Had horrible trouble sleeping last night, and somewhere in the flashes of things I guess could be called dreams, I got yet another rating in my sleep! This time I got 68th place. I'm sure if I was indignant because that's 30+ places worse than prediction or because someone else didn't do slightly better than me.

Well, at least you weren't 69th.

I feel like my level wasn't as good as last year, but who knows. It might be better than I expected. Happened last year too.

Optimistically: 50 - 100th
Realistically: around 130ish
"Competition was a lot better than expected": below 150

I can't see top 50 through. I'd feel it'd be out of place there, and the YT comments will get pretty nasty (...well, nastier).

Most likely gonna be in "World 2" or whatever.. Not the worst of the worst but in the bad ones...

My level isn't "bad" but it's short and not very challenging. very basic... Got some custom graphics in there but it's mostly vanilla. The level name I got indirectly implied a certain layout so that was an impairment and it was my first level. My hopes aren't high.

But I wanted to participate because FUN! Plus, I learned the engine a bit so I might be better equipped in the future.

I hope we get this for lots of bosses :3 I'm hoping people found all kinds of neat stuff for bosses. The potential is there. One of the coolest bosses ever for SMBx for me was Pebbles Peaks and I'm kind of hoping someone decided to do something very similar to that. It was really outside the box and I'm sure at least a few people went way outside the box for their bosses.

I've got no idea whatsoever about placement for MAFAB. I tried to put together something fun and quick, but from the posts it sounds like folks are really confident in what they made, which is great! I think if I get around middle-ish place, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I think I'll be between 199 and 100. I feel like I didn't spend enough time on my level, so I'd be surprised if it was below 100.

I'll have to take 239th or 238th to essentially tie my placement from last year. Considering my level this year is actually a complete one instead of an incomplete level with a failed gimmick I think I'll achieve that fairly easily. My goal though is to at least take 120th place which is probably too optimistic. (My level last year took 120th place out of 134 submitted entries.)

What makes the most sense is that no matter who wins, we're all losers in the end.

... Unless some game company looking for upstart level designers catches a hold of this and decides to contact some of their favorites. That would really change things.

I dunno, last year I would have suggested middle of the road, but I ended up getting 13th. I'm more proud of my level this year, but I bet the competition is going to be all that much tougher as well, so it could be anywhere.

I got 23rd out of 134 entries in the first maglx so hopefully I should at least get uh, top 50? Maybe? Math?
I mean I feel like I put a lot more work into my level this time but I'm also not good at being optimistic, so really I'm hoping for top half.

... but seriously, if anything my MAGL level would suffer from lame level design, since I focused more on building a storyline (and I'm a 1st time level maker). but since most scoring relies on fun factor, I'm hoping the judges get enough laughs to increase my scoring

Though I wasn't trying to pander to the judges, after a lot of thought about the first MaGL X I'm convinced that a good story is key to a good level experience, and I attempted pretty hard to put this foot forward first. Worth clarifying that "good story" can mean as little as one or even no lines of dialogue (see: Shaken, Not Stirred!) so long as the player feels engaged in the level's context instead of it just being a level. I definitely think that anyone who attempted to make their level fun or funny will be well received, though where the fine line of perfection is at is too hard to guess.

Every day I'm more and more convinced I won't at all reach top 100, that said :B
