Besides, like I said, the new sprites being proposed for Iris are more greeny - for want of a better word - than the existing ones. They're a darker and more natural shade than the earlier ones, and that's the sort of shading that gets used in the background. So while it may not be a problem now it could become one with the new sprites.

People have made the levels for this game using the default devkit graphics, including Demo and Iris. It's not a problem. It's been designed to counter this by the level makers.

If we were to change the hues in any of the backgrounds, it would surely break the mood of the forest, underwater, anything, in a lot of levels. The sky and night colors are way different hue from the player characters.

New sprites have been used pretty well in my opinion and we have changed the hues of that one instance. No other problems have been arisen.

I can make the sprite sheet for the pumpkin Iris, but someone should PM Darkychao to fix the cutscenes, and double check that there is nothing wrong with using these replacements.

Here is the new pumpkin Iris. I added a little more shading to the top of the head, so that she would stand out more.

edit: there seems to be an eye-outline on the back of the pumpkin there,

Swapped all the back-facing heads out with that. Also used it to touch up the side-facing frames.

You should do something similar with Hammer Demo. Also, maybe change the hammer graphic.

Here are the Fixed Iris graphics for all of the EOW, SOW and INTRO levels. The gredits still use the old version of the sprite and the...
...Cutscene is a reference to original ASMBXT, so it does not need changing.
The rar contains only the Iris graphics.
Edit: reupload, fixed Eow 8 and Eow 4.

Here is the old barrel head with and without an eye.
npc-171 is the hammer graphic that is used by both Iris and Demo. It should work as a cucumber and as a pumpkin seed, unless the barrel graphic is changed into something else.

Replacing the barrel will take longer since it has proper eye movements on the spritesheet.

Not per se. I levelled a similar accusation against a level for having sprites that were similar to the background. At the moment, it's not so bad, but as I can't access internet at home, I can't do anything to check that the new sprites are distinct enough.

We've just got to be careful, that's all. We've got NPC sprites that use up only 20% of the available sheet space i.e. the pink beets, and sprites redesigned without any consideration for the background. It wouldn't surprise me if it did happen at some point.

As I said earlier, the collectables can have more generous hitbox, since the can't be stand on and don't hurt the player. It does not affect the gameplay, and the black outline on them makes them stand out against most backgrounds.

Yeah, I know, but I was providing it as an example of a graphic change that was done without taking into account the sort of things you should usually take: i.e. make your power-ups as large as possible, make sure they don't have similar colours to the background, make them bright etc.

At least it's bright enough to stand out.

From what I understand, it's supposed to be a pumpkin seed for Iris, and a Cucumber for Demo. It's a little awkward, though, since it only has one graphic.

It can be any kind of vegetable or root that can be stored in a barrel. Also maybe a shard of wood/pumpkin might work better than the current sprite.

Edit: or it could be something Halloween themed like a tiny ghost. It would be fun to have the siblings throwing something cute as weapons.
