Did you put a period in your level name somewhere? If so, take it out.

I'm fairly happy with the outcome of my level. Last minute testing and antivirus shenanigans, hell yeah.

Blivsey, have you double-checked that your level and level folder have exactly the same name, and that the level isn't in the level folder itself but in the directory the level folder is in? That and the period issue are all I can think of.

I spent so long working on graphics that I didn't have enough time making a level, oh well. I think I'll finish this with like 10MB of graphics and dump it for A2MBXT after this all settles down. T'was amazingly fun though, I'd rather submit an amazing level then a half-arsed one. I have to applaud Horikawa for being so brave with managing multiple sites here. Round of applause for the queen!

Given that I'm a hub designer for this dumb contest, I like to think I know my way around SMBX. Apparently there are still surprises...

Sadly, that's outside the "things I learned how to fix because I messed them up with my own level". The only guess I have is that it relates to that "sorting priority" option in Wohl's editor - according to the accompanying text, that doesn't actually get saved due to the limitations of the .lvl files or something, so if you were relying on that, it's not going to work.

Hopefully my level was good. Kinda vanilla though, although I did use a few custom sprites though. I had a few close calls on my level though, the SMBX editor crashed on me a few times.

Oh man I ran into that problem when I did my level. There are some background graphics that just plain want to be in front of everything, but I'm not sure which ones. Even if you try placing them behind something they will appear in front when you reload the level, which might have been what happened to you.

Make sure you reload often so the graphics look right! But yeah I'm not sure how to fix that problem either unless you replace other background graphics.

About the character I chose:

I would have made playing Peach an option (two character level instead of one character), with different powerups for the two characters and custom graphics for both if I had joined this contest sooner.

About what little graphics I changed:

Personally, I wanted to replace the SMB3 wood tile graphics with fleshy-walled Womb Level graphics of my own design. Of course, editing GIF sprites in MSPaint prevents me from changing the palette so this wasn't an option for me unless I did something drastic and time-consuming.
