It was long and he said there wasn't any good spots to break up the video, so he uploaded it to viddler.

Thanks for the info! I searched his website and his youtube profile but didn't find any hints about his 8-3-video. Do you know where raocow posts these kinds of information? I bet he postet it on his website in the video thingies section, but I can't find a way to access older news.

He posted it in the video description of the other video he was doing that day (I think it was World of Illusion)

Now this is what I would call a bad place to put such information. I found it in the Mario Forever video called Turnips and Rabbits. Since I already played Mario Forever I wanted to see his videos of new games first and thus I was not really interested in MF videos and watched only a few of them.

Anyway, thx again for the info! :D

@raocow: To say it in your words: "Okay.... what am I not seeing here.... Aw man, are you serious?" ;p
Please create a news archive or something like that.

oh, right, the suggestion box forum would've been better. The discussion topic kinda changed without me realizing.

BTT:
I'm looking forward to seeing the ending of MariAri. I'm also at the final stage but I'm stuck somewhere else. That timed run at the beginning was very exciting. At my first run I didn't realize what Marissa would do and then the blue blocks activated the very second after I finished falling.

I like how this really slow-paced game has quite a few moments where you get to remember what adrenalin does.

Heh, tough call. If they both started them at the same time, and didn't stop until one was done, I'd put the bet on Kilga. He has the first part down (get 100 Star(t)s), and the imitation danmaku bounded field can be minimized, so all there is is having to do the first part of her battle with enough hits. That part is brutal still though; it took me over 4 hours to do that and accomplish to finally gain my Yukari 100 SS. MariAri's final stage, although I haven't tried it seriously yet, looks like it will need to be micro-memorized, which would take me longer (for comparison, it took me probably about 5-6 hours to micro-memorize 8-2)

I'm betting on Kilga, too (even though I don't know at all who s/he is and what that game is about^^). I played a part of MariAris final stage and mostly it didn't seem very hard to me (neither the part I played nor the part I looked ahead to), but there is a certain riddle where I can't find the solution no matter how hard I try. I looked through the level up and down and back and forth, scanning every cube again and again and I can't find a frickin' solution. >_<

raocow, don't you dare finishing this level easily! I warn you, I'll cry!

There was an English patch released for MariAri yesterday. It's linked to on the Touhou Wiki, but here is the direct link: http://www.mediafire.com/?zme5myznnmz

Thanks for the link! I immediately tried it out and it works. I'm going to replay this now in the hope to find some explanations that give me some clue on how to finish this game.

I won! I won! I finished the last level! :D

And I still can't believe that it's possible to make so many different mistakes in one single place. >_< If these levels had save points then I would've totally loved the final level for being really awesome and thought-out, but having to redo everything over and over again for a few dozen times took away some of the fun.

Maybe at some point I'll also finish 8-2 and 8-7. Yet maybe not. ^^

@raocow: The level is really interesting, why don't you try finishing it, too?

Okay, I beat stage 8-2 (while getting the stars) in, like, just 2 hours. I sorta cheated because the only thing I did was try to imitate the following video with exact precision (or, at least, imitating everything important for timing):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT1E9PEwj88

Several important points:
1. You need to get across the spikes first, and then allow Marisa across.
2. As soon as you let Marisa across, make sure you are able to get up on the ladder and turn yourself to the left before the next timestop. Otherwise, you will not have enough time to get across those last switchblocks. However, if you go too early, you will die from the brown breakable block at the top. The best timing is for the next timestop to start right after you turn yourself around on the first ladder. (Of course, this didn't really matter to me since it was only a matter of imitating that video exactly.)
3. And everything else is straightforward, I guess: just watch the video and you will know what to do.

Well, I guess that makes 8-2 the first stage in world 8 that I have beaten so far.

I suppose it IS pretty simple when you follow the exact steps of another video!

Yeah, and I tried doing it two more times, and I seem to be able to do it pretty much every time. But, if I don't do it that exact way, I would have no idea what to do. I mean, for example, when Alice goes up that ladder after the part with the switchblocks, it is slightly more dangerous to wait until after the timestop to turn Alice around since I have about half a second to turn her around before she falls, but if I turned her around before the timestop, it screws up my timing completely and I would have no idea what to do. I tried once going ahead anyways twice, and died by the brown block at the top one time, and was unable to reach the red switchblocks before Marisa stepped on the switch the other time.

Anyways, after I did 8-2, I went ahead and did 8-1, 8-3, and 8-4 all by myself. Surprisingly, I never messed up on the part where I had to get the red key in 8-4. But, I needed to do that twice since I messed up once after getting the red key (specifically, I wasn't paying attention and hit one of those "poison boxes" to the left of the map).

Now I'm SO jealous of you, Koakuma. But it's not about 8-2. it's about how you managed to get raocow to answer to your spoiler post within 2 hours while I tried my best not to spoil the final level and he just wouldn't take my baits. I was provocating by betting on Kilga above, I opened a separate thread asking for help (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=162) and afterwards I posted here in this thread that I did it and how awesome this level is.

Now come on, raocow, take the bait already and finish the final level. >-< Right now it's like you've been running 10 Kilometers through mountains and then stopping 10 meters before the finish line. Allow those two lesbians to have their reward already. ;)

I can't! Everytime I look at the game icon I'm all 'argh, no, it's too hard and not fun I don't want to spend my time on this'.

Every. Time.

Well, if it is too hard and you aren't having fun doing this, maybe you can just cheat on it and copy what someone else did, just to get this over with. That is what I did and it turned out that 8-2 was quite fun for me, even though I kept messing up on simple stuff, because I wasn't trying to figure out anything, and I knew that I was going to finish if I did everything perfectly. I guess that it is more fun when the "end is in sight" or something.

In fact, there is a video of 8-Boss right now, on Nico Nico Douga:

Wow, an answer within 5 minutes. Thx! XD

I can understand that feeling. That's why I won't play 8-2 or 8-7 even though I saw the solutions. ^^ But the final level is by far not as hard as 8-2 or 8-7. Imho no part of this level has insane difficulty. There are just tough riddles. Once you figured out what to do on each part you can recreate everything quite easily. The only annoying thing is that if you can't figure out a riddle you might die and have to replay it quite often.

I think it's not good to watch a solution for the final level because the riddles are so well though-out that you don't want to spoil them to yourself.

raocow do you need a trio of dancers dancing to a catchy upbeat song to complete this

because I'm sure there's enough people here for that

You need an account. There's some way or another to watch them without an account but honestly why not just save yourself the trouble every time and get yourself a tutorial to figure out the account creation moonspeak.

Or, just use common sense and figure out what says "username," "password," "e-mail," and things like that based on what websites usually do. That's what I did.

Japanese sites are kind of painful to read if you know katakana because they're full of stuff like 'pasuwaado' and 'meiru' and 'akaunto sentaa' and it just kind of makes me angry.
