Both of these consoles were great. Pick one.

I gotta go with what I grew up with. I've gone back with some emulator stuff. I felt like as a whole the games on the SNES were much more solid.
At the same time the sound fonts on the Genesis are pretty bad. Still some really good games on the Sega Genesis like The Adventures of Batman and Robin, Shinobi 3, and Sonic.

well, the sound provided by GEMS was pretty bad, anyway. the genesis chip can have some fantastic sound in the right hands, but a ton of devs used the GEMS driver which sounds like a box of farts during standard use.

Out of curiosity, who was the lone vote for the Genesis so far? I loved what little I got to play of that machine with Sonic, Streets of Rage, Gunstar Heroes, some sports games, and even EA stuff when they weren't a terrible company like Road Rash.

It's just that the SNES had so many freaking platformers, RPGs, and other classics that I had to go with it.

Yeah, you're asking a community that was built around a guy known for playing SMW romhacks; I'd think the poll would almost certainly swing in one particular direction. Which it has.

I really am more impressed by the games that were on the Genesis, but the SNES games were generally higher quality throughout and more enjoyable, usually. I didn't have a SNES growing up, and started the Genesis off with the Sega Channel and a few cartridges until my cousins bit the cords.

I wonder what things would've been like had I have done the N64 vs. PS1 then. I know that's the one time I can definitively say I'd take the non-Nintendo system.

Ah. My brain didn't comprehend that your childhood bias was Sega. Go figure!

yup. didn't know what a SNES was til I was 5. I didn't know of many racing games on there, though, so I didn't have any desire to get one.

early 90s arcade racers are still one of my favorite things lol

My very first games were on SNES. I didn't grow up with NES at all so SNES was my first console.

Sega on the other hand I had no experience with until I played my friend's Dreamcast much later.
