Shops for the Rupee drops: AZCT Shops and Pricing

Post by jayScribble »

From our Doctor Shemp, here is our list for suggested Items for the shops:
Doctor Shemp wrote:Assuming that Overworld 1 is up to the Flipper Dungeon and Overworld 2 is everything past that, and that the overworlds themselves are non-linear, here's my opinion on which items should be on each overworld (be it hidden or in shops):

Overworld 1
  • Bait
  • Bomb Bag: Medium (would require bombs to access)
  • Boomerang: Magic (or well hidden in the Boomerang Minidungeon)
  • Cane of Byrna
  • Charge Ring 1
  • Heart Ring 1
  • Magic Ring 1
  • Peril Ring
  • Scroll: Peril Beam
  • Scroll: Spin Attack
  • Stone of Agony
  • Sword: White (with beef gate)
  • Wallet 1
  • Wealth Medal 1
  • Whisp Ring 1 (assuming anyone's used jinxes)
Overworld 2
  • Arrows: Silver
  • Blue Ring
  • Bomb Bag: Large
  • Bombs: Super (ideally after running a gauntlet of Phantom Ghinis, so you can have the satisfaction of blowing them up on the way back out)
  • Bow: Long
  • Charge Ring 2
  • Heart Ring 2
  • Magic Book
  • Magic Ring 2
  • Red Ring
  • Scroll: Cross Beams
  • Scroll: Hurricane Spin
  • Scroll: Super Quake (would require a hammer to access)
  • Spells: All
  • Sword: Magic
  • Wallet 2
  • Wealth Medal 2
  • Whimsical Ring
  • Whisp Ring 2 (assuming anyone's used jinxes)
Ignoring some of the items with notes beside them, we have a good start on what items are where, but the pricing and placement of the shops themselves in correlating to the dungeons and dungeon order is another issue that we must tackle.

Post discussions, ideas and suggestions below to help know if the price is right and the availability of those items is understandable.

Speaking of the shops, with the default ones, I'm sure it's possible to buy the same item twice accidentally, wasting your Rupees. To avoid this, and make it look nicer, why don't we use a shop script? There's a few over on PureZC (the domain is down right now, though; you can find it at http://www.celestialrealm.net/ for the time being) that I could modify to where the weapons and equipment vanish from the shop when purchased so you can't accidentally repurchase them.

Assuming the script can be modified to allow items like ammo & potions to be purchased repeatedly then that sounds like a great idea.

Oh, of course! It wouldn't need modifications. All the shop scripts, by default, allow rebuying, so I'd have to code them to NOT allow rebuying.

The other advantage of the shop script is that you can then have more or less than 3 items per shop.

Are Din's Fire and the Cane of Byrna being changed at all as far as how they look when used? I have ideas but I want to know if they've already been modded or not.

Nope. Although it would be good if the animations had squares going on somewhere in the mix. Sheath's power in ATXS is making squares out of energy and doing things with them, so squares are involved a lot in all the magic visuals so far.

Well then, my suggested names are the Block Block (Cane of Byrna) and the Ice Cube (Din's Fire)

E: Except the Ice Cube works better for the Ether Medallion than it does for Din's Fire... what sort of angular things relate to fire?

A flatiron grill, maybe? I mean, whatever we do, it's not entirely necessary that it makes sense.

Those are both great, though. :D Din's Fire isn't used for any puzzles, we could do an ice thing.

Why not swap those two for custom items? If we can't think of anything to fit them, we ignore them and MAKE something that fits!

We could make an ice rod that can stun enemies by way of power 0, but...we probably won't be able to get them to actually look frozen, unless we use ghost.zh enemies.
