Any remaining level slots left after the cutoff point for standard levels will be reserved for "Bowser's" Castle, JUMP1⁄2 Rest Areas and possibly a postgame final level depending on how the team is energy wise (stretch goal in ASMT gamedev terms), preferably no more than one serious custom boss for me to code on this project tho, I'm not very good at thinking of boss attack patterns.

If you're able to, please try to work on your level and give us some Updates on what the fuck is goin' on? Let's get this finished in the next few months.

UPDATE: I might change davidvama's to another slot due to how the vanilla ending works, but I'll see if I can edit the ending's code to move around the decorations + change their graphics? And/or change the level slot for the ending. I'm open to messing with Mario World's internals super hard so, Mesen-S and Shex are primed and ready and I have at least two of the commented disasms on my hard drive and I'm down to just debugging SMW to try and understand things. (EDIT: SMWC has this shit documented, we are good to go brothaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssss)

Valentine told me a few weeks ago that if she's not done by like the end of the project or whatever, to cut her level. She's busy with a bunch of stuff, online and rl.

Big Brawler also finished a stage, Sui Glide, which I have been forgetting to insert like an idiot. They might want to make one more level, I'm not sure? Sorry, I've just been swamped with gaymes. Same goes for my Sky Sanctuary ripoff, still haven't progressed too much.

I want to do a few more levels yes, but have no ideas as of now, just concepts, plus, my levels are just ol' vanilla platforming, nothing spectacular or crazy

I know what you're trying to say, but Sui Glide is damn impressive regardless of vanilla status. I do worry the current name is still a bit too close to "suicide", but I'm willing to let it stay if everyone's just fine with it. It is a level about

gliding with P Balloons and it's based on like two Sui levels, Voltic Tower and the Balloon stage in Sui Luigi

I'm honestly thinking of replacing the music in my level, I feel like taking the time to rejigger my Zwei!! Serpentina port to not get murdered by the sound effects ingame is a bit too much effort to spend in the current timeline of the project?



I'm gonna post some thoughts on the current state and what we could do in the foreseeable future to get the project to a sort of temporary finish line in the AAT thread, should be up after this post.

OP updated to get the new levels and claims and insertions accounted for!!!!!!!!

I'm going to add a large amount of the custom sprites to be Per-Level Sprites now, so if you want to add more custom sprites to your levels, feel free, but please let me know what you've added and their respective ID so I can edit your stages accordingly before I push a baserom with per level support on the PIXI insertion batch file.

I do know Disk Poppy is going through a rough time right now (13/01), so I can understand if he's postponing his work for Gulp^2 until he gets better. What I played of it was pretty interesting if jank, so I'd like it to be completed in some hack, if not AAT.

Valentine also has real life troubles, I think she told me to remove her claim if she hasn't had it finished by like February or smth? Jipples is also going through a lot, and I think Nao's away from the project also due to real life stuff. Bumpty is also busy, or at least they were during the holidays? They posted once on the Discord since, apologizing for being away.

I cannot go into detail on all of these, it'd be a breach of their boundaries, but the people on the project are free to give up any level if they need it to focus on their mental health or anything else. We have enough levels to make up a full game, there is no need to fill up the main level slots entirely. Just take care of yourselves.

Just dropping a note to say I don't think I'll be finishing my level. I haven't had any desire to work on it since like the week this project started and with how busy I've been from school and other stuff...

It is fairly close to done (revisions aside), and if anyone wanted to finish it up, I'd be happy to send over the files and stuff.

Though who knows, maybe when the deadline is looming, I'll scramble to finish it.

EDIT: I had removed it from the spreadsheet, though now I'm wondering if that was a good idea or not lol. I readded it as one of the few extra slots (20)

If you have a claimed level in progress, it might be good idea to check in with how things are going. If you have 1 of the 🤷‍♂️ levels, you should rectify that and give it a status; If we don't hear from you, I guess we'll have to assume you've gone MIA and won't be sending anything in by the 29th (though this shouldn't be an issue unless we fill every slot and someone still wants in, idk how Koba would want to deal with that situation?). Also, if anyone knows someone with an active level claim, maybe check up on them and see if they're still good for the 29th?

Also, please try to make sure to the credits sheet is up to date with everyone you need to credit. It would save us time/hassle when doing up the credits.

Again, we should ping them for any status updates. If the level can't be finished by the due date, my suggestion is that we salvage what was completed, and open it up as another multiperson collab level (due the same day as the Final Castle collab level). It could probably go into the postgame as the penultimate level or something, since the original conceit behind this was "the entire special world of SMW but remixed to be hard".

I asked Jolpe about it ~2 weeks ago on discord and they said "Idk i only made 1 of the 8 sections lol"

I do kinda like that idea, though it might be interesting to expand it to be more than just the SMW special world; would make a fun bookend to the intro level.

Some interesting notes/facts about the inserted levels since i want something else to write:
  • We currently have 13 "levels of importance". 4 are switch palaces, 7 have end bosses, and the other 2 are "boss adjacent"
  • 43 levels don't support Cat Llamas. 1 is fixable by possibly moving sprite graphics to not overwrite the tongue graphic, 3 are fixable if can find a way to prohibit fireballs, and 1 is a conflict is podobos, which might be fixable with a patch
  • There are currently 95 exits
  • 226/418 sublevels have been used
  • 55 levels have raocoins
  • 28 levels use switch blocks

If you're working on a level and might need a bit more time, just send something playable in by the 29th, enough that we can gauge where to place it into the overworld.
