Nice! Thanks. Will it be accessed by beating world 9 or some other silly means?WestonSmith wrote:I actually went ahead and gave you 0-1, the Minus World. Go crazy in there.

Re: Level Signup Sheet
I'm thinking I'll hide it in the game myself, and put a hint in at the end of World 9 as to its whereabouts. If we do decide to add a sample of a potential SDS2, Minus World would be the gateway to that.aterraformer wrote:Nice! Thanks. Or something of that sort. Anyways, you have full reign on that baby. I'd say only a few rules may still apply to 0-1:
1) Spinjump, reserve powerups, and shell picking upping will all be disabled.
2) No powerups outside of Fire Flowers
3) Please avoid slopes
Other than that, I'd say its pretty wide open (it is a "glitch" after all).

QUESTION!
Are Poison Mushrooms going to exist in World 9, or no? If they are, they should probably be 'introduced' in 9-1.

Sure, why not. I'll include some Poison Shrooms in 9-1.

Re: Level Signup Sheet
If we're introducing poison mushrooms in World 9, and also seeing as how there's unlikely to ever be a SDS: The Lost Levels, could we have other Lost Levels enemies & hazards in World 9?
To clarify, the enemies & hazards introduced in the Lost Levels were:

- Bloopers in the air
- Fake Bowser (appears before the end of the level and gives no reward for defeating him)
- Goombas, Koopa Troopas & Lakitus underwater
- Poison Mushrooms
- Upside-down pipes with upside-down piranha plants in them (would require custom graphics)
- Wind (apparently possible with LunaDLL but I'm wary of including this)

Re: Level Signup Sheet
Yes to everything. Unless everyone suddenly wants to make a nearly identical sequel but with harder levels, lets just cram the best bits of Lost Levels into World 9 and call it a day. That way, any potential sequel would be based on the far more awesome SMB2.
Also, I have no idea of sky bloopers are possibly in SMBX. I think they are hard-coded only to work in water, and the no gravity flag doesn't work on them (I think).

Re: Level Signup Sheet
The only way to get sky bloopers to work is cumbersome but here it is:WestonSmith wrote:Also, I have no idea of sky bloopers are possibly in SMBX. I think they are hard-coded only to work in water, and the no gravity flag doesn't work on them (I think).
1) Place a 1x1 box of water on a layer.
2) Set up an event to hide that layer.
3) Place a blooper inside the 1x1 box, tie it to the layer and set its death to trigger the event.
The blooper can then move inside its own little invisible water box that disappears when it does. To make them function like Lost Levels sky bloopers you'd still need to set jumphurt=1 so the player can kill them by jumping on them.
I say it's cumbersome because you'd need a separate layer and event for each sky blooper. Still, for anyone wanting to include them, that's how.

My world 9 level actually uses bloopers as though they were essentially munchers already...
Oh well! No reason we can't have both types! :)

Is it okay to fire things other than Bullet Bills in World 9?

Re: Level Signup Sheet
For various reasons and after much deliberation, I'm afraid I've got a bit of bad news. I'm going to be withdrawing from this project. My schedule's been unusually cramped lately and I haven't really had all that much time to work on my level as a result, so I think it'd be for the best if someone else takes 9-6.
I hate doing this so late in the project, but I think it'd be better to do it now than be responsible for dragging this out past the already extended deadline. :(

Re: Level Signup Sheet
I want 9-6. Is there a theme for that level? I was thinking athletic / treetops / 1-3 tileset

Re: Level Signup Sheet
Kil can have it.
The theme may either be desert (the flying fish tileset) or mushroom tops (essentially the tree tops, but the tops cannot be passed through).

Re: Level Signup Sheet
Well, March 9th has come and gone. So where are we at?
1) I've had 18 levels PMed to me. If you have not sent me a PM yet with your level, please do so. I know many folks posted their level in the testing thread, so I'll be combing through there this week for additional levels.
2) A number of folks have shown no progress. I'll be contacting them. If no contact is returned by the end of the week, we'll likely begin giving levels away again.
3) Some folks have made contact and will be late with their levels. No worries there folks.
4) I've been horribly sick for a week. On top of that, I'm busy with work and school etc. With an exam coming up in April, time will be tight. I would like to have something to show you folks before March is over, but the final product will likely wait until April now.
So what's left to do?
1) Collect missing levels
2) Finish level intros
3) Link everything together
4) Testing
5) Author room
6) Hard Mode
Roughly in that order.

I can take care of the Author room if you don't see a problem with that.

Re: Level Signup Sheet
Sorry mate, forgot to download the level apparently. My bad.
Also, if you'd like to do the author room Clem, that'd be neat. I'll send you the hub later on once I'm finished updating my bits and peaces. I'll PM you more about it later.
