Darky's Modeling TF2 Weapon Stuff What May Be Cosidered Art

So, for the last couple of months or so I've been teaching myself how to use blender by creating, alongside BBB, a fairly large, currently unfinished TF2 skin pack with weapons based on a entertain video game. Once I felt fairly comfortable with the program I decided to work on an original thing so I made this...
Image[working title]
and I'm really quite proud of it.
You can click here if you want it.

Uhmm... well I guess I should talk about what I've done most recently on this, probably.
So, the other night I just got done creating some LoD models.Imagemost of it was pretty easy, just went through and flattened faces together and dissolved some vertices. But because of how it was shaped doing the same things couldn't be done to the wire, so I had to delete and remodel the wire twice, once for each LoD.

P.S. This is why I was complaining about the lack of good toaster sound effects a few days back. I ended up creating my own with my own toaster, it turned out pretty good for being recorded with a headphones microphone.

Also, I'm not really sure if i should have put this in the project showcase, the mods can move it if they want to, I guess.

Maybe you should consider uploading the stuff you are doing for TF2 in the Steam Workshop?

I would totally vote for this, because everyone loves toasters! And killing people with toasters is even more awesome!

Yeah, I'll do that pretty soon, I just want to finish it first.
edit: and come up with a better name.

So, here's a huge pile of stuff, I'm still working on getting some renders, (because working with SFM is kinda a pain)
Image
This is a skin pack, it replaces 6 items with brand new models 1 with a slightly changed one, re-textures 5 more, replaces the hit sound and crit sound, replaces the crit popup effect, changes bp icons, and changes some weapon noises and kill icons.

Also everything is based on stuff in mother 3

edit:So, I did one render of one of the models that does work.

Okay, so, I can't get any of the weapons to render in sfm; I had this problem when I did the toaster render, and I don't remember what I did to fix it. If anyone has any ideas that'd be great.
Nevermind, I figured it out.

So I made this

But the image I used only showed one side of the scissors and I kinda had to imagine the other side and it ended up kinda weird and I was really unhappy how it turned out, it fit in the hand weird and i couldn't really get it to look right...
So I started from scratch. I actually took a picture of both sides a pair of fabric shears that I had and restarted the modeling process. And here is how it's looking.

Having the real physical object to look at and hold when modeling is really helpful too.

okay, so I redid it and I really like how it looks I'm probably going to redo the texture but other than that I think it looks pretty great!

Looks pretty sweet for a "prototype".

I'm not sure if it's possible, but there should be an animation where Spy just clips the scissors for fun why he's holding it upright.

I've always said: "One of the weapons I'd love to see added, would be scissors for the Spy."
I'm happy to see that someone with the skills actually made one. :)
You go Darky~

Man, I'm having enough trouble changing the first person holding animation

Okay, so I've learned of the magic of edge-splitting in order to make distinct "faces" and i also redid the texture.

I've also been trying to re-animate the spy's straight blade animations with varied success.

I'm trying to get it to look like this...

ehh... maybe I should just find someone that's actually good at this kinda thing to do it.

This looks pretty great so far!

Out of the 3 idle stances, I think the third one seems to be the most fitting one

Okay, then! It's all done, animations are finished and inserted. Now all I need before I send it off to Valve is to get a good looking render.
Here's the link!

I've been working on a cosmetic to go with the Crafty Cutter. Someone added me on steam and suggested a pin cushion made to look like an engineer. I decided to make one for each of the spy's main targets, the engineer, the sniper, and the medic, it's called The Pin Head. Here's how they look so far.

I also made another that was supposed to look like an unfinished suit, I didn't think turned out well, it's called The Offed Outfitter.

Give em' some stubble and hair and they actually become reasonable facsimiles of the heads of the engie sniper and medic.

Now I just have to find a bone to attach them to, after that it's off to the workshop.

I'm deciding between putting them on his chest where the badges go (medal_bone), hanging off his right hip (bip_hip_R), or on his right wrist (bip_hand_R), so there's a poll up top.

I made another weapon, this one's a spy melee again, this one's a chisel called "the passing intrest", but it kinda lacks character, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this thing, I'll probably rework it.

Also, I took really long to get this shot, mostly because the blue spy's world model textures are in 2 different files in sfm for whatever reason.
Image
I don't really know why i did this either, because I don't really intend to make a set.
