Honestly, the only ones that sounded too loud were the unchanged ones. Maybe if we change those, it'll work out better.

OK, a bit of testing using MP3Gain to level the sounds at 88dB. The only one I find too loud:

thwomp
block-hit
wart-bubble
birdo-spit
door

Everything else sounds OK.

Ok, I used MP3Gain's Track Gain to level the whole folder to 88 then used Track Gain to level the ones you mentioned to 87. Same link as always.

Admittedly, I tested it while watching a twitch stream, but it sounds fine now.

I've already come to the limit of the usable parts of my stock FX collection, and some other stuff has come up that means this isn't top priority for me anymore. If anyone has some suggestions of effects that would be appropriate then I can put them in and (try) to level them appropriately. Alternatively, if you just have suggestions that would be thematically appropriate - like the whip sound for Sheath was, or the toaster sound for the Birdo replacement - I could try and find those.

By the way, I did see the suggestion earlier for making the rupee sound the sound of a lolly wrapper being scrunched, and I can tell you that without the visual context of seeing a lolly wrapper that sound makes no sense.

Well, it was suggested some months ago that the Yoshi Sound Effects become Llama Sounds. Since Wart is now a Duck, maybe make the Wart Sound Effects Duck Quack Sounds?

Anyway, here are a couple more you might be able to use.

Two Things:

1) Can we make this game.beat.mp3? Since we don't have one at the moment, it's probably easier to use this than get one made up.

2) I really want to use This as OW music, but it annoys me how it cuts out. If one of you guys wants to remake this, feel free, otherwise I'll just use what I have in the devkit right now, which is a fade out.

No, that's still the case. It's just it would be easier for the super leek theme to use up a sound effect than use LunaDLL to play it.

Like I mentioned in IRC I didn't know that Yoshi also uses the Birdo spit SFX. Should I change it? It doesn't sound appropriate that he sounds like a toaster too but I guess it's kind of amusing.

can we make the thwomp sound effect a whoopee cushion? while it makes no sense with the thwomps, it would add so much hilarity with the fart catnips, where I believe the sound effect is shared.
edit: lemme check tomorrow, I may have a sound effect you can use.

So, are you going to go through all the levels to make sure that the sound effect change isn't going to screw anything up? Because I don't think farting mega smashers (well, pipes actually) would work somehow. Granted, now that I know about it, I can work around it, but what about other people's levels?

Seriously, we can't just keep continuing making changes after people have submitted their levels. It forces people to go back and makes changes, maybe forcing other people to make changes.

We'll never be finished at this rate. I speak from experience here. I work somewhere where the deadline has been moved three times now, because somebody keeps making changes, which kept impacting on other areas. We were supposed to have finished in time for the London Olympics.

This change is not vital, so I don't think we should go through with it.

This is why I said when the project started that we should complete the devkit first, then let people make levels. That way, problems like that could be avoided.

EDIT: Also, This isn't holding us back, it's the cutscenes.

OK, might as well just post this for you Shemp, it's the Sound Effects that I have, from T2002, and Continuum. bong14 and bong15 are fart sounds. Also, they're all .wav files, just with a different file extension.

I think replacing that specific sound with something as silly as a fart noise is going get seriously annoying, in the sense that it doesn't fit the Thwomps in the slightest and the fact that they appear relatively regularly, continuously throwing that out of place noise in your face.

Yeah, I'm all for pushing for jokes but for something as ubiquitous as the 'bump' sound, it's going to get annoying pretty fast.

SFX Pack 3
Extract into your Sounds folder. Doesn't include SFX Pack 1, Birdo Pack or Wart Pack and partially overwrites Birdo Pack (replacing the spit sound since Cat-Llamas will appear more often than Robot Toasters).

It makes it so you can't monetize videos. There's a lengthy appeals process, but you would lose money if you are a YT partner since most people have already view your video in the first week or so. It also advertises for that music.

So... It doesn't seem like youtube is causing too many problems... Unless raocow is monetizing his videos? Should I find music to replace Take Five anyway? (I don't really know what I would put in its place)

He's a partner, of course he's monetizing his videos. You could replace it with a different arrangement that doesn't get ID'd. This one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hOmMZ8vcc0 definitely won't.
