I agree with pholtos. The way Jay's doing it is technically legitimate, it is your vote but it seems wrong that he should have the decision of which opinion is better. The Mosts are a time for recognition and fun for the whole community, not Super Serious Titleholding, and personally I don't see a reason why Jay should have that kind of authority in the first place.

I second the above two posts.

There's seriously nothing wrong with ties. Especially since this is hardly a serious event. (I mean, have you seen some of these categories? ...Actually, you have, since you decided "Best Cheese" was a good thing, so there.)
If Mario has taught me anything, it's that most things rely on whether there's something good in a nearby box.
Note: If something in the above post is done incorrectly, tell the poster as softly as possible, please.

I listed it in the rules before, and I gave you two weeks to discuss about it here... Where were you guys then? At any rate, I'll put it back to the old system.

I was originally doing the gold/silver thing because I'm literally unable to participate in mosts at all without messing up notifications, and I thought that would be a nice way to settle ties. It was going to be two bars anyway, so I thought that could be understood as a tie of sorts. I was even willing to give landslides a chance...

However, I can't let my opinion stand over others. I'll edit back the current topics which say stuff.

Counterpoint: I think Jayoshi's idea of having gold and silver was a nice way to have a middle ground solution, and I liked the suggestion of effectively having two winners in situations where excessive bandwagoning for an obvious candidate would take away from other worthwhile candidates. I honestly don't think the gold/silver distinction and different userbars for them matters that much if we, as said above, are just having recognition & fun and not taking it too seriously. That's better than just having one winner, and I'm happy to see that each user gets a separate userbar.

What I do think is an issue was how late the new thread button got reopened. I feel that having it disabled for several days dissapated much of the momentum for the Mosts.

This is my fault, and I take full responsibility for it. I was on a ski trip at the time, and when I wasn't skiing (which was typically all day) I was either dead tired or spending time with family. However... honestly, I had made up my mind at least two or three days before the topic was posted, and I just needed to take one or two hours to write out the fine details. (which I most certainly had during that time, despite business)

I'm also sorry for that one post I made which was about enforcing disciplinary actions, that wasn't when I had fully made up my mind and it's a big misrepresentation of my intentions for running this event.

Could I make a recommendation for posting the winners in the threads? I'm sure you'll be pming the winners or something along those lines but you might consider quoting them in your posts in the threads too in case they haven't seen/subscribed to the thread they won a most for.

I haven't been pinging them, but I have been posting the winners' names in nearly every thread I've gone through. I've already gone through nearly a full page of topics, but I COULD change them to have quotes if necessary...

Do you need help in counting any of these? That way, you wouldn't have to do all the work on your own here.

It got the eight requisite votes though? Same with Cortex?
Forgive me for being super slow, but I'm actually still locking topics. I started from most replies at 11 PM, and unfortunately I forgot how to do copy-paste so I got the first three or four topics done in an hour, if not more. However, I've checked very carefully over each of the votes... even bringing in external support to correct any mistakes I've made.

Those topics you mentioned are amongst the lowest in reply number, so they'll get done last. Should be fine though, I think they have enough votes to qualify

Again sorry I'm dumb!

Check if the existing topics have correct vote count, particularly if that affects the outcome. That shouldn't happen... but I'm human, so I could be very wrong.

Looking at it there is still 35 threads unlocked with over 8 replies. This may take a while.

I'm looking so far through the last 5-10 you've done, and you've got the winning vote total counted up right for sure.

ok just make sure to check bumped threads

By the way perhaps you can PM the winners so they're aware? Not all users have ping enabled for when they're quoted.

I think that notifying about it on the final post that collects everything is probably enough.

Edit: By which I mean the one that will have the userbars and stuff.

This. Right now quoting isn't a main priority, especially because it's not so much that you won, but that you got the userbar.
