KirbyComment's crashes on snes9x 1.51. It also seems to use HDMA at the beginning???
LunarNeedle's is unplayable.

So far I really like lolyoshi's, Lazy's, morsel's, yogui's, Pyro's, and Cloaytonem2's. Sturg's started off amazing, but I had to use savestates for the second half.

I'll provide more brief reviews when I finish playing everything.

Fireball, stomp noise. Red seizure mode go!

I cannot play it in SNES9x 1.53 at all, it will not function, even if Lunar Magic attempts to "fix" it (by breaking it more, lol). Mandew says it works fine, but nothing I do has resolved it.

Just tested kirbycomment's level in bsnes-balaned (via RetroArch) and ZSNES, black screen on both.

I would also like to point out that the size of KirbyComment's IPS file is exceptionally high.

My level's not especially good but it's fairly unique in gimmick and I love how it turned out for now. Probably helps that there's a lot of Life Stuff behind why it turned out the way it did instead of being 'another block snake level but this one's actually snakes' or 'nonexistent' and I'm being perhaps a bit of a sentimental dummy about it. :p

Man to break ZSNES is a feat. Usually it'll take whatever you throw at it, which of course led to all the old issues with echo buffers and the like.

this is gonna be interesting since a lot of the people I recognize are people I haven't seen much SMW stuff from

and now the regret of procrastinating and not finishing my thing is settling in...

I have no idea if most of these would even work for me since all I have is this decade old version of snes9k my friend gave me a long time ago

Played my level for the first time since I've submitted it. Yes its still the exact perfect level of mediocrity, though from some comments of other levels I've heard, I may place higher than expected.

How's everyone feeling about their prospects vs their first thoughts now that its been a few days?

I think I could have done better than first expected except I made a critical flaw in my level by accidentally having an obstacle solution be something the player may not have yet encountered naturally, and at least one person got stuck there to my knowledge <_< I can't believe I didn't think of it, but I'll just have to pray the judges don't think too hard about it `~`

well i mean at least it wasn't sky high again

i like to pretend that i've matured as a level designer since then, but my magl3 submission makes me question my capacity to pretend as much...

Regarding how I think I'll do, at first I thought I would do pretty decently but now I think my levels fairly average. Which isn't really that much of a difference but oh well. Though I did just self judge my level (and by judge I mean I thought about each category in the judging rubric for about five seconds before making a rough estimate of my score) and I got 40/60. Assuming the average score is about 35-40 (which is a complete guess since I haven't played any other levels) I guess I'd be about the best of the average. Or maybe the average is 40-45 and I'm the worst of the average. It's also possible I completely misjudged my level. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing how I did.

So that was fun :'D I think three plus the one I tried out earlier is enough for me. I am somewhat concerned for the explodey patch, though.
Was the second one mine?

my level's super easy because i'm not someone who plays smw rom hacks so i'm not that good and it's short because i'm not used to level design but i think it has some nice moments. i put the most effort into the aesthetics and i feel ok saying that, hahah

i tried a few others' levels from alphabetical order and most of them so far have been above my skill level... it's a good thing i'm not the one lping them for the world.

Did you try my level? I don't know if the scrolling room was too hard b/c sometimes sprites appear in different places, but I tested it, and it's possible to complete if you get the time mushrooms.

If I were the judge of this contest, cloayt's level would probably be in the Top 10, but definitely not #1. The gimmick gets a little stale during the second half, and this isn't the first time I've seen an abstract sketch level. The kill room wasn't immediately registered in my mind as I thought I was supposed to do some glitch hop on top of the goomba into the door. Maybe I just missed something obvious. I did like the boss concept, though, but having the enemies normal and the boss a sketch seemed kinda inconsistent.

My personal #1 would have to be Le Neveu de Rameau's level. I won't spoil the level if you haven't played it yet, but it's amazing. Due to its aesthetics, I know raocow will love it.

Definitely an impressive aesthetic, but from what I've played I feel there have been unique gameplay ideas and setups done in many other levels I found more interesting [ispoiler](take ft029's for instance)[/ispoiler]. There were only few instances I feel where I think the design really took hold of its gimmick. Still a definite top 10 spot.

I was getting close to finishing my level when my power cord broke. Can I still submit it when the replacement arrives?

Best of luck everyone, I can barely remember what my level looked like since I made it like a week into the contest's opening.

Shooting for the top 45~
That makes raocow a victim of proprietary software.

SNN will give the same "1 month to make/test" logic again. But you can post it here as an unofficial entry, and I'll play it. :D

also thx sturg
