Best Game 2017

This topic should get a wide variety of votes as 2017 was an awesome year for video game releases. Which one of them was your favorite?

Breath of the Wild, hands down.

Super Mario Odyssey for me since I haven't played Zelda yet. You have no idea how close I was to putting Sonic Mania here. It really was such a great return for 2D Sonic, but Mario wins out in the end for me.

Other games I enjoyed this year include Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Metroid: Samus Returns, what little I've gotten to play of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and currently, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

So many great games this year, but I'd have to go with Breath of the Wild as well. Mario Odyssey is definitely a close second, though.

NieR: Automata left the biggest impact - sorry, I didn't play P5 yet, and Hollow Knight was fantastic but didn't move me like the [E]nd of N:A.

Breath of the Wild was enjoyable but... the difficulty 'curve', or lack thereof, and the weak bosses and healing system, weapon breakage... it's just not got the immensely strong moments that make me love a game.

...it's... well, the only game released this year I've actually *played*. So it gets my vote by default. Doesn't hurt that it's a fun, cute, charming game. :3

Breath of the Wild
It's far from perfect but I think it's the defining game of the year, hands down. I can't think of any game in recent memory that had as much of an impact, like, where I'm seeing people I follow on Twitter for non-video-game-related reasons that are posting screenshots and clips of BotW

Honestly, there are so many good choices for the top pick this year, but it sucks I haven't been able to play most of them.

I loved BotW but i had an absolute blast with Odyssey the whole way through. BotW may be the more "important" game of the two but my biased ass has gotta go with Mario.
