Oh man I say something about the buzzy beetle and he breaks out the "Tall Guy". Funniest thing in the video.

I can't help but feel that there's a standard Mario game with a tall thin shy guy. Yoshi's Island DS?

If you need the yoshi to get the secret exit anyway, why does the level just yoshi jump up to the blue shell?

There's those tall guys that spit seeds in Yoshi's Island.

Mike has given canonical names to all the crazy enemies. Those are 'Turbeetles' (maybe don't want to say that out loud), which are 'Buzzy Beetle with a super charger', first appearing in FreedoMN. Shy-the-Long-Face is Stretch Guy from Yoshi's Island, Fat Chick is Choppah from Super Mario Galaxy 2, Bawalry Bewelry(?!) is the name of something. Check out the enemies page.

Hey, a level where the custom sprites are used extensively and purposefully, as though the author had designed it with them in mind! Wha'd'ya know.

Really, the next level is Evergreen Terrace?
I'm guessing tomorrow we won't be visiting the home of a certain yellow-skinned family.

Peeps who have already played this game: does the cave world ghost house have a secret exit?

raocow's correct, you know: bombs are dangerous. I once heard of a fellow who dared to try to stop a time bomb and nearly suffocated as a result.

I find it weird that even though English is a second language to raocow, he's one of the few people on this earth that know how to pronounce "etcetera".
Everyone seems to pronounce it "exetra", and some people don't even know how to abbreviate it. They always put "exc", "ect" or something stupid like that.

Anyway, now that I've ranted, is there any reason why the ghost house had "goopy" in the name? I didn't notice ANY goop whatsoever.

A day later I get it. Clever.

He says something about it in the video; it's the goopy green bubble things.

I hope he knows it's two words.

I'm pretty sure singing the Donkey Kong Rap qualifies as a crime against humanity.

According to the map on the site, dear Cow of Raos, you are in world 8.

This is a big game...and perhaps it could even be compared to the size of the various collab hacks. However, due to the lower difficulty, you're just blazing right through three or four stages at a time like it was nothing and it makes it feel much smaller than it actually is. If this were VIP, I'm sure it would have taken you at least 10 more videos to get to the point relative to where you are now.

"Et cetera" is Latin, and considering raocow's Francophone upbringing and the fact that French is one of the primary Latin-based languages, I'd expect the guy to have greater familiarity with it than typical English speakers, you know? :geek:

Clearly it was this guy but he escapes before you get him onscreen.

It is. He's in the "characters" section on the website.

You know, I don't think Yoshi has been able to chomp down on the Piranha Plants that come out of the side of the pipes all game. Your one comment about that made me think about that in today's video. And yeah, I understand that was your garden variety one... Maybe Yoshi can't deal with those either?

That "Airmaster Surf" level seemed very... Cookie-cutter-ish. Like, if someone hacked SMW, replaced Forest Of Illusion Secret Are (Or whatever it's called) with that level, and gave it to me, I probably wouldn't really notice (Aside from the fact that I think he changed the palette a bit.).

The enemy in the cave reminds me of this one from Galaxy 2:

Image

It's not a very good reference, though. The two act NOTHING alike. The SMG2 variant homes in over Mario, flutters for a few seconds, then flips over and tries to fall on him. A farcry from the flying thing in that cave, for sure.

Someone on Youtube made a comment about how useless secret exits are that lead back through the map (even though the obvious use of such a thing is to provide a shortcut for faster backtracking), so it leads me to ask: what do people want from secret exits?

For my own personal hyper-biased taste, I like when they serve as genuine branches that still go foward, lead to switches, or other bonuses like future unlocks (like the vip5 three star levels). Sometimes in the late game in a hard game it's fun to have a secret lead to what is obviously a life-farming place, too.
