It is okay to post here, but hardly anyone comments on LP's that aren't by raocow for some reason.
If there is a rise on viewers, it worked. Otherwise, not so much. And that could be the game or the LPer.

Personally I don't like watching (turn based) RPG's in general when I haven't played it myself most of the time.

Finally got around to reading the topic and watching the videos. This was like, among the last of the games I ever rented for SNES, so I'm kinda interested in seeing how to "successfully" build and play out robots. I got horribly, horribly stuck on the Big Eye boss if I recall correctly, as I couldn't figure out what sort of pattern you were supposed to follow to dodge his lasers and everything I ever read about that fight was "this guy, you just kill him, kay?" That's putting aside all the crud you put up with in the events to get to that fight.

Anyhow, the game is evidently called Slap Stick in Japan.

Anyhow, for robot-building, let's go with R66-Y, a Yellow Robot with Shields and Shot weapons (lasers when you can get those). Um... Go for high Power and Guard (make battles slightly less of a chore), or high Guard and Health (make battles more of a chore, but have hits to spare). Then again, taking my advice will probably just get you screwed over. :P

I think the fact that, given the option to build any robot I want, I build a JRPG crossover, is a testament to how video games have killed my imagination. Sadly, it's probably for the best that that thing died.

There are a few other nifty tricks that Poikbot can do with his current setup that R66-Y can't do (besides opening the bonus pokeballs in battle). But as you said, the whole dang game is trial and error, so I don't know if you're just waiting for a better time to show them, don't know of them, or they're just crummy in battle and just look cool because they're different.

Yes, that's right, they call Earth here Quintenix. "They" being Quintet and Enix. Well, now we know who's responsible for self-insertion fanfics.

Spiffy point, at about 6:41, pay a bit of attention to your robots. R66-Y's greater defense has granted him a different body than Poikbot's for the time being, but it's nearly impossible to notice unless the robots are looking at you. To put it simply, Poikbot has robotits, and R66-Y has a carrying handle!

I tracked down a scan of the instruction manual... I was hoping it'd give a couple more weapon/item recipes, but no, Enix really expected you to trial and error most "creative" items together. Regardless, here's a few things I caught from the booklet:

You've got a lot of cleans (antidotes). I remember rust (poison) in this game to be really harsh to deal with, so I wouldn't use all of them, but Clean + Cure = Repair.
The book suggests your first robot should have 20 Energy, 7 Power, 6 Defense, 4 Speed, and 3 Charge. Ha, well, screw that.
XRR and LRL program suggestions... However, since none of our robots use the default equipment set up, I've got a hunch that neither of them will work as the book suggests.

No, it's not just you, everything Count Prinky said in that video is just completely messed up.

I can't find anything on how damage in this game is calculated, or any real enemy stats for that matter, so I have no idea what's going on with the variance between those shot attacks. I guess maybe the shot-shot-shot combo divided a single shot attack among three rows and decided that was really powerful so it reduced the damage?

Anyhow, your LP so play however you want, but apparently sometime through the game you'll get Blow-type weapons, which are like ranged punches and would fit the R66-Y theme better than lasers. And lasers apparently suck in this game. Needless to say, I never found either in my playthrough.

Anyway, the way Mint got in the clock tower was sort of glanced over in the text. Remember that whole business about time being displaced in the mansion? Mint is actually Count Prinky's great-grandmother, who was coincidentally buried in the enchanted forest. When the mansion was built, her spirit regressed back in time to where it displaced her out of the mansion. She's long forgot how her boyfriend (Dr. Akirakahariababa however you spell it) collected rodents, which is why there's a mouse in her purse. Also, she used the back door. Trick clock tower, remember?

It is too bad that we will never see mice in this game ever again. Grumble mumble grumble stupid mice.
