Mostly I do it with soundfont from Doom 2D fan game soundtrack. Besides I also created some 8-bit styled remixes.

how long does working on a track like these take?

Depends of track + mine physical & mental condition. It's at least a day & more. Last cover took over a week.

Some RPG Maker music

i keep forgetting the later rpg makers just come with the most twisted fucking high quality royalty free tracks
it kind of counters the blandness of the default ui and overworld character sprites compared to 2k/2k3's vibes

the default tilesets are still good, i just have dumb nostalgia for the dithering seen in like refmap and rmxp shit and ancient japanese windows games like ys 2 eternal and legend of heroes 4's windows remake
