Here's something that my good friend Blue posted on Redigit's youtube that you lot should see.
""Blue" from the SMBX community here. Just wanted to say Im dissapointed in all the people who are posting on vids around youtube and on forums around the web saying Redigit is a liar. I can assue you all that Nintendo truly did contact Redigit. Redigit would have been content with leaving SMBX up on his site. There wouldbe no reason to take it down for his own gain. Since there would be no gain. In fact, why would he subject himself to the insults of people who would think he was being foolish? You are all acting like children, and can not see that the world doesnt revolve around you. SMBX was a great thing. And now its gone. Grow up, move on, and give Redigit a break. He made the game for you in the first place. Why attack someone who did that for you? "
Also to add on to those curious why other places such as SMWCentral haven't been targeted is because Nintendo got several customer complaints (sent by idiots) about SMBX. That's pretty much how they found out about it guys.

You really think people got so fed up with his hesitance on the project that they would contact Nintendo themselves just to shut it down? Wouldn't that be the opposite of what they wanted unless they were just trolls? And if so I'd have to wonder how he would have to garner the hate of so many people to actually have a response from Nintendo themselves.
To be honest I don't even know that much about his situation or his personal feelings on the project or how many complaints he was getting from fans for not updating it more. However I think he shouldn't let himself be pushed around by fans or trolls alike. It's HIS project and HE should have the decision on what he wants to do with it after all.
But the way he decided to handle things is just pathetic. There's very little evidence Nintendo contacted him and the way they contacted him is not even common at all for Nintendo's cease and desists. Furthermore the fact that they took away a domain despite the fact that the site is still running is very suspicious and it even has links to other romhacks as well!
If the guy wants any respect at all he should just confess about this farce and just admit he doesn't want to work on the project any longer. Ignore the people who want to tie you down but don't blatantly lie to all the people who enjoyed your work.

You've got it all wrong, people did not contact Nintendo to shut it down, they probably just got confused and thought it was a Nintendo Game, thus contacting them because of issues.
he's also admitted he doesn't want to work on the project like a million times.

Nintendo got confused and thought it was their game? What I'd do in a situation like this is try to sort out that confusion.
If that failed, I'd replace all the images and music in the game with something else. Even hastily drawn stick figures, so that people could play the game. And release the source code so other people could work on it.
It sounds like the guy's just burning his toys so no-one else gets to play.

You're joking right, Nintendo never got confused and thought it was their game. The people who played SMBX got confused.

You know.. for those who are quick to say this whole thing is fake why don't you go to the site of the lawfirm ( http://www.millernash.com/ ) that called Redigit and find a way to contact them.

You weren't very clear. The rest of my point still stands though. Remove Mario graphics and music from the game and it's legal.

Man, some people get touchy over pixel animals. Next thing you know they'll start a PETY (People for the Ethical Treatment of Yoshis).
I think a Yoshi belongs down a hole. They have a fear of heights.

Only Mario and Luigi are able to find Yoshi.
Eggs contain shoes, to any other person, except for Link who gets only hearts.

Anyway, a neat thing about rainbow shells. This will actually be important for a secret exit later, so listen up.
Upright Rainbow Shells act like before: a yellow koopa has jumped inside and goes Kill Bill.
HOWEVER, upside down rainbow shells are empty, and do not harm you on the rebound! Another thing that the game does not tell you about is that you can surf flipped rainbow shells. Just run at full speed, and throw the shell downwards. You can also skip across the water using this method.
This might work with subcon enemies and other flipped shells, but I'll have to check.

The Billy Gun looks like the big demonstration of where the advantage is in a ground-built-up engine. It looks like a concept we'd see in a VIP, but it'd totally suck as part of a romhack because sprite limitations would either cause slowdown or it wouldn't fire as frequently. But it's hilarious because it can do all that without those drawbacks.
Is there any rhyme or reason behind what shape the Fire/Ice Flowers have? It seems like they're sometimes Tulip-shaped and sometimes Daisy-shaped, but they always end up the same ability. Also, Yoshi Disposal shaft is now official cannon.
Stupid legal stuff.
Kokorov wrote:You know.. for those who are quick to say this whole thing is fake why don't you go to the site of the lawfirm ( http://www.millernash.com/ ) that called Redigit and find a way to contact them.
Pffffft.
Let me get this straight: You think that a law firm would give out information about legal action that is in progress or recently implemented to a random person on the internet.
As has been said before in the topic, that is not how the law works. They are under no obligation to give any information out to anyone who is not directly involved in the situation, and doing so has a huge chance of hurting them in court and near (if not no) chance of helping them. This is why people are interested in the actual physical letter as opposed to going out to a firm you're namedropping just now, they kinda can't actually do the latter and expect anything at all. The mailing address for the owner of supermariobrothers.org is available on a WHOIS lookup, I've got it right now, if lawyers wanted to get the domain name and wanted to go through this whole business, they kinda have to go that route in order to have evidence they actually tried to contact the dude who registered the name.
This is ignoring out out-of-MO this is. For example, when Miller Nash "closed" Pokemon Battle Arena (coincidentally, another situation where the people who allegedly got an order to stop that stuff have done absolutely nothing to show the actual legal contact), they did not have this "please give us your domain name" clause. Absolutely nothing suspicious about those scenarios standing right next to each other, no sir. Mind you the PBA people have gone on to talk about how they're just going to make a new game just like it without using the sprites directly ripped from a pokemon game.
Quill wrote:Grow up, move on, and give Redigit a break. He made the game for you in the first place.
I am going to be as smug as all hell about this.
I'm on a mac. Whoop. Whoop.

So do the colored Yoshis have other functions above their SMW counterparts? I've seen some posts that hint at things like that. I'd like Yellow Yoshi to be reprieved of the Yoshi Disposal Shaft, though, as he's always the neglected Yoshi. Poor little urine-colored horse.
I'll follow his route and spoiler my ramblings on this barely related subject.
Quill wrote:There wouldbe no reason to take it down for his own gain. Since there would be no gain.
Once again, I can only assume that his decision to stop developing it has led to countless emails and messages from persistent fools who want him to continue working on it, regardless of how he feels about the project. If he goes with the Legal excuse, that should greatly limit the number of people who try, as they'll realize he isn't going to risk lawsuit just to continue a silly fangame. It also makes him look good, what with the added "Well they wanted to take the website too, but I put my foot down and said no" nonsense at the end.

There's the original four yoshis. And there's also
Pink Yoshis who always spit out vegetables when you spit an enemy out, cyan yoshis that spit out ice just like how pink spits out the veggies, purple who can ground pound by hitting down when in the air, even if you have no enemy in its mouth, and the black yoshi where it has the combined power of the four original yoshis. Regardless of shell color, it'll stomp, fly, and spit out fireballs.
