I did a savestateless run of ASMT, and from my what I remember, it wasn't that difficult. I think that the hardest parts were Starry Night and King Charles' Castle (That level's near impossible to do without setting your own mid-point... And by mid-point I mean making a savestate before the Thwomp boss...)

I was referring more to his point of how some featured or higher rated (before Kieran nuked the ratings and original feature system) games that have flaws that aspiring hack authors might replicate in their own works. Normally when people say "refer to featured hacks" and anything along those lines, it's more along a general sense and not literally **everything**. There's also the matter of level design/difficulty, which becomes a grey area on when enough is enough (and the hack mods' own personal thresholds), assuming it's not pure-kaizo levels of BS.
Not to mention the first MGU had undergone several updates from Cypher which were applied long before raocow started his LP of that, while I do not believe that MGU2 got that same treatment.

AFAIK, they replaced Mario 2 with doki doki panic and called it Mario 2, because the original draft for Mario 2 was way too hard for nintendo people.
Mario 2.

Salt rhymes with malt. Those mountains looked kinda salty to me.

The minor inconsistencies are starting to add up. These chucks look as normal, but those ones are redrawn. You can swim in this upside down lava, but not that upside down lava. See that block the rotodisc rotates around? You can stand on it in this level but not in the next level. One video hint will show you a tricky to find secret exit, but another one will get you nothing more than a room with a flower. This podoboo is a normal podoboo but this one is a super fast rapidoboo. The hack still feels thrown together and unfinished and not fully tested and a bit of a mess.

After giving today's video a look, I wanted to bring
this up. Doki Doki Panic apparently started out as a Mario game when it was first being tested, but it was changed thanks to some tie-in deal to a Japanese corporation and the fact that the engine wasn't exactly working out the way they wanted.
Obviously, that whole tie-in deal would mean nothing to people living in the west, so they changed it back to making it a Mario game when it was brought over here. Basically, instead of it being DDP -> Mario, it actually wound up being Mario -> DDP -> Mario again for us!

If that's true, I am going to be so smug later in life when someone brings that up.

I'm curious as to whether raocow will find Mindfudge "a thing".
That is all.

Did you get that audio fix up and running in time for tomorrow's video, or will it have to wait until Monday?

It's too late for tomorrow's video, but the volume is alright on that one anyway (just not excellent)

At 4:30 there was a Goomba walking in midair.
Mind blown.

Man, that Goomba doesn't give a crap if you took its wings away, it'll still walk on air like nothing happened ever.

That Goomba represents our conscious.
The autoscroll represents the flow of time, ever moving forward. Eventually, the Miracle Goomba is pushed into the far past where we can only remember what happened through recording. It's like "What did you have for dinner this date last year?" Only that Goomba is like a huge life decision that if you have made differently, you could be a billionaire or some hobo sleeping in the train station.
Thank you, Miracle Goomba, for being there to remind us of that.
... the hell am I talking about?

My guess is that it has something to do with that fallen platform, but raocow made it perfectly clear that:
Sprites and platforms don't mix!
Bah, I'm confused.

Man! That out-of-sync blocks gimmick was really neat!
Like, you kinda had to find an empty spot between your options for blocks to jump to and the block you're on, and use your peripheral vision to see which ones sync up.

I actually fell out of my chair laughing at that outro for Another Castle.
Although now you've made me wonder if the final secret to reviving the princess is there. With all the memes we've seen from this game so far, it would be almost comforting if the princess was in Another Castle.
People who know how it ends: don't reply to that theory. Even if your answer is completely in a spoiler tag, I'm going to read something into the presentation.

I missed it but laughed when I read GauRocks's post.
"I'm sorry mario, but the princess is in Another Castle."
