I made a new save to make sure. Exiting World 3 puts you in World 4's hub. and theres no switch to open World 4, the 4th button activates world 5

OK, yeah I see. the OW needs to be modified slightly. I think from World 3 on, the warps are one off. Can you fix that sturg, or do you want me to fix that?Mabel wrote:I made a new save to make sure. Re: A2MBXT beta testing
I think it should be available from the start of the game considering that you can even lose a lot of lives on the early game levels and having a life famine just isn't really conducive to people playing fully through the game. Besides - the balance of it comes from the fact that you can't access it once you enter a world.Sturg wrote:-The Couch Gag room should probably be locked for awhile until you reach a certain point since it has the life farm area.
Also Sturg - how do you feel about the whole giving the relay level its own micro-world thing mentioned in the discussion thread? (in case you didn't see it)
The first thing I would do with infinite power would be to make myself a cave where I could look at my shadow forever.

I made a game called Utter Confusion! Play it! :D
It's a lot of fun and has been incredibly popular at every indie game dev party I've brought it to.

Re: A2MBXT beta testing
Bear in mind that This Sounds Accurate is available in World 1 and, once the player finds the salad bar, is an easy and speedy option for life-farming early in the game. Which in my eyes makes a life-farm in the HUB frankly unnecessary. But, if we're going to put one in the HUB regardless, it might as well be available from the beginning (since it's not giving the player anything they don't already have via This Sounds Accurate).

Re: A2MBXT beta testing
This Sounds Accurate is still great for getting lives in World 1 too, and making an easily accessible life farm on the hub also both accounts for players who don't find that secret and reminds them to stock up on lives before going to the next world.
Honestly I know the main reason I kept running out of lives is because I never thought of going back and farming before going into the next world.

Plus. a life farm in the HUB is a lot easier to get to and less tedious than going back to world 1 just for the farm in that level.docopoper wrote:This Sounds Accurate is still great for getting lives in World 1 too, and making an easily accessible life farm on the hub also both accounts for players who don't find that secret and reminds them to stock up on lives before going to the next world.

Also, I just realized this morning that I could use LunaDLL to change enemies in the Final Level's Demo/Iris Room, instead of SMBX events. This means, most of the enemies can now be killable, and removed the need for the sign. Unfortunately, due to a bug, the Hammer Bros had to be replaced with Spinies (using WtH's Pokey graphic).
See if I didn't screw anything up here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/wf6nw ... _Update.7z

Re: A2MBXT beta testing
The pillars with the dung on them have invisible koopas you can be hurt by and kill.
The replacement for the dry bones for Iris really looks like you can stand on it to me. I mean why can you stand on the cactus pokey beside it but not this friendly looking thing with a flat head?
Also you still didn't change my text in the hub. xD And in regards to that I noticed that since you are using pressing up to disable the player's controls you are accidentally able to trigger talking to my avatar again if you just enter the code in front of it.

The Dry Bones replacement is taken straight from WtH. Don't blame me.

Schtolteheim, the fact that you are getting Link, Peach, and star graphics (instead of Sheath, Kood, and leek graphics) suggests something is seriously wrong with your installation. Did it work before you installed the latest update?
EDIT:
EDIT:
I agree with this. It's most noticeable in Ghosts in Space.Sturg wrote:-I still kind of think that the water swimming effect is still a tad too loud.

You need to install the custom devkit. The text next to the mushroom on the top left corner should have "A Second Mario Bros. XThing" written on it.

In world 5 you can life farm on Grand Trunk Arena. There is a part where you can throw a shell that bounces back and forth in front of a cannon that shoots Bullet Bills.

Re: A2MBXT beta testing
I started up another video series of A2MBXT Episode 1 Beta Testing.
#1: Tutorial, Remakes are so Cliche, Giant Egg, Castle of No Significance, A World One Level
Sorry I really screwed up the resolution when I was editing. It's a lot smaller than it should be. I mean it's still fine and watchable and everything, I just... yeah. The resolution will be more normal by the next video I promise.
I didn't find anything to complain about in all those levels either. I mostly spent my time commentating on how hilarious and perfect everything is.
It's also still uploading so we might have to wait a bit before it's actually available.
EDIT: Actually my internet is being great again so it might be a while. Gah freaking
(This isn't worth putting in its own thread right?)

Re: A2MBXT beta testing
I never tested that since I put the contents of the update directly in the corresponding folder after unzipping Episode 1.Voltgloss wrote:Schtolteheim, the fact that you are getting Link, Peach, and star graphics (instead of Sheath, Kood, and leek graphics) suggests something is seriously wrong with your installation. Yeah, apparently a matter of the base game. I didn't get it from here but instead one year ago with that package of Super Talking Time Bros 1+2. Ever since, I have just added all other SMBX episodes in the worlds folder.
Anyway, thanks for your help :)

The video is 40% done uploading. It's 27 minutes long. Yep.
Anyways, Willhart notified me that it might be worth pointing out all of the grammatical errors after all, so I shall. In the below spoiler I've included ALL the text in the entire cutscene immediately after the tutorial, and I've included my grammatical fixes in red, and notes in blue. I also feel like if we're going to capitalize Super Leeks everywhere, then Leeks should also be capitalized, but I dunno. It's a super overly-picky thing anyways. I'm also assuming that we made a specific point to never ever capitalize raocow's name ever, which is pretty awesome.

My corrections to your corrects are in purple. If I don't correct your corrections then your corrections are correct. If I correct your corrections then your corrections are incorrect. I hope you now know what to expect. How's that for a Dr. Seuss introduction?

Ah, I wasn't aware of what the line above the comma meant. As for "Sheath was there, too." vs "Sheath was there too." I looked it up. According to the Chicago Manual of Style, "use commas with too only when you want to emphasize an abrupt change of thought". Therefore it's a stylistic choice on whether we want to emphasize Sheath's appearance or not. If the joke is that Sheath is tacked on to the game then the sentence should have no comma. If there is no joke then the sentence should have the comma.
Re: A2MBXT beta testing
About 6 hours later the 27-minute video is 51% done uploading. Just fantastic! I'll leave my computer on overnight for it to finish if I need to. Sorry, if I had known it was gonna take this long I wouldn't have made the post so early.

Re: A2MBXT beta testing
Here's the quick-fix to the OW that fixes the warps and some other things:
-Move CONS for the time being to World 2 (probably be changed later)
-Moved some paths and such in Worlds 1 and 5
-edit oh yeah I flipped
TAKE NOTE: IF YOU REPLACE THIS WITH THE CURRENT WLD FILE, YOUR CURRENT SAVE FILES WILL PROBABLY BECOME CORRUPTED!!
