That's good to know. After hearing what the guys from Giant Bomb are saying about that game I was already interested in it but hearing that I think I will get Kid Icarus now. Thanks for the info.

Anyways, it was ovious that such a boss is coming up considering there are elements. Most games with elemental attacks have a boss that has one weakness that changes constantly. It's like some weird rule for Boss-weaknesses or something. Aside from that, I had some trouble with this boss. The water attack can be quite a pain in the lower area if you forget that you have Earth Shift. Also as funy as the whole QTE thing is, it is good that it ended as soon as it did, before the gimmick became annoying.

Fun fact: I actually had my little sister help me with this boss. I would smash on that guy and she would tell me which element I had to use. Since it changes elements pretty fast and the whole thing was kind of hectical it went about as well as you can think it did. Still, was a lot of fun doing that boss coop.

When he casts his flood you could have casted Earth Shift and stand on the rock.
I just spammed the attack button midair to keep above the water myself. Deals a lot more damage to the boss and it's still not too hard to keep above the water. Also, this boss was easier for me than flame instigator, I beat both on my first try but flame instigator left me at pretty much 0 health.

The elevator room, even with rave mode, was actually significantly more difficult than the boss. Even with rave mode it still took me five tries to beat. Once from the spikes, 3 times I managed to dash down the pit as I'd done probably 100 times before that, then I finally beat it.

You should get comfortable with element cycling as well as techniques cycling (fixed at E and Q). It's important to be mindful of your techniques so you know what to do in a tough situation.

Also, there's a "Remember Menu Position" option if you prefer to switch things in the menu.

raocow, there's actually like three talents in your skill trees that increase your spirit regeneration. At this point I actually reccomend playing around with a skill respec and taking a good look at all the different things you can get. At 25 internetz, it will be well worth it.

Note to everyone: air-dashing chain works with techniques too, such as Mental Insurrection. It's very helpful.

Since it was already mentioned let me tell you: You are actually supposed to do the air chain dashes with Mental Insurrection. It is WAY easier this way. Sure, you can do it by attacking an enemy with your claws.
But this is the best way to deal with it (and it is actually not as difficult as many might think):
If an enemy is pretty high up in the air cast Blast off. Once in the air make an air dash with J if you are close by the enemy cast Mental Insurrection with L, immediately after that you need to make another air dash. So all you basically need to do is pressing J, then L, then J again etc. It is pretty simple once you get used to it. :)

Good video today.
With one fact stated in your video description you are right: The crystal is brown. This is one of VERY few bugs or glitches that I still find in this game, but by all means this crystal is coloured deep brown. :P It should have been activated by Rupture, not by Blast Off. Luckily there is only one more crystal barrier that has this colour problem (it can be found in the next regular stage and is neither obligatory for moving on nor for collecting any items, it will simply open up a shortcut). So basically today's vid might be the only occasion where you need to handle with this earth/ fire colour issue.
However, raocow as some people have stated in comments, you really should tick to Rave Mode in certain situations. Sure, most of the challenges, if not all of them can be passed without Rave Mode. However, it makes things a lot easier and why not use a gameplay element, that is legit (other than using savestates in Mario Romhacks). These enemy gauntlets are designed with the Rave Mode in mind (at least as far as I can tell). Also it saves you both frustration and time. :) So as for the future, do not mind using Rave Mode for arena fights!

But you have to admit: This stage looks very nice and it has a relaxing theme. I like it a lot though it can be tough getting all the items in here.

Victory is mine!
Finally got that Spirit Aura in the black rock fortress, after 10ish tries. I swear getting through that room with that ridiculous spiked ball monstrosity was harder, took me a while to get used to the timing of air dashing.
Unfortunately I'm still missing a chest in that place somewhere...
Got the one on the spike hall gondola ride, and the rising column glitch one a room or two after.

raocow, you seem frustrated? O_o Never heard you swear before. :(

But to help you out let all the Gear Riders fly to the right just before the door, cast an earth shift, then jump on the rock, make a Blast Off, and then just hammer down Air Dash plus Mental Insurrection.

Just as a fair sign of warning: Will we see sadcow or at least a frustrated raocow tomorrow?

Want a hint/solution for that star door raocow?

An easier way (cause I ain't very subtle)
You can go vertical to get to the star door in the jungle. Just lead all the gear guys to the end near the door, drop a rock, blast off said rock, and chain/airdash/MI off the cluster of gears to get to the door. Should get enough height to reach the door.
My progress thus far:
Finally found that last chest in the Fortress, hiding behind a moving spike wall. Got 100% items so far, except for the sky base (every time I go for scoring rather than survival, I get murdered)

And the Spire. Tried it once, and am rather hesitant to do so again. Evil platforming...
I'm assuming there's prizes either at the end, or every 5 floors. Speaking of which, how big is that place anyway?

The music in West Side Jungle is some sort of remix of 'Reminiscence' or one of its reprises from Suikoden II.

A little bit of both? I guess it's just frustration at not knowing if I'm doing the right thing or not. Add that to a generaly crummy day and yeah :/

LordAlexander:
Yeah, you'll get a prize when you finsihed 5 rooms. There are going to be 8 sets of floors (8 x 5 rooms). But I suggest playing that stage after you received the 7th and thus final Muffin. It is supposed to be the most challenging optional stage in the game.

Against single enemies with nothing in the way, the Mega Buster (the 6B attack, if you prefer) is a better way to use Wave of Awesome - more hits and damage for less spirit energy.

By the way, think of rave mode like you (hopefully) think of bombs in Touhou.

Yes raocow, that star door in the jungle really does expect you to chain airdashes to it. However, it's better to try that one once you have more points in the three spirit regeneration talents. There's no power later that will make getting that one any easier, either.

Some of the other optional prizes in the game require those sorts of air dash shenanigans, and that door is actually both one of the easier ones to get and one of the best prizes IIRC.

Spoilers, in that door is:
A bead that makes you gain spirit energy every time you damage enemies, and some other stuff.
At least that's what I remember it being.

Just remember, we'd rather have Happy raocow than see you 100% the game. Especially if trying leads to the point of swearing raocow.

That new rock attack looks like the result of a 'ground shockwave' kind of attack.

But in the air, it looks like angel wings, made out of rock. That last sentence sound awesome.

It was mentioned in the previous page but the way I got it was to use Earth Shift/Blast Off underneath the door, and spam attacks on the airborne enemies to help me get higher.

Although, now that I know Mental Insurrection helps with air dash, I should try it the intended way.

There is one, however, that I still couldn't get:
Megaman X Metropolis stage, the upper-left door, the item too high to reach

Yes, the game does expect you to air-dash chain off the little homing enemies. You have to be absolutely PERFECT - it takes quite precise Blast Off + Mental Insurrection use to even get to the homing enemies. Once there, you have to hit one at a time and air-dash after each one and you'll JUST barely make it to the item. Utter hell, geez...

Yeah some of these items are really hard to get. Then again it is optional to get those, so I guess it is legit to make some of them pretty hard tog et.
But maybe it helps, if I tell you that there is no single item in the demo of Distorted Travesty 3 yet, that is as hard to get than some of them in DT 1.

I don't think any items in the game gave me much trouble except those that required an air dash chain,
and the Black Rock Fortress one that required you to use the Earth Shift + rising platform glitch(?) to get, which I got completely by accident.
. raocow should have no problems with the majority of items, as long as stubborn-cow doesn't arrive and ignore any other methods once he believes one is possible. :P
