I know I keep joking about being done forever with SMW hacking, even though we all know I'll probably be sucked in again in the future for some random contest, but if I chose to actually finish hacking for good and the level Tyty and I submitted was the last show of my efforts, I would be incredibly happy with what we submitted. I feel like it's probably one of the best, if not the best level I've ever made in 10 years of SMW hacking. I hope the judges and raocow enjoy it immensely because we put and incredible amount of effort into it up until we were skirting that deadline. The BPS file was made with just over 30 minutes remaining because I couldn't stop making minor adjustments and Tyty had to yell at me that he was getting worried on time.
What a fun experience. Some days I miss doing this more often, but I don't have the time to undertake a large hacking project any more.

Oh man, I can't wait for this LP. Is there any sort of estimated time for this to be finished?

Re: Make A Good Level Contest (SMW) 3 - Discussion
The judges have been given a timeline of one month to complete their judging, but if all goes well, that could be even sooner. Once that is done, the results will be sent over to raocow and he can start the LP whenever.

Jesus, I hope everything goes well when the judges and rao play my level. A majority of the time spent on my level was ASM coding and debugging, and I'm still worried about there being a bug I might've missed.
My hope extends to all others who did their own ASM for their levels (I haven't played any other levels yet, but I assume there's at least one).

Well, at least I know that vaguery isn't about my level. Predicting a 30~40 for my level, an incredibly middling affair. Tried to place it properly to be a nice little palate cleanser. I would play the other levels to try and guess my actual place, but I like seeing them all done in order

I've only given one level a spin and I think I might try out a couple others just to give myself a teensy bit of expectation when the LP starts. Just so I can go "oh man it's that one" every now and then.
I also highly expect my level was not the happiness one, haha. I didn't go with any jokes this time :(

To contrast the really good one from earlier, I just played two exceedingly awful ones - and surprisingly, they were awful for completely different reasons.

I just found out there was an error in my level like Morsel pointed out. Can I fix it and post a new version so raocow can play the fixed version?
Re: Make A Good Level Contest (SMW) 3 - Discussion
We're probably not allowed to submit updates after the deadline unless the level is somehow unbeatable due to a glitch. Maybe S.N.N. will permit it, though.Lespna01 wrote:I just found out there was an error in my level like Morsel pointed out. Can I fix it and post a new version so raocow can play the fixed version?
Re: Make A Good Level Contest (SMW) 3 - Discussion
Given that raocow's LP is what reveals the results, we really can't accept any updates at this point. Otherwise, the results won't accurately reflect what the judges have played.

Oh, so does he play the entries before the results are released? It was just an error in the math that might make it confusing for the password block part, but i tested it, and it's possible to finish.S.N.N. wrote:Given that raocow's LP is what reveals the results, we really can't accept any updates at this point. I wonder if that's the same 7TC7 that uploaded this video.Willhart wrote:Just for anyone interested, here is the list of people who are in the contest.
If so, I've known about 7TC7 for over 7 years now. That's kinda crazy.

As much as I want to look at/play others' levels, I kinda be blind to everything, so I'm more surprised when my levels comes up.TaviTurnip wrote:I've only given one level a spin and I think I might try out a couple others just to give myself a teensy bit of expectation when the LP starts. I've found that I usually enjoy LPs more when I've already played the game, at least to an extent. Because Ivealready formed an opinion on the game from experience, its more satisfying to see someone else experience and respond to it and compare their opinions and reactions to mine.SAJewers wrote:As much as I want to look at/play others' levels, I kinda be blind to everything, so I'm more surprised when my levels comes up.TaviTurnip wrote:I've only given one level a spin and I think I might try out a couple others just to give myself a teensy bit of expectation when the LP starts. I agree with both of you. I usually want to be blind to everything, but like with MaGL X2 being the massive size it was, knowing about 12 peoples' levels made it fun to recognize that small percentage when it came up. I figure that knowing half a dozen levels this time around will be about the same amount of fun for me, otherwise being blind to the rest is the best for me.Sasquatch wrote:I've found that I usually enjoy LPs more when I've already played the game, at least to an extent. I played JUMP before raocow played it, and I couldn't wait before watching each episode. But I'm kind of indifferent toward other lets plays now and might miss an episode every once in a while. Thus, I am playing all of the entries.
I can already imagine angrycow on almost all of the levels I've played so far (including my own and some other very hard ones), but I might be underestimating him.

Regardless whether my level places high or low, I just hope people enjoy experiencing it.
I should go play everything else and try to find out which one made SNN happy, though! See how my level fares in comparison!

Re: Make A Good Level Contest (SMW) 3 - Discussion
I'm really concerned my level might be one of those horrifyingly abysmal levels, because I could easily see it being bland and mediocre to the point of worthlessness. But then again, that could be the exact reason it places, like, in the exact center of the contest. I certainly wouldn't know!
I'd love to play through a good number of the levels, but I've... actually never really played SMW before? Which probably explains stuff about my level. And considering these are apparently majority difficult levels for high-skilled Mariosmen, I'm not sure how much success, or fun, or fulfillment, of any sort, I'd get out of it.

Re: Make A Good Level Contest (SMW) 3 - Discussion
I have tried out three levels. One was fun, one started out trivial and got really hard and stuff, and one exploded the ROM it was patched onto immediately and was unusable. So that was fun :'D I think three plus the one I tried out earlier is enough for me. I am somewhat concerned for the explodey patch, though.

Don't worry everybody, I would win the "make a mediocre level" contest :3
EDIT: As much as I would love playing all the levels before the LP, I just want to be like "maybe I am not as awful as I thought"
