How do I change the properties of section backgrounds when changing their graphics?

Some backgrounds tile, some backgrounds animate, some backgrounds have parallax scrolling- how do I modify these values? I can't find anything on the wiki OR the manual, which appear to be written for an older version of the editor and don't appear to have ALL relevant info for every feature...

The handbook is written for the version of the editor that comes with the SMBX2 MAGLX3 build. To modify parallax of backgrounds, you need to create a background2-#.ini file, where # is the ID of your background (which is the number next to it in the editor). You can then add layers and set their depth to control the parallax. Enjls video tutorials have a video on configurable backgrounds, so I suggest you check them out.

Honestly, I'm a little confused as to why you think the handbook was made for an earlier version. Are you sure you downloaded SMBX2 MAGLX3?

Yeah, I downloaded it straight from the thread. ...you know, come to think of it, I've forgotten why I felt the manual was written for an earlier version aside from slightly-outdated images. Huh. Ignore that complaint, then~

Slightly outdated images? I took them all straight from the dev build in the week preceeding the release.

Did you in fact download SMBX2 Beta 3, and not SMBX2 MAGLX3? Get your download from here:

Did you in fact download SMBX2 Beta 3, and not SMBX2 MAGLX3? Get your download from here:

The install says MAGLX3 so I got the right one.

Then the images should look identical. Could you maybe post some screenshots so we can see why you think the handbook is "outdated"?

Nah, don't worry about it- it's probably just my imagination. I just took another look- my main concern was the lack of any information on the Script menu option, but...that's visible in all the images. Any other changes I've noticed merely have A2XT graphics, a lack of the "edit background .ini" option on the background selector, and all the GUI icons are vastly different and don't match the SMBX ones actually seen in the editor.

The icons at the top mean your config pack is somehow not set up for SMBX. Are you opening the editor by running SMBX2.exe and hitting Create? That should have the correct config pack by default.
Unless the bottom image is from your editor in which case... wait... Are you talking about the MAGLX3 handbook or something else? The MAGLX3 handbook should be what you're using:

Okay I didn't know MAGLX3 had its own handbook. I was speaking of the help page that opens when you go to Help -> Contents
