Oh, I've been forgetting to do this:

In my most recent A2XT level, I made a minor re-sprite of Sheath where she's using the Sacred Turtle Dove as a shield, and I'd like it to be added to the base game (or at least polished by someone else, then added to the base game) so that Sheath can have a proper shield instead of just having projectiles randomly bounce off of her.

That wouldn't make sense for Episode 1.

Rednaxela made a shielded Sheath for the MAGLX2 relay level, she's just holding what looks like a pane of glass.

That could work without having to worry about continuity.

Honestly, I don't like the look of that either.

I'd rather we re-drew Sheath's sprites so she attacks and defends with an energy blast, sorta like how Sheath's down attack is. Have it blue when it won't defend you, and separate colour when it can. Plus, we can fix the fact her hair tube is supposed to be a different colour from her shirt.

Also, I've just confirmed (thanks to the PGE Playable Character Sprite Character) that Kood's hitbox is 10 pixels larger than his sprites when powered up. We should fix the sprite sheets for kood too.

I posted a non-animated sprite at the proper resolution a while back. Not sure if I never animated that sprite or I just forgot to transfer it from my old computer... though it's likely I tried once before and gave up because I just spent over an hour trying to animate those tiny gears. Got one gear looking half-decent, couldn't figure out how to handle the other one. I even passed it on to Chaoxys, he couldn't make it work either.

I'm done fiddling with this thing, but if anyone else wants to take a shot at fixing it, go ahead. I'd be happy to make a cinematX sheet with other poses and expressions but the animated idle is just beyond my ability :?

And looking back at that old post, I still have to make the 2x sprites for the other uncles...

Oh yeah, I forgot you merged the EXEs. It could still work if we have it in the episode's folder, though, but if you're going with something else entirely, I'm just okay as long as she has a visible shield.

Same with her eyes and her gloves.

I should have it on my computer. Wait a sec.

Edit: Here. The sprite is quite large due to the animated sparkling.

Can anybody tell me why every time I delete everything and reinstall from scratch, block-624 keeps ending up transparent? It's really annoying me.

I have a request for anyone who has good artistic skill:

In my level, The Post Production Void, I have close-ups of Sheath for a brief cut-scene, but my artistic skill is...less than sub-par. If anyone is willing to make those sprites look better for me, that would be greatly appreciated. The sprites in question are npc-155, npc-156, and npc-157.

tell me exactly what you need (like show me what you got) and I'll draw it for you, you can then make a sprite from it.

edit: I don't want to download the full level because, you know, spoilers.

Thanks, but I can't help but think that the images themselves will be spoilers enough. Maybe that's just because I know what they're for, though.
I also wanted to avoid the muddy look of ATXS (I'm on page 30 of season 1), but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Anyway, here are the sprites (e: GAH, THEY DE-SYNCED Okay, I think I got it working now). Note that Sheath is in front of one of the computer monitors shown in Episode 1:
Sheath is surprised (note that she has the Sacred Turtle Dove).

Sheath is sad (spoilers?).

Sheath wipes away a tear.

Also, keep in mind that Sheath is supposed to be the same size in all the sprites, as they switch out when the player advances the text boxes.

Just so you know, the linework is a lot more clean and controlled in rao's more recent work. Take this page from Aricelle, for example:

It should also be noted that Episode 1 used art of a similar style for one cutscene (those were done by bkamakaze, not raocow).

alright, I can work with that.

I don't know what's the deadline though so if in a couple of days someone can get it done faster then go ahead and do it, hah

but if when I get the chance to draw this nobody stepped up, I'll make you something.

Just a note that we may not even use that level, since there was talk of another idea that uses the tutorial.

well, like, if there is work done in the levle, even if it's not used as a tutorial maybe it can be turned into a level level !

Where was this talk at? I'm sure we can work out some kind of compromise that uses the tutorial, but still lets my level be first.
raocow wrote:well, like, if there is work done in the levle [sic], even if it's not used as a tutorial maybe it can be turned into a level level !
Unfortunately, I made my level too plot-focused for that to be easily doable. My reasoning was that if I made a heavily plot-focused level, it would be more likely to get attention (and, by extension, reviews) than a level that could easily be moved to Episode 3 in case of a surplus. It looks like that might backfire on me, though.

Oh. I was hoping it was in a thread somewhere so I could see everyone's ideas and try to come up with a solution that would still let my level be first. If there's a record of this discussion, could you link me to it?

Just posted a lengthy response in the story/cutscene thread. We can see about adding you to the skype group if you're interested, assuming that hasn't been done already while I was typing up said post.

Curious how people would feel about this being an alt costume for raocow/if theres any issues with it.

Tried to stay close to the Roo design, while bringing it closer to the games style.
