjoy the same thing that people liked back when the first one just came out, instead of hunting for a Gameboy and Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow.
Iffff that makes sense.

To be fair, each one actually has a lot of changes. Gold/Silver added two more types and the ability to hold items, Ruby/Sapphire added abilities, D/P changed the entire attack system in regards to what stats they used, and Black/White changed the exp. gain formula so it wasn't laughably easy to noob your way through the entire game with a Swampert or whatever. They're fairly fundamental changes, but because the style of the games stays roughly the same, a lot of people brush over them since they're more mechanics based.

Also, Noctowl is my favourite.

Yeah, the early gens were neat because they added stuff like new types and other whatnots.
I dunno.

The Pokemon TV used to be better too, I think.
EDIT: Not sure why I'm thinking about all the negative things in Pookemon all of a sudden

Ah, the much-debated "Light" or "Fairy" type.
Could be Flying... Then again, people have speculated on Fighting, Dragon and Normal too, and I used that in the "wagered money" sense.

Personally, I just think it's weird.
