Anyways, I just beat the game a couple hours ago so I'll write a review and some of my thoughts on it and whatnot:

I gotta say ZephyrBurst, you did a pretty dang great job. Some people might not agree with me but I genuinely enjoyed Distorted Travesty. I had fun with the chain jump shenanigans.

Being perfectly honest, I thought that Sky Base was the most difficult thing in the game. Yes, I thought it was harder than the Spire of Forgotten Souls and the Shroud Lord and the Shady Woods and everything else. The only thing that gave me difficulty in it, though, was the target scores. Those freaking target scores man. It took me just over a week to 100% that place, even WITH the techniques slaix used.

Now as for the midboss in the second to last level (the mansion, I forget what it's called)... Well, I just sat there and kept whacking him and taking hits, and changing elements according to its colour. So I thought that was kind of a disappointing battle. (Although, I was on beginner...)

The Shroud Lord did indeed feel like a final battle (well, mostly final, y'know). I have no idea how you were supposed to dodge some of those lasers in his last rave mode thing though. And the final place was really, really amazing. It certainly did feel like a final place, what with X and the shrouds helping you and everything. The end of the game was really great and fun and just... wow. My score at the end was a B, and when Jeremy came out that was pretty hilarious.

I remember at one point in the middle of the game I forgot to use a lot of my skill crystals and when I got to the Shady Caves I for some reason remembered and noticed I had 42 to use. Heh.

The difficulty curve was just about perfect. Also the storyline was amazing and got surprisingly intense in the second half of the game. I thought the music choices were great too.

At the end of the game when I had to make the choice between if the Artist was lying or the Darkness, I was like "WHAT DO I DO NOOOOOO" so when the clock got to 1 I just clicked the Artist. Would the ending have been different if I would have picked the Darkness or if I would have let time run out?

You did a really, really, really amazing job with the game, DarkYoshi. Oh and yes, I did in fact 100% the game. I'm looking forward to playing DT 2 and 3 whenever I happen to get around to it.

I'll add some more thoughts if I think of any.

Should I post a couple of relevant save files, if it's ok with Zephyr?

There are a couple things that people might want to see but can be missed if they're not careful. I could give save files that come just before those moments.

• Just before Shroud Lord, so you can access the choice that comes after the fight.
• Just before the last sequence of the game, in which if you beat it, you get to see extra content based on having at least a C-rank.

That whale sequence was the most baffling and hilarious thing ever when I tried out the Ruins with the new patch. Mind you, that wasn't in the previous version.

I wonder if any other places had something random like that added?

I´m pretty sure that was some kinda fishy encounter raocow had there cause i didnt have that experience^^
I wonder though if other parts also have been slightly nerfed in the sense to make the game reasonable, because honestly, this game kinda lives by it being a big challenge...

There have been things like a platform moving around a bit, a spawn point moving, and other small things like that changed. But this is the first and only 'major' nerfing, I guess you could say. Periodically I had slightly nerfed a boss' base stats, but that was pre-raocow days. (Ultimate Phalanx used to guard his face way way more, which was just annoying.) But yeah, looking at the level again, it was definitely unreasonable, so things in that tunnel were spaced out a bit more.

The whale sequence was indeed added in this update because... it's goofy and humorous, idk. :P
No other major additions like that have made it in though. The dialogue itself foreshadows other things. I figured why not take a moment to tie it a little better to other... things. ('Yay retcons' as Slaix said.) :P

As for the name on the title screen being changed. That's been there for awhile, but the opening credits thingymabob was just changed this update.

Oh yes, as said on the blog awhile back, the Data Segment will not be changed at all.

I think the old server was in Phoenix, then after the meltdown our new one was set up in Chicago. Us admins are all in Canada, though.

Oh also, Zephyr, a story question I've been confused on:

Are we to infer that the Darkness has become something other than a mere computer program and has drawn the "real" and virtual worlds together into one reality? Or are the people simply plugged into a computer simulation world somehow?

I thought the former on my playthrough... but I'm not sure now, and I'd like confirmation.

EDIT: And in other news, I accidentally deleted my saved game file when updating to the latest version. Herp derp. Added incentive for me to play through the game again, I suppose...

It's a merge of the two, but for how things work within the world, it's still a computer simulation, such as Jeremy being able to access high level functions at times.

The youtube reactions to the level change are interesting and as I figured they would be. I was pretty sure the change would bring on negative reactions over all. It also gets me to thinking I should revert it back to how it was though.

To raocow: If you ever want to try the older version of that, run any version before 4.5. Going up and down versions does not screw up your saves.

Edit: I think it's actually pretty cool that the change wasn't well taken. It says something about those that play this game and that they don't really want levels nerfed, or in this case, end game bonus levels.

Because they are .ini files and it's pretty hard to fuck those up, which is the advantage of using a custom save system in Game Maker. (Speaking of which, there sure is a lot of Game Maker on raocow.com lately.)

I just found this little exchange hilarious. Can't speak a word of German, so I have no idea what other things they're saying, but they've made it further than any other LP of the game I've seen.

They're stuck on the Shroud Lord. Guess they decided to take a break from that and head to the Spire instead.

EDIT: They have issued a challenge to ZephyrBurst. I must admit I'd be interested in seeing such a video myself. ;)
