okay but can we trust the current touhou fanbase to not shit their pants over the endings being on youtube. i haven't been on maidens of the kaleidoscope for almost a decade and the STOP HELEPOLIS incident over using official touhou art in danmakufu scripts is still fresh in my memory even if it was from like 2012.

I like how nobody's actually voted for a certain infamous suggestion yet, like we're kind of tacitly ignoring that it exists.
If I only had to pick one, I would put my money on og DOOM.

Copy Kitty Hard
I looked at the list before looking at the thread so I didn't realize people would be listing multiple things. But some other notable ones from memory are Mario Galaxy for 3D platforming as well as Suguri for shmups. SMW hacks and SMBX stuff are also almost always interesting.

okay so like there was this one prolific danmakufu maker, danmakufu being a sort of fan engine for bullet hell games based on touhou, you may have heard of like. concealed the conclusion by danmaq? that was made in it. and said prolific fan boss/fan spellcard author was called Helepolis and he posted a lot on Maidens of the Kaleidoscope, a touhou fan forum.camwoodstock wrote: ↑2 years agothe... the what incident?? you have our attention please infodump abt thisKobaBeach wrote: ↑2 years agookay but can we trust the current touhou fanbase to not shit their pants over the endings being on youtube. i haven't been on maidens of the kaleidoscope for almost a decade and the STOP HELEPOLIS incident over using official touhou art in danmakufu scripts is still fresh in my memory even if it was from like 2012.
He tended to upload videos of his fan bosses on youtube and nico nico, but the catch here is that he tended to make them using official touhou art ripped from the games and music, which valid. but one of the requests zun had to fans (along with like. don't spoil the endings) is "don't reuse official art and music in your fangames".
and in one of his touhou fan videos, one day he like. recieved a fucking nico comment that, keep in mind nico comments are on top of the video. and someone from japan just plastered a point in his video with like STOP HELEPOLIS. ZUN Asked To Not Use Official Art In Fangame. Please Stop This As Soon As Possible. or whatever and it just. exploded into a meme on motk and maybe pooshlmer too? pooshlmer being an old touhou imageboard (ala 4chan) that im pretty sure is dead now.
helepolis later stopped using official touhou art, but i don't know if he still posts or makes fan bosses/spellcards. i remember his avatar was a picture of remilia flipping the bird with the custom title "OJOU-SAMA!".

Funny how people would get mad about fangame makers disrespecting ZUN when ZUN constantly disrespects the fanbase and his own game series. (Then again, if that was 2012, I think things weren't complete shit yet. I dunno, time is an illusion.)
Forgive my going off-topic. Still no idea what kind of black magic y'all are employing to make that list appear since I've tried it on 3 different browsers (including mobile) and all of them wielded the same result.

Re: Here is the famous bucket.txt What inside do you look forward to the most ?
another fucking post because i gotta state this
i only didn't vote klonoa or smw gaiden or anything of the sort because jetpack was actually super special for me as a kid, it was one of the first games i ever played with a level editor so i used to make some silly bad levels in it (they're lost to the ether now) and it was generally a super fun little lode runner like.
it's because of games like this and supaplex (dos boulder dash clone with a computer parts aesthetic, iirc there's a freeware windows remake) that i have such fond memories of dos shareware and lode runner deserves a spot if by technicality. do consider lode runner too as a game to play. maybe one of the pc versions, since they have all the levels? iirc i mostly played the nes version which only has like 50. fun fact there was also an sg-1000 version and it had like 70. cartridges too smol.
don't do championship. it's the romhack of lode runners (all the stages are actually made by enthusiasts in the level editor) but in a sort of kinda kaizo or jump or vip way where it expects you to know the ins and outs and minutia really really well, i have never played it and i dread playing it, but i kinda wanna, like wizardry 4.

Re: Here is the famous bucket.txt What inside do you look forward to the most ?
Thanks! Curse lifted, sorta!
Now I can scream Klonoa!!!! along with everyone else!
But also, for less standard LPs, I think Chrono Trigger would be interesting (it's a very gateway RPG and has no timed button presses, so I think it could work). Also Dark Souls, just for the meme and to see raocow somehow kill Ornstein and Smough in one try (while dying 200 times to like, Centipede Demon or some shit). Scribblenauts could also be a good time (though I'd highly suggest Unlimited, the original one is kinda crap imo). For non-Klonoa standard platformer stuffs, I think Trine would be real fun, since it's all about breaking puzzles.~

yes but there is one important detail and that is raocow doesn't have to grind ever unless he like really wants luminaireEllenHouraisan wrote: ↑2 years ago But also, for less standard LPs, I think Chrono Trigger would be interesting (it's a very gateway RPG and has no timed button presses, so I think it could work).
it would be too obvious for me to vote a jrpg though

That is also true. And even then, if he gets lucky with the "metal slimes" of the game, luminaire isn't even that hard to get.

There's a lot on this list that I would like to see you play. But for the sake of keeping this short, here's a list of 20 games that stand out to me. My top pick is listed first and in bold.
My picks:
1. Super Metroid and A Link to the Past Crossover Randomizer
2. A Plumber For All Seasons
3. R-ACK
4. Seawar Mario World
5. SMW: Gaiden
6. Super Isikoro Mario World
7. SMWC Island
8. Banjo
9. Yooka-Laylee
10. Jumper
11. Super Magbot
12. Metroid Prime
13. Axiom Verge
14. Ori and the Will of the Wisps
15. Super Mario Sunshine
16. A Hat in Time: Death Wish
17. Enter the Gungeon
18. Crypt of the NecroDancer
19. Super Smash Bros. Melee: Event Matches
20. "Random Week"
Comments:
1. This LP will be mold-breaking and fun to watch. It'll also be a way to get you to play a Super Metroid hack again, as well as LP a Zelda game for the first time.
2-6. The SMW hacks. Your SMW hack LPs are my favorite LPs to watch. I only chose the hacks that I've heard of.
7. It's been too long since you last LPed a Yoshi's Island hack.
8-9. The Banjo-likes. I suppose "Banjo" refers to Tooie now?
10-11. The retro-styled precision platformers. I assume "Jumper" refers to Maddy Thorson's old game. It has a remake and several sequels, too. Super Magbot is such mind-melting fun, and I love it.
12-14. The Metroidvanias. In 2020, you played a first-person shooter game. Let's see how you handle a first-person adventure game (i.e., Metroid Prime). Axiom Verge is a great Metroidvania with some good action elements and creepy visuals. There's a sequel that came out last year, though I haven't touched it yet.
15-16. The Super Mario 64/Sunshine-likes. Sunshine is a really cozy game. Death Wish is really hard, but I just want to see more Hatricia.
17-18. The roguelikes. Either of these would also be a mold-breaking LP. I'm interested to see how you would handle a roguelike (not to mention CotN being a rhythm game, too). I know this is not a thread to suggest additional games, but it might be worth looking at Cadence of Hyrule on the Switch, too.
19. I'm also curious about your Smash Bros. playstyle, though it'll be against the computer.
20. I miss when you did random weeks of Flash games. It's a good way to highlight extremely obscure games that you never would've thought existed.

So, is this thread actually going to count, or are we just giving up any pretense of picking a single candidate?
I boldfaced my primary choice if it helps. Don't know if some others will.
