Mushroom Kingdom Meltdown 2 - The better one!

this is the place where lps are being talked about. it's important to talk about games being played on the internet.

While I agree with some of the others that MKM1 was kinda meh, MKM2 is shaping up to be pretty good. So if you made an MKM3, it should be even better than this one, right?

although I'm not a fan of this series, I don't think it's half bad. The graphical choices are very nice and the overworld is excellent. The music in MKM2 is also good, a huuuuuuuuge improvement over the first game's soundtrack in my opinion. I don't think it's fair to harp on only the negative aspects since I can see that a lot of work was put into this.

Here's an idea:
Don't care what people say. Just accept what they don't like, especially when it's a finished hack. If it was a WIP, then you would - of course - fix whatever they say.

Case closed.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that everything is pretty much good in the second one. The first one is really eh, though.

I agree. If it's already finished, then there's nothing much to do. Plus it's pretty early in the hack. I know I'm enjoying this LP a lot. I think MKM2 has some great personality.

I'll be honest.

I have seen better trends in my life.

But yeah, that level is pretty intense. Luckily it is the good type of difficulty and not unfair or anything.

Seriously?

You're really going down this route?

I can usually like something that's not very well-made if the person who made it is a genuinely nice and likable person, but man, looks like that little hope went flying out the window.

So all criticism is just 'nit-picking'?
If you can't take criticism, don't post your work on the internet.

Jass: it's an excuse.
"oh sorry I was a gigantic asshole I'm tired."
It's used by most everyone when they freak out over something.

I say raocow ends the LP in honor of Cypher acting like a child. Even if you think this LP is fantastic, the way he's responding to honest criticism (it's not like we're saying "Wow you suck, kid, what the hell is this shit?") is childish and inappropriate and something I don't think we should be encouraging by watching (or in raocows case, creating) an LP of his work.

What has how he responds in this one case to do with the hack or even a LP? That is just bullshit.

..
if it is sarcasm; I'm just playing along.

Cyphermur9t wrote:Perhaps I'm sounding douchy right now but this is how I speak my mind and get my points across. I don't want everyone to start complimenting the game because I'm annoyed at the fact that few people did in the past. That makes me feel like I want people to pity me which I dislike and don't want.
Based on what I've observed from people in the past, both on forums and in society in general, is that if people are content with something, they don't say anything, but people who don't like something are the ones that speak up. Like I'm not just going to post 'This hack is great.' just to put it out there, but I would post 'This hack is bad.' since my opinion is different.

Basically, people like disagreeing. You'll never be able to please everyone, so don't worry about it.

Sorry guys and gals. My apologies. My attitude was unacceptable and my behavior was wacked. I just had a long sleep and I'm feeling better and not so bitter. I don't want you to lose interest in my stuff and think I'm the Grinch. My head feels clearer and I'm not feeling how I felt earlier. I'm sorry.

Uhm wow there is some kind of crazy stuff going on in here?

Well, I just dropped by to say that raocow's doing a good job not getting frustrated about dying and replaying stuff a bunch (I would have resorted to savestates long ago) and the hack is great (although Judas Priest it got hard fast!) So yeah. Colour me entertained.

I'm absolutely adoring this hack so far.
Which is strange.

This is actually the first and so far only smw hack I've seen as
"good" so far outside of the original game.
So far it looks like they took out the ability to fly
and I've yet to see yoshi, which is strangely fantastic.
It makes you want to use the fire flower more instead of heading straight for the cape.

The game is pretty smooth so far, too.
Seems like it can be spedrun with tons of ease
(and fashionably) if you know what you're doing
because of how seemingly well placed everything is.
In the first desert level I was able to spin jump through about
3/4 of the level just bouncing off pokeys and the pot flowers that spit fireballs.
That took a ton of work pulling off perfectly though.

I loved the first custom boss.
It was cute and not too difficult for someone
that would be playing the game the first time.
I mean like a 5 year old or something, not me of course.

Most of the music placed in the game is fantastic.
So far I've noticed Golden Sun, Yoshi's Island, Chrono Trigger,
Final Fantasy, Zelda: Link to the Past, Bahamut Lagoon,
and even Banjo Kazooie music throughout the game.
And I'm JUST ahead of where raocow is in the game.
Obviously that means tons more to come and hopefully more great surprises.

Really? Medicine?

Well put, Phaiyte (Fate?).

Loved the Chain Link Chamber nod. That level was such a great one in DK2, and this version...I loved it. Don't know why, just seemed extremely well designed, haven't seen small chains to be climbed much yet and I was surprised at how well it worked. Climbing levels in other hacks always seem like such a pain to play, that one didn't at all.

I really loved Desert 4 and the castle. They both had really cool gimmicks, and they were executed well, imo.

In the angry sun level, the running part would've been easier if you had got and kept a running start from the beginning, didn't keep on stopping, and didn't grab a mushroom even when you really needed one... Then again, when I was doing it, I DID keep ramming into cactuses...

I know, right?

I hear Ninji's only have a very small budget for floor repair and could not get it finished in time for raocow. Have to wait till next years budget comes in.

The P-switch music was pretty cool, this was the first time I've noticed the beat.

Also, anyone else think the path to that Mushroom house is a bit Escher-esque?
