That would be very correct. The first levels are mostly vanilla, but you should see all the stuff we are coding for the endgame... except you shouldn't, as that would be all kinds of spoilers.

The reason the "desert/dessert" pun works in Japanese is because they're using it as the English lone word. It's literally pronounced "dezaato," which comes as close as possible to the pronounciation of both words. The entire name of that level is "Misoshiru Desert/Dessert," but "Dessert" doesn't seem to make much sense, seeing as misoshiru seems more like something you would eat for lunch or dinner:

Those levels weren't really remarkable, but very enjoyable nontheless.
Oh, and raocow, try to hurry for once. It would have made the last part of the layer 2 level a lot easier.

First stage: "Miso Soup for Des(s)ert." Yeah, you already know this.
"So, how do you like the taste of miso soup?!
Since the desert's hot, it seems to have dried up.
You've got to keep it moisturized!
No miso soup for you!!"
"Mario!
It's a grab bag!
Taking it will increase your lives by five! (not three)
Now that's delicious!"
(Also, the sound for taking it is the "yum" for 1-ups, but upside down. Weird.)
Descending Layer 2 level: "Fugashi Through Crushing Hell." Or something like that.
"Mario!
Without the key from the key blocks, these keyhole blocks won't let you through!
Of course, you DID get here with it, right?
That's our Mario!!"
"Watch out!!
The fugas... I mean, the ceiling's falling!!"
And yes, "Armpit Hair Switch," and the level makes it pretty clear.

To those who played the hack already: today, in the autoscrolling balloon level, the coins at the beginning said "look" with an arrow pointing south east. What is there?

I don't know. It's almost like the coins were there for no reason...

I figured it said 100 K but I still don't know why.

it actually says "100Kg" (kilograms). Don't know why, as Mario as a balloon would obviously be lighter than he is normally. Unless we're making the assumption that Mario weighs 220 pounds.

Yes. He seriously keeps a live duck inside his apartment.

a squeaking stuffed duck... why would anyone think its a real, live duck kept in his apartment when he is jobless and already has a cat that is really fat.

Oh, wow. I didn't even notice the gold coins down there. On a totally unrelated note, anyone seen the SMB2 episode of Game Center CX? Anyway.
"- Hair Revolution -
On that day, there was a revolution in hair.
A new first page had been written in the history of hair.
Hairless - Transplant"
Balloon stage: "Metabolic in the Sky." Again, one of those written-in-English-things, so you could change it to "metabolism" if you felt like it.
"Hey, Mario!
It's your favorite food... BALLOON!
Chow down!"

So here's the thing about conveyor blocks: they don't actually push you off of themselves, only to the edge

"There It Is - Porcu-puffer-ever."
"Death-Flight of the Lakitus."
"Mario, this place is filled with bad guys.
And so, you must transform...!
Into the invincible Marioman!"
(I guess it's telling you to get the star.)
"Moving Floor, Moving Face."
"Oh! Mario. There's something special about these blocks you've never seen before...
But I'm not going to explain what!
See for yourself! Gwahaha!"
(Bowser's most evil deed by far is not explaining game mechanics for Mario.)
"Today's item is this, the "Non-Existifying Mighty Mop"!
A touch of this mop won't get rid of filth alone, oh, no!
Everything down to the kitchen sink can be completely erased from existence!
With this baby, you can even wipe away that guy you really hate!
And it's only 49,800 yen, that's right, 49,800 yen!
Call now!"

According to whatever random currency converter site I pulled up, that's US$552.78, C$599.66, or €375.09. If only Billy Mays was selling it, that'd really clinch the deal.
