is this videogames?
Re: SMBX Help Thread
You can't have more than one SMB3 exit star per section?
Well that slipped through the reviews of my level then

Re: SMBX Help Thread
Wait really? Is this true? It slipped through the reviews of my level too. And I submitted my level as well... crap.Trotim wrote:You can't have more than one SMB3 exit star per section?

EDIT: Is it alright if I move one of the power stars to a different section and resubmit my level?

Re: SMBX Help Thread
that has been said many times throughout past threads, but yeah, I agree it's a pretty huge overlook from reviewersTrotim wrote:You can't have more than one SMB3 exit star per section?

Re: SMBX Help Thread
Maybe the wiki or something should have a place to put how many stars are there in a level?
That'd make reviewing them easier

Re: SMBX Help Thread
I suggested that already, I believe it got put in the Worlds page.derjet wrote:Maybe the wiki or something should have a place to put how many stars are there in a level?

Re: SMBX Help Thread
But isn't that for levels already reviewed (since they were assigned to a World and that)SAJewers wrote:I suggested that already, I believe it got put in the Worlds page.derjet wrote:Maybe the wiki or something should have a place to put how many stars are there in a level?

Re: SMBX Help Thread
okay, i've been working on this level for a little while now but now whenever i try to open it i get an invalid picture error, it seems to be caused by block-87 but i can't tell why. does anyone else get the same thing when opening it?
EDIT: reinstalling asmbx fixed it i don't know why

Re: SMBX Help Thread
You can't really. Make all of the things you want to reset generators, and have a block that hides Spawned NPCs, and then shows the generators just long enough for them to generate one on hit.Octagon wrote:How can I cause a door to be a reset door?

Re: SMBX Help Thread
I'm a total noob to SMBX and I don't have time to figure this out, so for the draft version, I'll just have the reset door lead into a separate room which I have to enter and leave again in order to reset coins, switches and enemies. Still, thank you.
Re: SMBX Help Thread
That won't work.
Stuff doesn't respawn in SMBX if it's taken, killed, activated, what have you.

Re: SMBX Help Thread
My suggestion at this point, if it's that easy to screw things over - make whatever you want to do a 'one time shot' to get to a second exit (and indicate it as such in some fashion) and otherwise have a way to progress foward.

Re: SMBX Help Thread
you can make a "limited" reset door, by copying the whole room into another and make the warp go into the copy
is this videogames?
Re: SMBX Help Thread
Having a reset door at that point was more of a matter of personal preference, really. There's a P-Switch which you can waste if you play very, very clumsily or mindlessly, and since the actual challenge should come from a jump which is only required due to the P-Switch thing, I felt like you should never have to kill yourself right before that jump (and the subsequent transition to the next room)...

Couldn't you just have a constantly respawning p-swicth?Octagon wrote:Having a reset door at that point was more of a matter of personal preference, really. Re: SMBX Help Thread
You cannot edit them sadly. They are hard-coded.
The first thing I would do with infinite power would be to make myself a cave where I could look at my shadow forever.

I made a game called Utter Confusion! Play it! :D
It's a lot of fun and has been incredibly popular at every indie game dev party I've brought it to.

Is it possible to make an event that triggers when you enter a new section? I'd like to make a sound play.

Re: SMBX Help Thread
you could use an invisible sprite, like a smb axe, place it over the warp exit have it cause an event upon death.dr_kraid wrote:Is it possible to make an event that triggers when you enter a new section? I'd like to make a sound play.
