Oh, doy! You wrote it just fine. It was my brain that didn't register what you said there properly.

(1) Intro + Freeze & Shade Man / (1-Silent)

After not playing Mega Man for awhile, it's time to play some Mega Man for awhile. Decided to actually try voiced commentary for this series, so don't expect this to be anywhere near as decent as my usual subtitled style. If you can't put up with my voice, rejoice that there's going to be a silent version uploaded later.

The first of hopefully three games leading up and maybe through Mega Man's 25th Anniversary, but don't hold me to that.

(2) Turbo & Cloud Man / (2-Silent)

Land and air battles in this one, and both levels gave me a few problems like the tire part in Turbo Man's stage and a few "What am I doing?!" jumps in Cloud Man's. Yeah, this game can be tricky at times when you're used to the SNES version of it.

I'm trying to work on fixing the static for the silent runs, but the ones with me talking are going to be stuck with it thanks to just how old the mic I'm using is. At least it's fun to try making these videos in a different way for a change.

(3) Burst & Spring Man / (3-Silent)

This has kind of been an old-school type of series for me where it's just sit down, beat the stages with whatever mistakes I make, and then get ready to upload it. It's so much easier this way. I think the actual microphone audio is better in this episode, but I'd like to know what you all think about it for whoever is watching this one.

So yeah. Burst Man's stage is easier because you have more room to work with although the boss is one of the hardest in the game if you don't know how to get out of those bubbles in time. Spring Man's par for the course which means the toy box is an afterthought. Next!

(4) Junk & Slash Man / (4-Silent)

Junk Man looks stupid and Slash Man's fight is stupid.

(5) Proto Man / (5-Silent)

To even battle Proto Man, you have to go find his top secret hiding places throughout the world and all in one go. Cloud, Turbo, and then Shade Man in that order. I do just that and pick up another part along the way because the Proto/Blues Shield? Come on...

I'm starting to have more fun behind the microphone even when my voice isn't doing the greatest. Good, that's more how I am normally anyway.

(6) Wily 1, 2, & 3 / (6-Silent)

Not one, not two, but three levels in today's video! Wow, that's a lot of levels! Silliness aside, the game kind of forces you to go through all three at once. Considering Mega Man 7 does the same thing unless you're using save states in the middle of each level, that's fine by me even if it makes Bass look pretty weak as a result.

(7) Wily 4 & Ending / (7-Silent)

Way back when I did Mega Man 7 on here, I just could not finish off my perfect run without dropping a save state midway through the final stage. This game doesn't have those, and while it's not perfect, I like how this one ends. Also brought along a new microphone for the ride to try and improve the quality of these videos. Hope you enjoyed this one.

I randomly decided to check out this thread after not checking it in... I have no idea how long, and I didn't realize that you switched over to audio commentary! Last time I watched one of your videos you had text-commentary, so I never really kept up! But I do enjoy your voice, so uh, keep it up!

Also, I have no idea why, but I've always read your posts in RoahmMythril's voice. No idea why that's what I imagined your voice to be like.

I'm only doing vocal commentary for the FC games, and it looks like I'll be doing it again since RM8FC beat Kirby's Dream Land 2 by one vote. Still, thanks. I like using text more, but it's fun trying something different.

(1) Intro & Tengu Man / (1-Silent)

It was a very close vote, but Mega Man won out in the end over Kirby by a single vote. Chances are I'll do both playthroughs anyway, but I'm going to focus on the Blue Bomber one more time. I did the demo over two years ago, but it's improved since then and is close enough to be called finished for my tastes to give it a second go right now! Even better, I've got my improved audio settings right off the bat. Let's keep it that way.

Taking off with Tengu Man first because he's generally my starter pick anyway. I always loved this level's music, and the demake makes sure to include both the PS1 and Saturn version of his theme to boot. Awesome! Also, the gameplay is much more fair now as I go over in the video, although Tengu himself remains a challenge. I'm up for it... eventually.

Oh wow, cool. I ended up going on a teensy archive binge the other day, and ended up watching your playthrough of Megaman 8 on the playstation (plus a few others). It was really good. I'd never actually seen that game played before, just bashed roundly for...not being Megaman 2, I guess. I'm interested to see how FC manages to 8-bitify such an interesting game.

On the issue of text vs voice...Well, I really enjoyed your text lps, but I'm one of those poor, deluded souls who enjoy watching ProtonJon and that crowd of big-name speech let's players, so I guess it doesn't actually matter to me. (At first, text lps kinda annoyed me since I occasionally just sit back and listen to gameplay rather than actively watch it, but after I started watching yours, Pink's and Mineyl's, minds were changed). Your voice certainly isn't bad.

Also, man, it is pretty awkward to post in a thread that doesn't have too much activity other than the OP's posts. I still prefer commenting via talkhaus because I tend to be somewhat verbose for youtube's standards, but yeah. I have a vote for the next stages, but I'll post it on teh youtubes, if only because extra comments = better place on the youtube sorting algorithm.

Also, just as a random question, did you ever play the various 3D Megamans, and if so, what are your opinions? I heard Legends wasn't that good (never played it myself), but Legends 2 was a fun little game that was riddled with typical Capcomisms and The Misadventures Of Tronne Bonne was actually one of the more unique games I've played. (I also thought that Command Mission was pretty good for what it was; it wasn't exactly the most depthy RPG, but it had a nice, quick battle system and Zero sounded like a surfer, which is...better than he did in other games?)

I kind of like people posting in here to discuss the game, too, so don't worry about it. Anyway, only 3D Mega Man games I've played were Legends 1 and X7. The former's good with a dated control scheme, the other is just not a good game at all. Oh wait, I did play Command Mission, too. It was a decent RPG.

Huh. I never even knew that there were 3D games in the X series, besides Command Mission. I don't necessarily think that the traditional Jump'n'shoot Man gameplay people associate with Megaman transfers especially well to 3D sometimes-- when I try thinking of games that combine shooting and platforming convincingly, all I come up with is Ratchet and Clank. Maybe that's just a sign of how relatively naive I am in those genres, though. I've always found the 3D Megamans that I've played to be quite charming, even if that didn't necessarily translate to the best gameplay.
(Although, maybe that was just the result of that weird 100 question pop culture quiz in Megaman Legends 2. That was...unique. How many albums, excluding compilations, did the Sex Pistols release? One. Man, the things you'll do for a Z-sabre when you're 11...)

Just to be annoying and ask more questions about Megaman, what's your personal favourite of the series? I think mine is probably Network Transmission for the Gamecube. It played like the Classic series games, what with having 2D platforming augmented by a slide as opposed to a dash, but it drew on the Battle Network framework for its weapons system, which meant you got a fair bit of depth out of it. It also had the same sort've system as Megaman 8 did, allowing you to use your buster whilst having a special weapon readied. I think it may have been pretty easy, though, seeing as even I was able to complete it.

One thing I'm interested in seeing in Rockman 8 FC is if they keep the various environmental interactions with the boss weapons. If those were around before 7 & 8, I didn't really notice them, and I think they're super neat.

I like Mega Man X4 the most because of the arcade action the game presents. It's the one and only game where I feel like you're playing as a super-powered robot that can take on an army, and that's exactly what you do in it. Art and soundtrack only enhances the experience. After that, it would be X2, X1, MM4, 3, 10, and 8 in that order.

(2) Clown Man / (2-Silent)

Clown Man's stage has been toned down for the better in the transporter box section thanks to actually giving you time to attack then move to the next one. The boss fight has been toned up which makes the fight more frantic. That's also for the better since I remember him being an absolute joke a couple of years ago in an older version. Don't get the insta-KO trains, but it's not like I'd let myself get hit by those anyway. Mm-hmm.

(3) Grenade Man / (3-Silent)

One of biggest pet peeves is when something doesn't work the way it should. The last couple of days, it's been the site these videos are on.

Back in the day, it was the stage you're about to watch. Grenade Man's level had the most annoying miniboss I can ever remember facing just because the difficulty kept ramping up until the point where it was nigh impossible to get out of the thing without a scratch. Now? It actually realizes that stable difficulty can be a good thing. Fine by me.

(4) Aqua Man / (4-Silent)

Aqua Man is the indisputably best robot master in Mega Man 8, and it's finally time to take him down. Since Mega can't swim like he could in the original game, there is one semi-difficult jump to make in the stage, but the rest of it goes much more smoothly than it did.

After that, a look at the shop and the alternate path I didn't take in the main run. Yeah, this one went by swimmingly even though we can't swim at all.

(5) Frost Man / (5-Silent)

This stage is quite the ride, but it's only half as long as it used to be thanks to a very peculiar design decision. For whatever reason, the area past the continue point in Frost Man's stage hits the chopping block. Even if you're not a fan of the whole jet board gimmick, it's never cool to take stuff out. That's just my opinion.

Outside of that, it's an easy level. Next, next!

(6) Astro Man / (6-Silent)

From what I remember, this level is practically unchanged from the demo of long ago. That means that you're mostly in danger of losing by being knocked into one of the many pits thanks to all the enemies that love to fly up out of them at you. Outside of the outside portions, this stage is simple.

You know what? I know this is jumping the gun a little bit, but I can't wait to see the Wily stages, especially the
Bass Battle.
I really liked the original Megaman 8, but from what I understand some people didn't?

Yeah, a lot of people don't like it because of the voice acting, look, and even the feel of the game as Mega moves a bit too slow for them. I get the voices, but I really liked the look and how it played.

Anyway, there will be a double update coming later today. I'm just trying to get it all together now.

The one thing I didn't like was the fact that, at one point, you're forced to use the mega ball. I mean, It's an okay weapon, but I don't want to be forced to use something that has limited uses, and only that weapon works. At least it was better than that one boss in Megaman 2. Worse than Wily though, since at least he was simple enough to hit.

(7) Sword Man / (7-Silent)
(8) Search Man / (8-Silent)

It was Mega Man's day, so I decided to get a couple of stages up here instead of one this time around. Turned out to be a little harder than I expected thanks to some tricky platforming shenanigans at the end of Sword Man's stage and with the boss fight against Search Man himself. We got it done, and when I get back to this in a few days, it's on to Wily... I hope!

I'm not as against the Mega Ball since it's rare that you need to use it, although I know the next boss is one you'll be needing it for. At least that fight gives you weapon energy refills.

(9) Wily Tower 1, 2, & 3 / (9-Silent)

Eight bots down, one giant underground fortress to go! Figured I'd tackle the first three stages all in their own video like I did with Mega Man 7's demake, even if it's a two-segment run joined together.

Wily 1's still the "Jump, jump! Slide, slide!" ride that I like, Wily 2 still works on knowing when to stop and when to go, and Wily 3 has a few jumps that still make me nervous. I do want to say that I love the fight with Bass in this one, although he decided he didn't want to put himself in a position to be hit. Smart bot, that Bass.
