If you're curious about the box in a donut thing, go back all the way there (You remember as it being one of the very first items you'd get), and down the little passage way you went through there.
Then just bomb jump all the ceiling tiles there closest to the box. You'll see what you'll have to do. Also, notice there's a lot of space there..

I still think that you hide your disappointment in the game pretty well.
It's not the best LP but I actually enjoy it for some weird reason that cannot be explained.

sigh

Listen, guys, I try. I try my best to accept this game for what it is. I try my best to play by it's rules.

But it's not happening. Right now, after filming tomorrow videos, I'm just feeling... unhappy. Like, not mad or anything like MariAri did. Just... neutraly disapointed, if that makes sense?

Kilon, it's nice timing that you should say that, considering tomorrow's video.

This romhack is annoying, yes. If you want, you can just give the original a little spin and see how much you like it. Just quit otherwise. No need to pressure yourself.

Yeah it's pretty much obvious at this point that playing this with little knowledge of Super Metroid was a terrible idea.

Still campaigning for the zero mission thing if you're blind on it though (I double-checked and you don't seem to have answered), I think that would work out pretty well.

Eh, if I end this I'm going to let go of Metroid for a little bit. I 'get' it, but I also get that it,s not for me!

Whilst in Legacy many of the expansion puzzles are silly, with whole corridors dedicated to a single missile, i think that Legacy, for all it's faults, comes pretty close to the original super metroid experience. You can argue all you want about level design but in both games you're either in a vertical shaft with enemies or a horizontal shaft with enemies, the "level design" coming from the bits you have sticking out of the walls/cielings and floors, and what kind of shaft you throw at the player next. If Super Metroid isn't the game for raocow it just isn't the game for raocow. It's a shame you're not having fun playing where we're having fun watching, but there's no point putting yourself through it if it's not even that it's too challenging, just that it's rather dull.

Wow and i call myself a Metroid fan.
Beaten to the punch, but basically yeah, metroid isn't raocow's thing, lets stick to mario or try and find something else that is.

Perhaps try the regular Super Metroid first?

It's kind of short sighted to rush into a ROM hack and then say "Man this sure does suck" when you have never even played the game they hacked.

Also, some notes:
Wave beam always shoots through walls. No need to constantly jump around ledges to blast enemies.
L and R (or whatever you've remapped them to) aim down and up at an angle for enemies just below you.
If a Power Bomb doesn't reveal anything, bombing a suspicious part won't do jack.

sorry to double post but...you DISliked Super Metroid because of non-linearity.
And then liked Fusion, a far more linear game (SAMUS GO TO POINT A. NOW COME BACK. NOW GO TO POINT B. OH WHOOPS YOU SEQUENCE BROKE NOW YOUR STUCK LOL) because it was LESS linear?

That is so wrong I think you broke my brain.

I think he just missed out a negative in there, as that makes that sentence make sense.

Also Classtoise, not quite true, for some reason in this hack powerbombs don't reveal speed booster blocks.

Totally not raocow piping up here, but I think he plays Mario first, before the shower. His voice is deeper and thicker in those, which is a very common occurrence when one is coming out of a sleep state.

Well, I'M aware this is goign to disapoint some of you, but tomorrow is going to be the last Legacy video... for now.

I DO say 'for now' because I've dropped games before and then picked them up later, and this may just well happen again! Who knows, really.

It's probably going to disapoint everyone even MORE in that I kinda want to do another mario hack ''parallele' to Challenge World - I've heard good things about Super Mario Omega, including a mod in smwcentral ranking it up there with the TSRPs, and I'm kinda really curious about this! I got the author's permission and everything, so, ah, well, I guess I'm in a 'please myself' rather then 'please the audience' mode these days.

Sorry?

I'm actually glad you're stopping. As much as I like to watch you play video games, this honestly doesn't look fun, and I purposely watch the Metroid videos so as to "save the best for last," if you understand that English idiom.

If you really dislike it at the moment, it's best to do something else.
And I'm fine with another Mario Hack. Playing 1 or 2 stages per hack shouldn't cause a disineterest in Mario hacks.

Omega is alright. I really don't like the music in it, and it uses All-Stars graphics which I really don't care for as much as SMW ones. It does seem nicely put together, but pretty basic (other than graphics and music) so far as I've gotten, which is world 4. I missed some secret exits, I'm sure, but I haven't run into anything super crazy. Still, I guess its worth a shot and maybe its better later?
I'm on Twitter and Discord so say hi to me on there cause I like to vanish from here forever repeatedly also I have sigs off so I can make my sig as ugly as I want and it won't bother me this is my sig btw

Not sure if this makes you feel any better or not, or helps to further justify your decision, but, I haven't watched any of the SML videos since the 3rd episode or so - I don't know what it is, but I just don't find the game interesting and even your commentary can't redeem it for me.

So it was interesting to click on this thread and find that you're stopping the series.

Oh man, now I can't use Super Metroid cards in the Super Unofficial raocow Card Game. I was afraid this would happen!

Cool. Usually stuff starts being things at the end of games, so maybe with starting one Let's Play while another one's fairly into the way, there won't be any double videos of pokey-spin-jump-across-spikes-while-hitting-a-row-of-on-off-blocks-to-stop-the ceiling-from-caving-in-and-also-fishing-fish-boo-guy.

If it's any consolation, you got farther in Super Metroid Legacy than I ever got in Super Metroid.

I'll miss it, just like I did the MANLIEST GAME in existence, but honestly, it really doesn't seem to fit your style. Putting it aside might be useful, and hopefully we'll see more of it as we go along! Can't wait to see your next non-Mario themed game, but Mario will still be your forte, so that'll be pleasent enough!

No matter what, I'll always love you raocow! :]

OHMYGOD YES!

I've played most of the game save state less, and it IS pretty good. There are a few problems that can be a tad annoying, like the author using the same music/graphics a bunch of levels in a row. I didn't really like the TSRPs, but IF I did, I don't think this game is as good as them, but it's up there.
