AZCT Resource Claiming/Organization Thread

Alright, I think it's time we get this thread set up so compiling all dungeons and the overworld together will be much easier. Post here which tiles, combos, script slots/scripts using, custom enemies, custom items, and custom palettes you're claiming, so there are no conflicts. We want everything to be easier for everyone, right?

(On the note of script Read this thread for a tutorial on how to combine global scripts that use the same slot.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not list what palettes you use unless they are custom! This list is just telling people which slots are and aren't free, and I think it's to be assumed that the premade palettes aren't going to be touched.

-Tiles-

All I'm using so far is the pit and stair scripts. Yeah.

I'm not good with gimmicks.

You might want to include custom item slots. I'm going to be using four of them.

-Tiles-
12448, 12449,
12468, 12469, 12470, 12471, 12472, 12473.
(They are even arranged like that in the tile screen)

-Combos-
904, 905, 906, 907, 909, 910, 911
(Not that I am not claiming 908, because it turned out I didn't need that so I deleted it.)

-Dmaps-
I claim 1 Dmap. My dungeon currently uses 56, but I don't know if that's important or not.

-Screens-
I don't know what this is talking about.

-Palettes-
My level uses Zelda level 1 with Csets 1, 2, 8, 0, and 11. Feel free to screw with all those empty black spaces in those palettes though, it won't mess any of my things up.

Oh? For what, then? And I need the item slot numbers, then.

Yes, I was specifically referring to the dmap number(s) you use.
-Screens-
I don't know what this is talking about.
Screens. Those little squares on the map that are each room. In ZQuest, they are called Screens. In the order of YX. So, the upper-left corner is Screen 00, bottom-left is 70, top-right is 0F (do not go past y7 in dungeons unless they are another dmap), and bottom-right is 7F.

I only need this when you're done with your dungeon, so you know exactly which ones are getting used.

I only need to know this if you use a custom palette. I don't think anyone will be editing the original palettes at all...

Oh? For what, then?

Because of the way Link's sprite is handled, the easiest way to modify it on the fly is to give Link an "item" every time his sprite needs to change. So, in using the Game Boy style Bracelet/Gauntlet, one custom item slot is needed for the gauntlet itself, and another three are needed for pulling, carrying, and holding Link sprites.

Oh right! XD Derp. So, which slots do you need this for, and what tiles will you be putting them at?

I haven't committed to anything yet, so just tell me what slots are convenient.

Any. So far, you're the only one to take custom item slots...

Roger. I will claim the first four, in that case.

I just used map 1...
And, now that I'm looking at it again I just realized that I also used screens 00 and 01 as layers.

Don't worry so much about individual maps, DMaps, and screens, guys. Those shouldn't be a big problem aside from layers which I'll have to reassign unless you guys use autolayer unless they're on the same map. The more concerning stuff is the actual tiles, combos, enemies, and other stuff that I was actually planning on having to fix myself. It's kinda a relief to know there's at least some effort to get everything lined up.

Oh? I figured it'd be difficult to get everything imported correctly if they were to use the same maps, dmaps, and screens. especially maps. but, if you say you've got it covered, I'll leave you to it...

I suppose I'll take off the dmap and screen options, then.

I haven't officially started putting stuff down in the dungeon yet because I need some scripting magic done for me, but I know I'll be needing at least one item slot (probably, maybe two), at least four enemy slots, and maybe more stuff once I start actually putting things in the dungeon.

Claiming Combos 924 - 943 for my dungeon, Luna's chariot.

Also claiming tiles 6 - 10, assuming it doesn't break the game somehow (since they're pretty small numbers and maybe relevant even though they're blank fields).

EDIT: Will we need to claim strings, too? Cause I'll be using a whole lot of them...

Aposke wrote:EDIT: Will we need to claim strings, too? Cause I'll be using a whole lot of them...
oh my

I considered strings, but then I figured, no one's gonna have that many strings, so it'll be easy to just have people tell whoever's compiling everything together what the strings say and on what screen they're used. But...Eh.

EDIT: Also I dunno if editing tiles 6-10 will hurt anything. On the one hand, they USED to be where Link goes, but not in the default tileset. On the other hand...it's where they used to go. :< I don't know how that works, so for now, consider it ok.

I made combos 504-511 correspond to the corner tiles.

Look below.

Is it best that I change them to other tiles, like 888 through 895? Just asking.

Just so you're aware, I'm using the ladder script that was posted in the help thread and two copies of a modified Aquamentus. That's about it.

Nah, it's good; in fact, I did the exact same thing. (Speaking of my dungeon, I figure since I made the thread, I shouldn't claim anything yet...)

I didn't make a new monster enemy, all I did was turn off the "never respawn" flags on Aquamentus.

Current combos and tiles: combos 892-900 and page 1 of tiles. Let me know if I should relocate somewhere else.

Current scripts: Enemy tile swap script, NPC script, Shoe suit script (may or may not end up being used), FFC changer sounds script, sideview ladder script, and moving platform script. Don't go looking around for these, I wrote most of them for this dungeon. Just give me some available slots and I'll relocate them.

Enemies: Fire pols voice in slot 177.

Palettes: 01B

I should mention that for anyone trying to move enemies later on you can hold [ and double click an enemy to copy it and ] while double clicking to paste. Strangest copy/paste shortcut ever.

Alright, got you down. I gave you script slots 0-5, and I'd like to suggest that since we're all using the sideview ladder script that it be Slot 0, the first slot. I'm sure everyone will put it in Slot 0 anyway. lol
