Gee, I forgot I had an account here.
This is a Mario sprite I'm working on. It's for an SMBX episode, so I'm trying to make it fit in the same space as the original graphic. I might be doing fine, but if needed we can always use LunaLua to change the player sprite's size, right?
So what I want to know before I make any more poses is: does it look weird? Is the palette good (please bear with me for this one because I'm colorblind)? Does it look better with a black outline or a colored outline? etc. etc.

Re: Enchlore tries to make sprites
it's alright, although knowing a bit of mario, his nose isn't as floppy, everything else is nice enough :)

Re: Enchlore tries to make sprites
Yeah his nose might be a little offmodel. My first version of the sprite had a nose that looked pointy so I tried to fix that. I don't think I can do much to it without making the nose go over his eyes or completely respriting the head.
By the way I tried to smooth out the shading and tweaked the palette on the shoes and outlines:

Re: Enchlore tries to make sprites
I further modified the face, mainly the nose, and consequently had to change the body. I think the result looks better. I also changed the palette once again and did away with the black outline version.
Also working on a rocky mountain tileset. I'm not that experienced on making tilesets so I'll need all the advice I can get on how to improve this one. Please tell me if the palette is looking right - the rocks are supposed to be gray, but when choosing the colors I often got shades that looked a bit like brown to me.

Re: Enchlore tries to make sprites
Started a walking animation. I'm not very confident on it, his right foot looks too small on the third frame but when I made it bigger it didn't look like it was moving.

Re: Enchlore tries to make sprites
I've seen that image before, but I'm working with a frame limit so I can't make the animation a real full circle.
Here I make Mario's body bob up and down to make the animation smoother. I hope it works.

Re: Enchlore tries to make sprites
This is far smoother than the previous version. :)
Re: Enchlore tries to make sprites
After many failed attempts to make a decent star shape, I've settled on what I thought was my best try.
