Re: Updates/Announcements
Unless we change any more graphics, the only things left on the graphics side is a door and the SMB2 Mushroom.
For music, we just need two boss songs for level music, unless someone can come up with an overworld music theme we missed.
Kashkabald, Sturgyman, Darkychao/Demolition: can you guys please give updates on your stuff?
Also, need your town JayScribble.

Overworld Progress:
1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 are done.
Just started 7.
Need to do 5, 8, and 9 with 5 being the hardest.

I'll lengthen it myself in a better way since I have the source files. How long do you want it?

Maybe grab the titlescreen and see how long it goes before the land runs out?Doctor Shemp wrote:I'll lengthen it myself in a better way since I have the source files. How long do you want it?
EDIT: Also, if you (or another music guy) is bored, maybe remake this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RavRbwtl18U

Your lengthened version will be an MP3 export of an MP3 export. That alone is a bad idea.Demolition wrote:Geez, not even giving my lengthened version a chance are you?Doctor Shemp wrote:I'll lengthen it myself in a better way since I have the source files. How long do you want it?

Re: Updates/Announcements
Though, it loops. Did you check it to make sure that there's actually any noticeable lossyness? (Note: I'm too lazy to do so myself. Not that my word matters here) I've used Audacity before, and it seems pretty legit. Would you rather save time or say that you did something?Doctor Shemp wrote: Your lengthened version will be an MP3 export of an MP3 export. That alone is a bad idea.

Re: Updates/Announcements
I've already done a pretty major something in writing the track in the first place. My ego is not at issue here. There definitely is lossyness because it's a 128 kbps export, and anything below 192 kbps is audible lossyness to most of the population.AUS wrote:Though, it loops. That being said it actually is a good loop. Demolition, would it be possible for you to rebuild the loop using this FLAC as the source (which will prevent a double lossyness export without making you download a 200 MB WAV) and export it at 192 kbps this time?

Re: Updates/Announcements
As neat as it may look, having too many graphic changes/too large graphics can cause smbx to spaz out, plus increase the load time. honestly not worth it for a titlescreen.

Re: Updates/Announcements
It didn't spaz out or take longer to load or anything when I tested it.
The background was also changed a bit to replace the orange-yellow blob, do you have any thoughts on that?.

Re: Updates/Announcements
If I don't hear anything on Town 7 very shortly, I'm gonna have to give it to someone else.
Right now, the main thing delaying us is the Sound Stuff (Shemp: Get a hold of Kashkabald and see what's going on) and the cutscenes. Please give updates and post what you have.

I should mention I've updated the titlescreen since then:

OK, I actually gave this a look, and yeah, you're right, this is better. One things though: you missed a bunch of NPCs and effects. Can you do those?Demolition wrote:It didn't spaz out or take longer to load or anything when I tested it.

EDIT: NVM, looks like you intended those.

Let's just say that custom stuff is getting tedious, but I'm able to release a functional version very soon.SAJewers wrote:If I don't hear anything on Town 7 very shortly, I'm gonna have to give it to someone else.

Re: Updates/Announcements
Might as well get this out now: http://www.mediafire.com/download/om1j3 ... isode1.zip
NOTE:
Also note that you will need the latest version of the DevKit, which you can get here. If you grabbed it the last time I made an update a few days ago, then just grab this.
NOTE:
- Does not contain the OW
- Does not contain the HUB, or any HUB for that matter
- Does not contain any Cutscenes
- Does not contain the Credits
- If you test any levels, you must do so via the level editor
- Due to a mistake on my end, Take it what now isn't included in the main archive, so go download this.
- Make sure the archive contains the latest version(s) of your level(s)
- Make sure everything looks/sounds correctly
- Make sure any bad levels didn't sneak through QC/ the reviewers
- Make sure any custom music used in any level will not trigger any Youtube ContentID violations, or you feel should be changed for potential copyright reasons.
- Find bugs
- See if any levels require graphic/music replacements (specifically, changing something back to the SMBX default)
- See if there's any music/graphics that are unused that can be removed to lower the filesize.
- See if there any any levels we have to remove/replace with another level. I expect a few will have to be removed due to shoddy quality that slipped through the reviewers, or music/copyright reasons.
Also note that you will need the latest version of the DevKit, which you can get here. If you grabbed it the last time I made an update a few days ago, then just grab this.
