This is long overdue. It's time for the Talkhaus's third ever Make a Good Level Contest, or MaGL 3 for short, hosted by myself and Willhart. We will be basing this off of how the first MaGL operated, in that this will be an anything-goes Super Mario World level design contest. No boxes with sprites/blocks, no gimmicks, simply a contest to make the most fun level that you can.

RULES:
-You may use any resources you wish - custom sprites, blocks, music, etc. - or you can use nothing more than Lunar Magic. It's up to you.
-Submit an IPS/BPS file and not a ROM.
-You may work either alone or with a partner.
-You can edit the overworld, but it will not be judged. Only the content from when you enter the level to when you end the level will be judged.
-Likewise, you can edit the title screen, but it won't be judged.
-Your level should be beatable - that is, it should have a goal of some sort (key, ? sphere, goal tape, boss).
-The deadline for this contest will be OCTOBER 1ST, 2016.

USEFUL LINKS:
Lunar Magic - the primary level editor for SMW (NECESSARY)
Floating IPS - creates IPS/BPS patches by using a clean ROM and a patched ROM (NECESSARY)
AddmusicK - allows you to insert custom music (OPTIONAL)
GPS or BlockTool Super Deluxe - allows you to insert custom blocks (OPTIONAL)
SpriteTool - allows you to insert custom sprites (OPTIONAL)
Effect Tool - allows you to insert neato effects such as gradients, parallax, and more (OPTIONAL)

There are other tools in SMWC's "Tools" section you can use, but these are the most common ones, so they have been put here for easy pickings.

JUDGING RUBRIC:
Fun: 30 - The bulk of your score comes from this. Is the level well-designed? Is it fun to play? Is your block/sprite placement reasonable? Is it too long, too short, or just right? Many factors will be judged here, but they will be thoroughly explained in the judging comments.
Difficulty: 5 - Is the level consistent with its difficulty? Does it start easy and get harder? Does the curve jump all over the place?
Creativity: 10 - Have you done something fresh with your level? Did you attempt to bring in some unique gameplay ideas, either modified or vanilla?
Aesthetics: 10 - Does it look nice? Does it sound nice? This encompasses both graphics and music, 5 points for each.
Functionality: 5 - Does the level work/play properly? Are there glitches everywhere, or is it a smooth, immersive ride from start to finish? Should be an easy 5 if you playtest your level.

JUDGES:
The judges will remain anonymous until the contest is over. There are four of them.

RESULTS:
As per the other major Talkhaus contests, raocow has agreed to play the entries, so your results will be shown in his videos.

Good luck!

So I have made a thing.

It's called YELLOWGLASS ATHLETIC and it's a short athletic speedrunny eater block race vanilla-minus-music thing that was inspired by me realizing you could wall triangle run up tile 1EB.

here's my little rompyromp.

although it's a little on the short side (not quite long enough to warrant a midpoint in my opinion), I certainly hope everyone enjoys playing it.

just for funzies, here's a little something I did purely for my amusement that while present, didn't go into the level per se:

Well, here's my shameless raocow appeal level.

Special thanks to Mandew for helping me with... more or less everything about these crazy @$$ programs.

Have fun and I hope I don't lose.

This level was obviously not made by me as there aren't any throw blocks in it.

I would like to blame FrozenQuills (see the video posted in the other thread) for the gimmick of this level and thank HertzDevil for the port of "Gaze Up at the Darkness" from Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.

Please credit me as rUdEbOi4000.

So this may or may not have happened. I know it's bad but I hope it's at least not sinfully so

Edit: Also I would like to be credited as Thespus because this is an old internet handle I don't really use anymore

For my first foray into Lunar Magic, I've made a more-or-less vanilla level, except for a handful of assets. And it only has one exit. But! I'll tell you it's fairly varied, and not too trivial! It's also, as a bonus, physically beatable. I hope I win! Or at least, avoid stinky sewers!

So the last time I made a Mario level was for TLS4's make a bad level contest when the talkhaus first opened. That means this vanilla flavored fortress level is technically my first real playable Mario! I hope it is better than the bad level contest level I made.

Coin Conundrum

hey all! i'm coming from smwcentral for your level design contest. I've been wanting an excuse to try to make something non-vanilla, and figured this would be a good time to try!
Good luck to all participants, and may the best "magl" win!

I'm not a member of the talking house anymore but I participed in the two "ma gueule" (and x1) so might as well enter this one too.

This level is made in lunar magic.
It contains lunar and magic.
I thought the idea was good. The end result maybe not so much but oh well. Have fun.
