i know that the author intended it like that but i feel that if i were playing the game, i wouldnt necessarily have made that connection. idk

really i would want it to be changed less because of that and more because a much much cooler appearance in general for an ultimate flying form could be made

You might not have noticed or been bothered, but you can't assume every other talkhaus member would react the same way. And that's the problem: he was making an engine specifically for the talkhaus. He said he was "too busy making his own games" to do anything with it, this was for "the people who make these games", and he insisted on keeping the powerup in the engine for the sake of "appealing to other bronies" and "spinning off a meme while it's still hot".

I'm a fan of the show myself, but I'm not a fan of folks trying to force FiM on non-fans and that's effectively what he was doing -- "Hey guys, I'm making this cool 3D engine for you to make an ASMT game with. Like it? Awesome, now that you're all hyped up about it, one of the powerups has to be this winged horse because I think it's fun, don't ruin my fun."

It's like if I were to include a bunch of old characters and tired jokes in Moonpep-wait a second

I think... The thing is that if you're familiar with dinosaurs, you can get that it's a 'reference', but if you're not, then it's just this awesome rainbow-haired flying powerup, that I think it 'fits in' with all the other powerups causing clothing/hair color changes. Rainbow hair just seems pretty rad for an 'ultimate' powerup like that. So I wouldn't see a problem with it myself, but if it were indeed "shoehorned in" then I'd consider it more questionable. Or something. I dunno, nevermind.

...Wonder if I should contact the guy and see if he still has those files, because being able to make a 3d game like that (or at least a handful of levels) could be pretty cool...

I think rainbows can be seen as cool just by virtue of being rainbows.

Arright, now to contribute something original to this thread besides dinosaur drama.
I got back to school after a weekend with my family and ended up being dropped off at the opposite side of the campus from my dorm with a heavy duffel bag. I figured I'd take the shuttle to save myself a bit of trouble but I missed my stop and ended up riding into town. So to pass the time I figured I'd sketch out some ugly doodles without reference
And then I did one that looked somewhat decent so I did a quick color job in Photoshop



Dunno if this ninja knight fellow is an OC or a canon character in disguise. You decide!

Those are some nice pics, though I particularly like the the one of Doormaze.

I'm not sure what to think of the identity of the knight...

I'm not completely discounting the possibility of it being a toothy grin, but to me the hoodless head makes it look more like an eye. That was my first impression as well, though.
