raocow: Now in a convenient Miro-shaped package!

Post by Sillyman »

A while ago, I added raocow's Youtube channel's RSS feed to the Miro guide, and I only just recently thought "You know, maybe I should post about this." If you use Miro, this can be a great way to make watching his LPs just that much easier.

So yeah, here it is.

Visit http://www.getmiro.com/ if you have no idea what I'm talking about.

raocow, apparently there's a method by which you can assume control of the Miro Guide entry (or have it removed) if you don't want me to be in charge of this minor detail.
And now the coast is clear, I just need to deal... with my number one fan.
Riku~n, why do you keep wanting to murder me like this?
I wouldn't mind that smile so much if your skin wasn't made of poison for some reason.

YouTube's RSS is buggy as hell and I have the exact same problem with it.

Which is why I built an RSS feed for the archive - http://everything.raocow.com/recent-rss.php - the "catch" is that it doesn't embed videos (it links to episode pages which could contain multiple videos) so I'm not sure how it would work with a site like Miro, if at all. The advantage is that it aggregates videos from any host raocow uses so you're ready for a suprise Viddler out of nowhere :P

As far as I can tell, Youtube's RSS works well enough to make Miro see one copy of the last 25 things raocow uploaded. Of course, this may be because I got the RSS feed via Miro's video search feature from source "Youtube User".

Oh yeah, if there's ever a feed set up on this end that points to downloadable videos directly, let me know and I'll be sure to relink the Miro Guide entry.

I just threw the Youtube and Viddler RSS feeds together with RSSMix and made that the new feed.

The upside? You'll catch them surprise viddlers. Also suddenly there's a bunch of old stuff on the bottom of the feed from when raocow last used viddler.

The downside? The feed name and image you see after adding it are a lot worse, necessitating a rename so you know what in the world the feed is rather than just seeing "RSSMix.com Mix ID 469806" and a default RSS icon.

Edit: Well drat the viddler links to SWFs. Nevermind then.

I figured out the weirdness with YouTube RSS: they have two different feeds.

Don't use this one, it's all glitchy:
http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/raocow/videos.rss

Use this one instead:
http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/use ... ow/uploads

There a error in the second one too.

...Episode 17 after the 22 one.

I'm actually using this one: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/use ... ds?alt=rss

Which I guess is that second one you listed, just with more forced RSSitude.
