Any Mario level made or seen in LP this year should count.

YUMP 38 - Doesn't deserve to be named.

Not even the four-part (minimal) (Maximal) brought me as much frustration watching as that one above did.

ASPE 2-3 Summit of the Gods (secret exit if it wasn't obvious)

YUMP's worst level isn't as long and was made that way on purpose. This however is in a non joke hack and uses all the possible ASM to make the experience as bad as possible.

minimal/maximal is just too precise/has checkpoint starvation/is 4 whole levels in one.

minimal/Maximal is worse on a positive effort-to-result ratio, in that the effort put in was great and the end result was a frustrating gauntlet that was at times promising but ultimately disappointing - four times over, hammered into the ground.

YUMP 38 is worse on a negative effort-to-result ratio, it that it ironically had minimum effort for maximum frustration and suffering.

I have to go with m/M.

For YUMP 38 and Summit of the Gods Part 2, at least they were just one video. minMax lasted an agonizing *four days*.

Min/Max at least had some interesting things to watch and was carefully constructed even if it pushed everything way too far. In a different context, it could even work pretty well, I think.

YUMP 38 was made to be as uninteresting and frustrating as possible with as little effort as possible, to drag on as a long grind way beyond its welcome, and with no attempt whatsoever to give it any redeeming qualities. The whole reason YUMP worked was because even when things were deliberately done poorly, those gaffes were used to do something interesting or amusing or worthwhile in some way, or at least made an effort to do so. Just making something as bad as possible with no purpose other than being bad and then slapping an embarrassing name on it doesn't really accomplish anything.

Summit of the Gods from Super ASPE Mario

The video in question and the video description:

over time I took a habit of kind of editing around my angrier bits because I understand a significant part of my audience aren't a fan of those. But. I felt that today... I had to keep things honest. I have a history of looking back on levels with kinder eyes.

I want to immortalise my feelings for this level.

And the level author was too stubborn to heed feedback that a midpoint should be added.

minimal/Maximal from me, though Diaphanous Diffraction Randomizer is close. That level was BAD.

I suspect that somehow some players won't be
able to clear this level that of which I am quite
consistent at. This level was designed for normal-
skilled players with a non-grindy difficulty; but if
this level presents too high of a difficulty, they
can personally modify this.
You can use cheat 'donthurtme' for the godmode,
which is supported in the LunaLUA code.

I want to further elaborate on why I chose minMax over YUMP 38, even though the latter was abjectly *worse*.

First, there's the fact that YUMP 38 was essentially a joke level slapped together in probably 20 minutes or less, for the express purpose of making players cry. The worst part about it is that it was placed in such a way where it was *required* in order to proceed, which was more a flaw on the one who set up the world, rather than the level itself. minMax, meanwhile, was not only someone's serious attempt, with actual thought put into its design, but it was also in a *contest*. And second, there's that infamous, now memetic among the forums, unintentionally arrogant-sounding message in the LUA code.

So yes, YUMP 38 is a *worse* level, but when you take into account all the factors, minMax comes out ahead (or behind?) to me.

Frankly I don't see why this should be a thread, I feel like we've collectively shat on these three levels more than enough when they came up the first time :T
But as long as we're here - as somebody who didn't like minMax and has "defended" GAY SHT for knowing exactly what it wants to be and going all-out with it - at least minMax had more than one obstacle repeated like 40 times :v GAY SHT is the objective correct answer, rather by design, even.
