OK, so I took all the levels currently in the queue with more approvals than rejects (basically, all but 8 levels with at least 1 approval), and tried to put together a world list based on those:

Just to clarify, my intent for The Post Production Void was not only for it to be the Auto Start Level, but also be inaccessible after completion like Destiny Island, making it more of a World Zero/introductory level. As such, I don't think it should count toward World 1's total levels.

so can we... can we like reserve slots ? or is it best to, like, just do levels normally and let it flow in naturally?

a2xt1 had uneven level numbers per world but there is something attractive about having a straight 'nine levels + one boss' all the way through...

I'm actually thinking making it 8 levels for the first 4, 10 levels for the next 4, then 9 for the postgame.

As for reserving levels, I'd rather just people make them as they come in. I'd rather cut the queue down first though, then see again.

I'm not even sure that's happening, as there's been talk from others that level be re-tooled for a later world, and any prologue be told in the tutorial.

that's still up for people to debate though; I'd rather make a decision on that.

Fun fact: we currently (as of this post) have more rejected levels than we do approved levels (25 to 22).

I do like the idea of having a consistent number of levels between worlds, could we get 9 or 10 throughout?

World 6: Planet Posidonia - Water levels aren't overly common, mostly because they're hard to make work and can be tedious in a row. Having said that, I'm down for a water planet that's not really a water planet. I'd suggest pulling from MAGLX and having this be the home of Dracula's Castle. Make this a sort of cross up between water levels and creepy/haunted level. (SIDE NOTE: Sea Side Slumber would probably fit better in World 1, and wouldn't be out of place in an Irish themed world).

World 7: Planet Cannabis - Really, any "trippy" plant name would work, I just went for the obvious one. I'm not sure how a WTF world works, so I can't comment anything past the name.

World 8: Planet Redwood - The tallest trees seem fitting for the Sky Planet. It'd be cool to pull a reverse SMB3, and have the player start in the clouds before finding a tower to work their way down (Descent of Nine, possibly?). The ground planet could be the more traditional end game planet, with the dark gloomy stuff.


Just some thoughts. Still way too early to set anything in stone.

Well, WestonSmith, if you're going to repost that, then I'm going to repost my other suggestion:

All the worlds are the same or similar, but set in different timezones.

So, take the Sahara for example. Present day it's a desert, but go back far enough and it's a savannah. Unsure if it ever went through an ice age, but why not?

So for the Tutorial's integration into the plot, I had a few ideas in a Skype chat.
[2:54:39 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: ok, so what essentially happens is Sheath is wandering the emptiness of the destroyed universe and Serac appears
[2:55:04 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: she tries to get Sheath to pay attention and save the universe
[2:55:38 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: but Sheath's attention span is incredibly short so she ends up leaving and Serac just pushes the switch on
[2:56:24 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: Demo then comes back into the universe, asking what happened
[2:56:35 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: confused, naturally
[2:57:25 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: Mishi comes back into the universe and is PISSED, but basically tells her that this is kind of what a lack of a universe looks like
[2:57:36 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: but it looks a lot clearer than it DID
[2:58:35 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: Demo gets to the switch, talks with Mishi for a few lines, and they restore the universe another little bit
[2:58:59 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: Kood comes back into existence, and so does Science
[3:00:02 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: Kood is going mad with the possibilities of documenting this plot and Science yells at him to "FOCUS. YOU RIDICULOUS. KOOPA."
[3:00:23 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: you play through Kood's segment and restore raocow
[3:01:21 PM] what's the frequency, kenneth: raocow doesn't need any instructions, he's destroyed the universe enough times

Could work. At least one of the suggested storylines of the entire game basically covers this over the course of the game, though, so they probably wouldn't work together. Depends which direction we take the story really.

Restating what I said in the skype group here -

I'm really not sure if world 1 should have two auto levels (shoe zone 3 and day in the life of raocow). We should probably move shoe zone 3 back to weird world.

Also I'm not sure why you put the two ghost house levels in the weird world (Night Light Fright and Sheath mystery house blah). Night Light Fright should probably be moved to earliergame, probably cave world. And last I heard Mikkofier wanted Sheath and the Mysterious House removed because he thought it was crap.

Shoe Zone 3 is in W1 because I need a spot for Dark Prince. Light Night Fright is in W6 because I thought it was too hard for an earlier world.
